As Aki opened the door and stepped inside, the person accompanying him spoke up, "If there's anything you need, you can call us. There's a ring by the bed."
Aki nodded in acknowledgment, his curiosity piqued as he entered the room. He wondered about the background of the girl his mother had been treating like a princess.
As Aki entered the room and quietly closed the door behind him, he noticed a little girl with black hair sitting on the bed, deeply engrossed in a book. With careful, measured steps, he moved closer, curious to see what had captured her attention so fully. When he was close enough to glance at the book, a smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
"A book... No, a manga... And it's 'Demon Slayer,'" Aki whispered to himself, recognizing the familiar artwork. A sense of pride swelled within him, knowing that this popular manga, though originally created by someone else, was a story he had written in this world.
However, concern flickered in his mind. Is this really appropriate for a girl her age? "Demon Slayer" was known for its intense and sometimes violent scenes—not as much as berserker but certainly not what most would consider suitable for a child around 10 or 11 years old.
Thinking all of this and realizing that the girl was so engrossed in the story she hadn't noticed his arrival, Aki cleared his throat. "Ahem."
The girl jumped slightly at the sound, her concentration broken. She quickly looked up, her wide eyes locking onto Aki. For a brief moment, surprise flashed across her face, but she quickly composed herself.
"Are you Aki oni-sama?" she asked, her voice steady despite the sudden interruption.
Aki was taken aback. "Wow, you're quite mature for your age," he remarked, surprised by how calmly she was handling the situation. Most kids her age would have been startled, maybe even scared, to see a stranger suddenly appear in their room.
"People say that a lot," the girl replied nonchalantly, then returned her gaze to the manga, flipping to the next page.
"Is that so..." Aki mused, intrigued by her demeanor. "But how did you know I was coming? Did someone tell you?"
Without looking up, she answered, "Sister Shijo told me that her son would come to visit me instead of her."
Aki nodded, now understanding the situation. He pulled a chair closer to her bed and sat down. "I see. What's your name?" he asked, watching as she turned another page.
"Don't you already know?" she responded, a hint of curiosity in her tone. "But I guess it's fine to introduce myself. I'm Yuki Masachika, and I'm 11 years old. I'll be starting junior high next year."
" Masachka, huh... That name does sound familiar," Aki murmured, his curiosity piqued. "What does your family do? I feel like I've heard that name somewhere before."
Normally, Aki wouldn't pry into someone's background like this, but something about this girl felt different. He had a sense that she would understand why he was asking these questions.
"Hmm, both my parents are members of the Suou clan, so I get better treatment. Plus, it seems like Sister Shijo has taken a liking to me," she answered truthfully.
"That explains it. The Suou household has ties with the Democrats, after all. And my mother really wants a daughter, so it seems you've caught her attention," Aki explained.
After finishing the manga, Yuki closed the book and looked into Aki's eyes. "Then why can't she have one?"
"...I'm sorry, what?" Aki was momentarily stunned but then suddenly burst out laughing. "Hah haaa haa! Oh, you caught me off guard there! I wonder why she didn't give me a little sister already, haha..."
"Hehe," Yuki also giggled a little, then quickly composed herself, returning to her usual calm expression.
"...I've already seen you laughing, so you can stop pretending," Aki sighed as he rested his head on his hand, looking at Yuki intently, as if trying to expose her.
Feeling her cover blown, Yuki looked away from Aki's eyes and whistled softly, "Weewe..."
"That's more like it. Now you look like a proper kid," Aki said with a grin. "Were you trying to act like a cold anime character or something?" But then he noticed Yuki starting to sweat, and he exclaimed, "siriously?"
"Hmph," Yuki huffed, feeling embarrassed as she lay on her bed and covered herself with the blanket.
"I was kidding. I won't make fun of you," Aki said.
"Really?" Yuki peeked out from under the blanket to see if Aki was being honest.
"Yes, really. To tell you the truth, I also love anime, manga, comics, manhwa, and novels extra."
"Haha, you're already an adult and still watching anime? Are you a weeb, Aki-oni san?" Yuki teased, now showing her true colors after hearing Aki also watched anime.
"Now you're showing your true colors," Aki teased back.
"No, I'm always me," Yuki huffed.
"Okay, okay. So, when do your parents usually visit?" Aki asked, wanting to change the subject.
But Yuki's happy mood suddenly shifted. "I don't know," she replied.
"Eh? What… what happened? Did I do something wrong?" Aki wondered if he had made her sad.
"No, it's not that. Mom and Dad don't come together anymore like they used to, and my brother seems to know something, but he's hiding it," she sighed.
"Brother? How old is he?" Aki asked.
"Same as me," Yuki replied, a smile forming as she thought of her brother.
"Hmm, Yuki seems to love her brother," Aki teased.
"Yeah, I love him more than Mom and Dad," she replied.
"Is that so? It seems I don't have a chance to become your number one brother," Aki sighed in mock defeat.
"Hehe, you can try," Yuki laughed, teasing Aki.
Looking at the girl who was now laughing, Aki breathed a sigh of relief, glad he had managed to divert the conversation away from her parents.
They talked for about an hour, and soon it was time for Aki to leave. Standing by the door, he waved at the girl standing a little farther away.
Feeling emotional, Yuki asked, "Are you coming tomorrow, Aki-niisama?" Her tone had shifted to one of respect after their conversation.
Aki paused for a moment, remembering the events of yesterday, and realized what could happen tomorrow. He didn't show any of this on his face as he replied, "I don't know, but instead, I'll give you a surprise."
"What surprise?" Yuki asked, feeling a bit sad that Aki might not come tomorrow but thrilled at the thought of a surprise.
"Not much, but you better stop reading Demon Slayer."
"Why?" Yuki asked, puzzled.
"Well… how do I say it? Ugh, whatever. You're too mature for your age, so you can bear the truth. It's because half of the characters shown so far will die," Aki explained.
"...How do you know... And was that supposed to be a suprise?" Yuki asked with a puzzle face looking at him.
Although surprised, Aki responded, " no that not the surprise the surprise is your first question answer That's it it's because I'm the creator." With that, he shut the door.
"...Was he trying to play it cool? I shouldn't say this to him, but he can't be the Demon Slayer creator," Yuki sighed, thinking of the pitiful brother she had found today.
