Chapter 15 - Jason And Sword Skills

After the general introductions, the two both sat down on the chairs that had come with the desks. "So, Dharen, where exactly are you from?" He asked slowly.

Dharen, sighing a little, replied normally as by this point although he had signed out of habit and the questioning that he had been asked before, they were always there about his eyes in some shape or form, this being just an extension of those questions.

"I am from the east unlike all of the others who are here that are like me. Although after I had met them earlier today it seemed like that was rare."

Jason looked at him a bit more seriously now, "It is definitely rare, I have never heard of any of the Dragon-Kin in the east and yet here you are. Oh right, I come from the east. I am the third son of one of the City Lords who hold a place in the league. You know, the alliance of city states up the coast."

Dharen just nodded his head at his words, not wanting to appear as though he did not know anything to his roommate. After a few more moments they both soon heard a loud bell ring out its noise echoing through the room, not that anything did shake, which was odd from such a loud noise.

Jason was completely fine with it, not even reacting to the noise as he slowly got up, ensuring he was dressed smartly before looking back at Dharen.

"That was the bell for dinner, you best hurry up and change into uniform so that we can go and eat, or else there will not be any dinner left for us and the instructors will have us performing combat exercises all night, or worse."

Dharen hearing the words of Jason soon went and quickly got changed finding that the uniform that he had been given did indeed fit him perfectly, and it was tight but not to tight, so that he could still breath but it showed off his physique far more than he was comfortable with, not that his body had a bad one by most standards it could be considered to be one of the best in the academy but Dharen still did not want to just show off his body, preferring modesty far more.

The two of them soon started to walk up the stair wells taking them all the way up to the top of the building where the canteen itself was, there many students walking up here, girls and boys all in the same black uniform that did not seem to change at all based on gender. All were wearing black trousers, with black boots, black tops, covered in a militarised black coat.

The attention and heavy use of black amused Dharen a little as it seems that no one had any other colour on themselves until he reached to the rough, were he could spot some people, with silver markings on the uniforms, the silver clearly making them stand out above the rest.

In his ear Jason whispered, "Those are the group leaders, they excel in something so much they have been honoured with it, and in the war games they have a unit to lead themselves. They are what we consider to be the best of the best in the academy. The true talents."

As Dharen looked on at them, he found one turn around and looked straight at him, and to his surprise Dharen recognised him as the eldest of the Dragon-Kin students who had met so far.

Yelping in surprise both Dharen and Jason found themselves getting slapped on their ass by someone behind them. But as they turned around they both saw the golden eyed smirking Reena.

"So I see that you finally have a roommate Jason."

Jason surprisingly did not say anything to her and just nodded his head confusing Dharen, as his roommate had not stopped talking since he had first met him earlier on.

"As for you Dharen, I am looking forward to tomorrow. You know next to nothing about being one of us already, so I am hoping you know at least how to use a weapon, I will be testing you." Then with that she soon enough vanished into the crowd joining one of the many tables around that possessed food.

Jason just looked at Dharen with the gaze of someone who had been sentenced to death, not that Dharen could understand, Renna was smaller than them both by far, and they were still all in the first year. How bad could it be?

The next day amid the clashing of sticks he found out the answer to his question all too quickly.

The classes that were occuring today were only that of the physical classes. The fitness class was easy enough for Dharen, which had made him as well as the instructor in charge of this class, a man called Ajax rather happy as Dharen was able to keep up easily with all of his classmates even when he had started later on.

It was the following session that he would soon come to regretfully. The weapon skills class started off easy enough. Dharen was taken to the side by a different instructor called Isabella, she had looked him up and down for a few minutes before handing a sword saying that this would be the best weapon for him.

She then showed him how to perform all of the basics of which he had picked up far too quickly to her surprise, even prompting her to get suspicious and ask him if he had learned the blade before. He had denied this but still, even now he could see her squinted eyes looking at him across from the dirt arena which was used as the training ground for everyone.

Opposite him in this arena however was an excited and eager looking Renna who was holding a sword of her own.

The only difference between the two of them being, Dharen had just seen her destroy and floor the previous nine people who had gone up to attempt to fight her, and now he had found it was his turn.

"Begin!"
