Yeon-Hee and Dae-Bom were standing quietly in a dark room inside the NFS. The room had a single light in the center, shining down on the autopsy table with the covered up corpse of the murdered man. There was an observation window to her left that blurred with a passing figure who soon entered the room, flinching backwards at the frightening sight of two people standing just outside the light in absolute silence. The coroner was dressed in blue as they took off their mask, revealing herself as she stared at Yeon-Hee and Dae-Bom standing in the darkness outside of the light, staring back at her.
"Why are the lights off?" Ahn Se-Jeong asked in a creeped out tone as she took her hand out of her pockets and turned on the lights, an autopsy report inside a black folder resting in between her forearm. She was pretty in all aspects from looks to personality which is why people called her the "Autopsy Idol"
"Waiting for you." Yeon-Hee replied with her arms crossed.
"You could have come back later, you know. The body isn't going anywhere." Se-Jeong said as she walked over to the autopsy table and removed the white cover of the man, down to his waist. The rope scars on his stomach and arms had hardened as a stitched incision in the form of a "Y" travelled through the scars on his chest.
"I just want this over with." Yeon-Hee replied, walking over to the table.
'And as quickly as possible!' She thought as Se-jeong and Sun-Jae looked at each other and nodded in unison as she began to explain:
"The man's name is Kim Ho-Sung, thirty seven years old, unmarried and reported for heavy substance abuse multiple times. Time of death was two days ago, between nine and twelve in the night where he was tortured and beaten heavily till death," She paused and took the black report file and handed it to her, and continued, "When we examined him internally, huge amounts of alcohol and drugs were mixed in his system. One was a morphine and the other was a sleeping agent." She said and waited for Yeon-Hee to finish reading the report with a blank expression on her face.
"So he was drugged and dragged back to his place… how did he die?" Dae-Bom asked, staring at multiple lethal bruises and cuts that could be the reason for his death.
"I know what you're thinking, and no. It wasn't any of these injuries that killed him," Se-Jeong paused as she watched them digest the fact before she continued, "The extreme rope tying came first, constricting blood-flow around the body. Then followed by the beatings that started with a blunt weapon that hit all the painful parts, but missing the vital ones along with the weak cartilages. The victim was then forced to ingest large amounts of alcohol to the point that the bottles were shoved down his throat-" Se-Jeong paused as Yeon-Hee interjected.
"The drugs? The killer forced him those after?" Yeon-Hee asked about that detail that was seemingly left out. Se-Jeong shook her head and continued:
"No. They were injested before the incident," Se-Jeong answered and then went back to finishing her report, "The eye gouging was done last, and from these wounds it was a consecutive amount of times with a kitchen knife. The killer made sure not to stab too deep to kill him, though…" She paused with a and pointed to the chest, "Add all of that piled on top of the constricted blood flow and the extreme intake of alcohol and drugs… made his heart give out, resulting in death." She paused to let them digest all of that information.
Dae-Bom looked as if he was going to vomit as he could not even spare a glance at the corpse anymore. Yeon-Hee had a solid and unmoving expression as she clenched her jaw shut, observing all the injuries and replayed the scene of how the torture played out; the rope tying, calculated beatings, force feeding and eye gouging, all while the man begged and cried.
'He must have begged him to end his life at some point.' Yeon-Hee thought, placing the report on the table.
"The killer didn't make it quick. They wanted him to suffer, excruciatingly." Se-Jeong said.
"But why randomly do things like this?" Dae-Bom asked, still averting his gaze away from the body.
"It's not random," Yeon-Hee paused, pointing at the bruises, "The pictures at the apartment were all of Kim Ho-Sung's crimes. One of them was a picture of him assaulting his girlfriend with a hammer which was caught on camera," She said, pointing at the cuts on his lips, "After that, he later got intoxicated at a hostess bar and attacked another woman with a bottle this time and cut her lips," She then pointed to rope marks, "This one was on the news last, the Samtang incident."
"Ah! The hostage situation, I saw that. It was him then." Dae-Bom said, accidentally looking at the body, quickly averting his gaze again.
"You big baby." Se-Jeong mocked him, following with a few "Tsk."
"The hostage Kim Ho-Sung held captive had extreme rope burns from his reckless attempts to tie her up."
"So what? The killer was getting revenge." Dae-Bom said, looking at Yeon-Hee who stared at the corpse with a cold look lacking in empathy.
'In truth, it's what he deserves. But no one has the right to carry it out.' She thought as Se-Jeong covered the body up again.
