Izuku's eyes slowly open as he looks up to see a wooden ceiling. He rubs his eyes as he holds his hand out, an instant later his phone arriving in it.
"Ugh... what time is it." Izuku mumbles to himself, where the memories of the previous evening start to flood in. He was speaking to that blue haired guy... Tomura? He seemed nice. Was willing to listen to his whole story and didn't judge him. Sure he was a little blunt but he was cool enough... wait, didn't he want to destroy society? Oh shit he did... and he wanted to kill people... oh god oh fuck. Izuku leans up in his impromptu bed and rubs his face, trying to make some sense of it.
"Okay okay... uh... Maybe he was just over-exaggerating... yeah! He doesn't actually want to do those things, he's just that desperate for societal change he's frustrated! Yeah that's gotta be-" Izuku goes on to say, but:
"Why're you mumbling" said a familiar raspy voice. Izuku jolts, almost dropping his phone.
"Oh H-hey, g'morning!" Izuku practically shouts, Tomura sighs as he removes the hand on his face.
"It's two in the afternoon."
Izuku frowns. He'd been sleeping for so long recently, he wasn't sure whether it was down to the stress or the use of his quirk... or quirks at this point. There's a small thud on his lap, he looks down to see a small brown bag of fast food.
"Eat." instructs Tomura.
"Where'd you get this?" Izuku asks.
"Well I said earlier I'd kill for some fast food... so..." Tomura smirks, he could see the fear build up in Izuku's eyes which causes him to chuckle before dropping the facade. "Relax, Green. I didn't kill anyone... It is stolen though." Izuku breathes out heavily hearing that, but it definitely wasn't the way he wanted to start his day.
"I'm... I'm not sure I want to do this." Izuku says.
"Eat? Okay, I get you're the noble type, but c'mon it's free food." Tomura says as Izuku gets up, leaving the food on the bed as he shakily steps backwards.
"N-no... As in any of this. League of the Wronged, forcing change... murder..." blurts out Izuku, Tomura sighs putting his hand back over his face.
"Take it easy would ya? You only just woke up." he says calmly. But Izuku couldn't help but clutch at his head, his mind was racing a million miles a minute... he had to get some air. He rushes out the door past Tomura, whom just shrugs seeing this supposed consort of his having a breakdown. He reaches into the left behind food bag and pulls out a couple of the fries, eating them himself.
Izuku needed time, needed space. He rushes through an open door and starts climbing stairs, before he knows it he's on the roof. He pants to himself as he leans on the table that happened to be up there. Mom was gone, the Ka-Chan he thought he knew was gone, his life was gone, he was sleeping under a roof with villains... were they villains? Tsubasa- Garaki was looking after him, Mr Shigaraki had given him his mother's quirk, plus a few others he somehow had. Kurogiri seemed nice enough but Tomura... oh god. Izuku's gaze falls on the cityscape below, people just living their lives and going about like nothing was happening.
"This is all too much." Izuku murmurs as he looks over the city, he walks forward towards the guardrail. Leaning on it, but he wanted a better view, just slightly. Izuku slowly climbs onto the guardrail. He sits on top of it, behind him was a life he never thought he'd end up in, and in front of him was... well... an end to it.
"Mom... I'm so sorry. I'm not sure I can do this... not without you... not like this... I'm so sorry..." Izuku blurts out as tears well up in his eyes, he doesn't even hear the sound of footsteps behind him. "What if, I really am a villain... I don't want to be a villain, that's not who I am, is it? I want to be someone who when people see me smile, they know everything's going to be fine... But I'm not sure I'm ever going to smile again." solemnly says Izuku.
"What makes you say that?" said the raspy voice that filled Izuku with fear.
"Tomura just... please leave me alone." sighs Izuku, but Tomura steps forward.
"Days are pretty long, weeks are even longer. That's a lot of time to find a reason to smile, or find something funny at least. Like the other day, I saw someone fall off their bike and it... hahaha. Sorry it still gets me now." Tomura chuckles
"Why're you so... horrible?" Izuku says. Tomura folds his arms and taps his foot, he wasn't sure he liked this green consort. But if master said he was going to look after him then, it's probably best he hears him out. "You talk about murder, theft and injury so casually... like it's all a big game." Izuku concludes.
"When you're used to it as long as I have been, they don't really phase you anymore."
Izuku takes his hands off the guardrail and sits with them in his lap. He was balanced well enough, for now at least.
"I... I don't want to be that unfeeling."
"Just because I'm not phased by it, it doesn't mean I don't feel it." Tomura mutters as he scratches at his neck. "Look, Green. The way I see it, you've got two choices. Fall forwards and regret it, or get down from there and act on that gut feeling of yours you were saying about." bargains Tomura.
"I just want to help people. To save them. To make the world a better place." sighs Izuku as he looks over the city.
"Do you believe you can do that?" asks Tomura. "Because if there's any part of you that thinks that someday, someone will be better off in this life because of you; then get down." states Tomura.
Izuku thinks about it. About all of it. He thinks about mom, he thinks about what happened to her... He thinks about that this could happen to any multitude of people. People who look for heroes... and then the heroes don't come. He screams out, he screams out in that all too familiar heart wrenching way, even Tomura seemed taken aback by it, his scream signalling that he'd made up his mind as he slowly gets down off of the guard rail to face Tomura. Who gives him the same blunt stare he'd been giving him the previous evening, only for him to gently raise up the same brown bag of fast food he'd gone to give him earlier.
"If you're sticking around... then you'd better eat something." instructs the boy in blue. Izuku sighs and gently takes the bag from him, looking inside and seeing a burger and some fries.
"Thanks." sighs the boy in green. He eats a fry whilst his unlikely guardian angel taps his foot.
"Master said that if I looked after you, you'd look after me, so. I don't like you, yet. But, I guess we can worry about that later because according to him, we need each other." declares the boy in blue
"Well, I guess we can worry about liking each other later on then... But, thanks for... ya know." Izuku shrugs. He takes a bite of his burger... god damn it was a good burger.
"Whatever." Tomura bluntly responds, Izuku looks in the bag, seeing the fries, he gently takes the box out and holds it over to Tomura, as an olive (oil based) branch. "Yeah. I already had quite a few of yours. But I'll take another if you're offering." Tomura says as he takes another fry. Izuku frowns.
"Gee, thanks." Izuku replies.
"Ah, shut it ya quirkless loser." says Tomura.
Izuku couldn't help but snort and laugh a little. He said he might never smile again, but here he was, minutes later laughing with the person who terrified him most... Well, maybe he wasn't that terrifying.
