The next morning, Dharen was awakened to the twitter of small birds as they played outside, this brought a smile to his face as he slowly sat up in his bed looking around. In truth, he had calmed down a lot compared to when he had first arrived here in that accursed battlefield, but still he never would be able to fully calm down and simply accept this world as it was, it was just not something he could do in any kind of good thought.
He was from Earth, not this place and that would never change.
Soon enough after having had his breakfast, he found himself walking through the town towards where Drake had said the bridge would be. The road, though was empty, he could still hear people getting up however, as they started their days off with whatever it would be that they would be doing, but still on the road that lead to the bridge in the distance there was no one, and if he had ignored all of the noise from the town as it slowly came to life, he could have easily have said it was a ghost town, the birds did not even fly over this road making it seem very unnatural.
He could though already see the bridge in the distance, and unlike what he was accepting of a simple small stone bridge that stretched across the river, the bridge itself was anything but simple. There were two towers that soared into the sky, with an arch between the two of them, opening up to the bridge itself, which looked as if it had been carved over fully with many words and symbols that he did not recognise at all. It appeared as if it was a grand piece of artwork as much as it was a bridge.
Stepping onto the bridge itself, he could have sworn that the air almost seemed to pulse out from himself as he had taken his few steps, but this all seemed to have ended after those few steps, making him think that it had been his imagination.
Walking across the bridge itself was simple enough and nothing really happened, although on the other side of the bridge a similar archway with its towers stood there, however this time there was a grand wooden gate that was closed tight. Its oaken body having been carved with simple symbols that the bridge itself had been, but this time all of these carvings seemed to form a kind of pattern in of itself, showing off further the artistic skill of whomever had made this bridge.
As he approached the gateway, the gate itself slowly began to swing open almost as if it had been expecting him to be here. Behind though, was a few people two wearing armour with swords at their waists looking at him with quite a bit of confusion, the last person wore a long fitting robe, with multiple symbols in silver emblazoned over the navy surface,
As he approached them more and passed under the gateway, Dharen felt another pulse of air almost like he had been welcomed for some odd reason. This though, he quickly realised had not been noticed by the three people who were now before him, each with a differing look of confusion and annoyance.
It was the lady in the robe who opened her mouth to do all of the talking however, her voice being quiet but still powerful as it echoed through his ears in a slightly similar way that the voice of the system had done before.
"So why is it that one of the Dragon-Kin is seeking to enter our academy?" Hearing the usual reference to his eye colour, Dharen could not help but feel a little frustrated as not a single person that he had met since he had entered Rivertown had seen him simply as a normal person.
"I am here to seek entry to the academy as a student, I heard that you did take late admissions occasionally." The lady just scoffed at his words.
"Oh, of course we can take late admissions, but only for those who have talent, and I do mean real and true talent." Arrogance echoed around his mind as she spoke, but Dharen paid no mind to this as he replied to her as normally as he could given the circumstance.
"Well, I am more than willing to partake in any kind of test or exam that you have in store so that I could prove my so-called talent as you say that I should possess." The lady just smirked at him.
"There is no exam, you just have to enter into that tower and we will know if you have the talent that is needed or not." As she spoke she pointed at a tower, that was not part of the bridge but instead part of what walked like a separate compound in of itself.
Nodding his head to show his understanding as well as his agreement, Dharen walked across the smooth stone ground to where the entrance to the tower itself lay.
Looking through the entrance he could see nothing but darkness, which itself should not have been possible with there being multiple sources of light that were behind himself, not that this really mattered that much though.
Soon enough he had walked inside, the darkness engulfing him completely. He had no idea what it was that he had to do, inside of the tower so he just stood there confused.
And then before his eyes, a pale blue light sparked to life, as he slowly wove its way around his feet, in the shape of the inscriptions like that he had seen on the bridge, and gateway just earlier.
Then as the pale blue light had fully formed its own beautiful inscription, it began more firm, and less illusionary than it had been before, then in a moment, the entire room flashed blue as Dharens sight was blinded, not just that though, even his ears were ringing as he stumbled out of the the tower using its outer wall to support himself upright.
As the ringing faded, and his vision returned to normal he found a rather surprised looking man in a similar robe to that of the lady who he had seen earlier.
"Well Dharen, I am pleased and surprised to inform you that you have been accepted into the academy into the school of warfare and tactics."
What?
