Chapter 12 - The Dragon-Kin

The journey to the centre of the Isle did not take Dharen as long as he thought that it would have, overall it could not have been more than an hour, he guessed. Getting down from the carriage and looking around, he could see more people in the same style of robes as that of the professor, although there was a difference in the colours that were used person to person.

"Dharen, follow me and we will get your admission all finished up and so that we can get you settled down into the dorms." Professor Adrian had said as he walked past Dharen at a brisk pace, forcing him to run a little so that he could catch up to the professor who did not seem to think or bother to see if Dharen had been following him or not.

The two of them entered into one of the many buildings that formed up the central area of the grounds, Dharen rightly assuming that this was the administration block. Inside of the building itself, the place was sparsely decorated with some paintings and plants, though being made from the smooth grey stone like that of Rivertown, did not do overly much to lighten the place up from its dull natural appearance.

Looking at the stone Dharen was able to wonder how they even had made such a structure, it was way to unlikely that there was such a large stone here that the builders would of had to have had someone who was truly amazing as to carve and make it all so smooth, but then again, there was no clear sign that any of the stone was a block.

Dharen kept on looking at the walls as they walked and before long they had entered into what looked like an office which was covered in dark wooden desks as well as a large assortment of paper work, each desk having a person in a robe furiously writing down on the paper in front of themselves, clearly performing so kind of random administration task that should be needed to keep the place running smoothly.

The professor looked around for a moment, before his face lit up and he then took Dharen over to a man who did seem that busy compared to the others in the room, in fact it looked like he was on vacation when you looked at the others in the room, and then looked at him.

The man in question saw the two of them walk, and emitted a small groan as he looked at Dharen in particular.

"Why is there someone else here? I thought we were stopping with such people being let into the academy." The man said as he groaned aloud to Adrian.

Adrian, before Dharen could mutter some kind of retort to the rude man, about the colour of his eyes, put a hand down onto Dharen's shoulder, silencing him as he went to speak.

"Now Alexi, we should not be so rude, our new student here will think that we are some kind of supremist institute."

The man, Alexi, while sitting down laughed aloud there, earning the annoyed gaze of many of his colleagues before they all got back to whatever tasks it was that they were performing.

"I do not think this young Dragon-Kin would think that way, as everyone should know that no one likes late arrivals, they always make for far more paperwork than what should be needed, and normally they end developing some kind of superiority compared to everyone else as they were able to enter when so many have been rejected a late admission."

Listening to Alexi's words, Dharen looked at the floor trying not to let the man know the words that he had in mind to share only moments before.

"Well then young Dragon-Kin tell me your name so that we can get this admission process started and finished as quickly as we can, so that it all can be sorted soon enough." Alexi said, having stopped his small conversation with the professor soon focused onto Dharen, making him look up away from the floor and focus onto the man.

"My name is Dharen, I have the talent of a tactician," speaking as clear as he could so that this could all be done as this as quickly as possible, as like many people that he had known, Dharen really did not like paperwork and only did it where it was necessary so that everything could function as it should.

Nodding his head the man jotted some information down, then looking up again he asked. "Where are you from? And although you will have a special entry like all talent possessing students, is there any sponsor that you have?"

The questions were reasonable enough Dharen thought, but he had no real idea what a sponsor was, not that this man seemed to care too much though.

"I do not know my home, or where I am from, just that I entered the Isle from the east, through Rivertown and I do not have a sponsor, not that I know what it is anyway." Alexi appeared to be shocked and surprised at him for a second before making some new notes on his paper and then turning it over he ticked and crossed through a checklist.

"It is beyond rare to see one of the Dragon-Kin not from the plateau but it should be fine I guess. Oh yes, what would you like your elective to be, there are only a few options that will not require magic so your choices are survival training, cooking and cuisine, construction 101 and also medicine 101."

Being told that he could not join any of the classes that needed magic confused him though. "Why not tell me about the magic related classes?"

Alexi looked surprised a little, "Well as I am sure you know, Dragon-Kin are incapable of using any form of magic, so I didn't see that there would be any point in telling you about them."

Hearing his words, Dharen went quiet. There was just too much he did not know in this world, and that started with himself.

"So your choice?" Alexi asked.

Not really thinking much, Dharen decided on the one involving survival training, after this was noted down to, he was handed a book that was titled as the student handbook and then he was taken away by the professor.

"What is next then?" Dharen asked, before he stopped looking forwards and a small group of people who possessed golden eyes, like him, all were staring at him in curiosity and confusion.
