Chapter 22 - chapter 22

Ochako's eyes gently open as she looks up to the ceiling... No, the floor? Oh crap it happened again.

"Shit..." murmurs Ochako as she holds onto her curtain rail and pulls herself back over the top of her bed before gently pressing her fingers together. "Release." She falls back down onto the bed with a thump. She flicks the hair out of her eyes and shakes her head. Today was the day! She smiles as she sits up in her bed. "Alright... Today's the day it all begins!" She gets up and walks out of her bedroom, the smell of toast causing her to float (not literally thank god) to the kitchen where her parents are sat. "Mom! Dad!" she calls

"Hey kiddo!" says her dad

"Morning sweetie! C'mon, come have some toast, you'll need your strength today!" says her mother, Ochako smiles hearing this as she sits down with her family on the creaky chair she always sat in. She bites into the toast and smiles. They didn't have an awful lot, but they had each other, that was enough.

"I promise, I'm gonna do great things today! It'll be the start of big things and then I can finally start helping you guys out!" declares Ochako, her dad smiles and ruffles her hair

"Come on kiddo, how many times do we have to tell you we're getting by just fine." he says. Ochako couldn't help but laugh as her hair gets ruffled.

"Yeah, but you guys have always looked after me. I wanna return the favour! Besides, if I can help people feel safe at the same time, it's a win win!" she says. Her mom kisses her on the top of the head.

"You're too good for us sweetie. You've grown into a fine young woman." says her mom. Ochako blushes as her parents compliment her, she gets up with the toast still in her mouth.

"Imgondomahbest" she says with toast wedged in her mouth. Her parents smile, they got the gist of what she meant.

----------------------

"Hey, you doing okay back there kiddo?" asks the hag- mom.

Katsuki just looks out the window of his mom's car as it drives along the street. Towards the place he'd set his sights on going since he realised this is where his path was leading... But he wanted more than anything just to hide away from all of it.

"Huh? Oh. Yeah. Yeah." Katsuki mutters.

Mitsuki gently holds the steering wheel of her car as they drive along, she slips a glance at Masaru who offers a small smile to her. Things had been disconnected in their house since they lost Inko and Izuku. Mitsuki had grieved to the best of her ability but the woman she viewed as a sister was gone, and the child that she left behind whom she vowed to protect was missing, presumed... well it didn't even bare thinking about.

"You're gonna do great today, you know? You're so strong and powerful. Maybe you should give the other's a head start, huh?" says Mitsuki desperately trying to reach out to her son, but he was different, ever since the news reached him. He'd seemed so distant from her, from Masuru, from everyone.

"You never know, he might be in there waiting for you Katsuki... You always said about how determined he was to get to UA." optimistically said his father. But Katsuki couldn't help but cringe in his seat hearing that, he knew he wasn't going to be there. He knew exactly why he wouldn't be there, he was the only one that did... He wasn't there because... because...

"Yeah. Maybe." murmurs Katsuki.

The car pulls up and stops with a clunk, Katsuki gets out and wants to slip away inside without another word; but.

"Hey, kiddo."

Katsuki stops and turns, surprised to feel his mom hugging him tight. He usually hated this sort of thing, but today he couldn't help but feel he needed it.

"Do your best, 'kay?" said his mom.

"Do it for them, Katsuki." his dad said softly ruffling his hair.

The hug silently breaks as Katsuki turns and walks into the campus of the place he'd always dreamed of being, but today it was a living nightmare. All whilst using a quirk that he had tainted.

'I don't deserve to be here, If I get in I might as well just give my place to someone else. I'd better stay out of the way too. I can't let anyone else get hurt because of my-' Katsuki's thoughts pause as his foot steps forward and hits a dislodged tile, causing him to trip. He wrinkles up his face in preparation for it's harsh introduction to the concrete. But it never comes, he feels something gripped onto his bag strap, holding him up. He opens his eyes to see himself getting lifted back up from the floor and onto his feet.

"Sorry! That looked like it would've been painful so I didn't want you to hurt yourself before the exam!" said the excited blonde wearing glasses, she holsters her grappling hook after twirling it in her hand. Katsuki turns round rather awkwardly.

"Oh. Um. Thanks." he spits out. The blonde haired girl smiling.

"Well, good luck!" she says walking past him, giving him a little pat on the shoulder as she heads inside.

He used to despise people helping him, it violated everything he stood for. But for today, it didn't feel all that bad to Katsuki.

------------------------

Melissa felt good about herself as she sat down in the auditorium; she'd helped out that spiky haired blonde guy from face planting, her grapple hook worked which was always reassuring and she thinks she aced the written test too. She was raring to go!

