Chapter 28 - Limelight. [3]

UBS News station's office.

A group of reporters had left their cubicles and were standing beside a coffee machine as they were gossiping about the largest development in the entire station, perhaps even in the entire country.

"Wow, this serial killer thing is really taking an interesting turn." Said a middle-aged reporter, carefully sipping a cup of hot coffee after nudging the discussion.

"Right? I thought it was a revenge murder covered up as a serial killing." Followed the nosey female reporter, carefully blowing her steaming cup of coffee as she joined the gossip-circle.

"Ah, you and your online conspirators." Another male report retorted.

"That's what everyone thought since there was no evidence of it being a serial killing." The female reporter replied.

"No. The flower thing made it very obvious that it was a serial killing." Interjected another female reporter as everyone agreed with her before she continued;

"But that's not important. The main issue is how we got the photos of the killings before the police discovered the victims." She said, pointing to the left corner office with its door closed and blinds shut.

"Exactly, it's weird that the killer would send him photos." The first male reporter voiced out the thought that everyone had.

"Hey! Do you get paid to stand around and gossip?!" The old man in charge screamed as he walked into the office and over to the group that immediately shushed him, excited to question the old man.

"Boss, did the killer really send him those pictures?" The nosey reporter asked using her soft voice.

"Ah, that… Yes, he showed me the pictures sent to his email." The old man replied awkwardly after having been ignored by the group.

"What about the police?" The other female reporter asked.

"They questioned him and told him to inform them of when he received any pictur- That's not the point! Get back to work!" The old man yelled at the group that quickly dispersed in panic as soon as the door of the corner office opened and UBS anchor / reporter, Choi Hyun-Woo stepped out.

He was about 1.8 metres tall with slick black raven-black hair that was part in ratio of three to seven and a long face with sharp features that were accentuated by his cold brown eyes. He was wearing a dark navy coat on top of his black suit with a shirt and black tie.

Choi Hyun-Woo was busy staring at his phone screen as he closed the door and walked past the cubicles.

"Where are you going?" The old man asked after clearing his throat.

Choi Hyun-Woo stopped and looked at him with a cold stare that sent shivers down the old man's spine as he nonchalantly replied; "Hospital.", before he silently walked out of the silent office.

"Scary fellow." The old man whispered as he turned around and entered his office.

Inside the hospital room.

Sun-Jae was sitting up as he was stubbornly turning his head away from Jin-Ah as she tried to feed him some fruits.

"I'm not paralysed, I can do it by myself." Sun-jae said, looking at Jin-Ah who stared back at him with an annoyed look before she dropped the plastic fork into the bowl and made a hissing sound with her mouth while raising her hand to threaten him, making Sun-Jae flinch back in fear.

"Learn how to appreciate kindness, you punk." Jin-Ah warned him, picking up the plastic fork and putting it in front of his mouth.

"You'll end up finishing me off at this rate," He joked, receiving nothing but a stern stare from Jin-Ah that made him give in.

"Alright, alright. I'll eat it." Sun-jae gave in, taking a bite of the sliced piece of apple as he chewed while making weird sounds before speaking; "Happy now?"

"You two fight like a married couple." Sun-Jae's grandfather chuckled, unpacking some of the things that Sun-Jae requested.

He turned 59 this year as he had greying hair with partial black. His face had wrinkles and his back was a bit hunched which didn't affect him at all aside from the usual backache. He wore a grey jersey and grey trousers.

"Grandfather, I will never marry this child." Jin-Ah replied, eating the bowl of fruits.

Sun-Jae was about to retort when there was a sudden knock at the door that slid open as Kang In-Hyuk entered along with Lee Jae-Sik and Kim Yeon-Hee who surprised Sun-Jae as they had never even had a full conversation.

"Hello, I'm Sun-Jae's colleague." Kang In-Hyuk introduced himself to Sun-Jae's grandfather along with Jae-Sik and Yeon-Hee who slightly bowed.

"How are you doing?" Jae-Sik asked, walking next to Sun-Jae's bed.

"I'm okay." Sun-jae replied with a simple smile. He took a peak behind Jae-Sik and Saw Yeon-Hee standing next to Kang In-Hyuk.

She had her hands inside the pockets of the black leather jacket she wore on top a black T-shirt with black jeans and black boots.

Yeon-Hee stood there awkwardly as she caught Sun-Jae staring at her with a curious expression on his face.

"She's really focused on this case." Jae-Sik whispered to Sun-Jae before Kang In-Hyuk spoke.

"Can we have a moment with Sun-Jae? We need to ask him some questions."

Sun-Jae's grandfather replied tersely as he and Jin-Ah left the room and stood outside. Kang In-Hyuk sat down on the chair next to the bed as Yeon-Hee took out a pen and a black notebook.

"Can you tell us what happened?" Kang In-Hyuk asked as the room went silent.