'Uncle Toshi said about being multiple types of robots... I can use my gadgets for the smaller ones and then focus on helping people out who get into trouble.' she thinks to herself. It was a risky plan, considering everyone would be going all out to try and get as many points as possible for attacking. But she felt if she displayed her technical ability as well as an aptitude for saving people, then she'd get more than enough points. She felt guilty that not everyone knew about the second set of points, but she had to be slightly selfish here, after all everyone else would be looking out for themselves, but she'd be the one looking out for them!

"OH YEAH! WELCOME TO THE MAIN STUDIO HOPEFUL TRAINEES, CAN I GET A PLUS ULTRA!?" screamed the host of the proceedings, Present Mic.

Melissa grinned.

"PLUS-" Oh shit. Nobody else had done it. "- ultra..." she muttered. Shit. Oh well, if that's her mistake for the day then at least it happened now.

"Appreciate the thought little lady! Anyway let's take a look at what you'll be doing today!" says the DJ as the screen behind him flashes into life, a pixel style video game display appears, showcasing three different types of robots. "Think of these droids as your scale of villains! The larger they are, the louder your score! The smallest and least dangerous ones are worth one point, the intermediate ones are worth two and the big bad bosses are worth three! You'll have fifteen minutes to get as many points as you can!" he bellows enthusiastically.

"Excuse me."

"Woah hey! A call in! Let's hear what you got listener!"

Melissa turns, she couldn't help but resist seeing who said that.

"On this official UA hand out, it states that there is a fourth type of robot, are we to believe that this is a mistake on officially endorsed hero resources?" said the tall guy with glasses. Present Mic rolls his eyes underneath his shades.

"Thanks for the request, allow me to continue!" presents Present Mic as the display behind him shifts again, revealing a much bigger droid. "Consider these massive robots as a little switch up to the bass-line, they're essentially traps to keep everyone moving, hence why you get no points for attacking it!" he concludes

"I understand now, my apologies. Please continue sir." the formally spoken guy says as he retakes his seat. Melissa couldn't help but frown.

'Damn give the guy a chance to explain everything' she thought to herself.

"With all that being said! Good luck to you all, you'll see on your hand out which training facility you're assigned to! So head on down to your respective studios and let's get rocking!"

-----------------------

Ochako walked down the hallway, she was a little flustered, how the hell did she manage to get lost? She was sure she was going the right way and then suddenly; no idea! She looks around worried, picking up the pace slightly, before she ends up in front of the same damn door she'd ended up at the last three times she thought she'd found the way out.

"Damn it! Shit!" she curses as she rubs her own head, trying to get whatever happened to be in there allowing her to think to think up a way to get her out of this.

"Hey, you okay there?" said a kind voice. Ochako turns to see a taller young woman with jet black hair and a spring in her step walking down the corridor towards her. Her saviour!

"Oh um... I'm kinda lost." awkwardly says Ochako. The tall girl smiles

"It's okay! I got lost here the last time too, c'mon I'll help you out!" she offers, the tall girl takes the lead and Ochako follows after her saviour, smiling all the while.

"Thank you so much for this... say, aren't you trialing today too?" Ochako asks.

"Not today! I competed through the recommendation trials a few days ago, so chances are if you do well enough today... we'll see a lot more of each other! she cheerfully states, Ochako's eyes sparkling.

"You got in? Congratulations that's amazing!" The tall girl turns and smiles, she looked fondly into the eyes of Ochako, seeing something in her sparkle that she'd seen in someone else who meant a lot to her.

"I'm Momo Yaoyorozu. Who might you be, friend?" says Momo. Ochako couldn't help get all giddy, friend! A friend after getting lost, what a happy accident!

"Ochako Uraraka! Great to meet you!"

The new wonder-duo finally emerge into the outside world, Ochako immediately more relaxed seeing where she had to go.

"How come you're here today anyways? If you're already in I mean, is it like a campus tour for you?" she asks her new buddy.

"Oh, they invite the successful candidates to watch! Something of a small honour. Especially if it means I got to meet you!" Momo declares. The pair smile at one another as Ochako hears the honk of a horn, her bus was ready and waiting!

"Oh that's me! I'll put on a good show just for you!" promises Ochako as she starts to jog off

"I'll be rooting for you! Give it your best!" Momo shouts, seeing Ochako pump her fist as she hops onto the bus.

She apologises for being late as it then sets off; she was going to give it everything she had today. For the sake of her family and her new friend/saviour. She'd do them all proud!
