The morning alarm went off, and Aki rubbed his eyes as he woke up. Unlike most people who might take a moment to linger in the haze of sleep, Aki quickly sat up, alert and anxious. His heart raced as he checked his surroundings and his own body, half-expecting to find himself in a different form. But to his immense relief, everything was normal—no body swap.
He breathed a deep sigh of relief and whispered, "Thank God." It was the small victories like this that brought him comfort in the midst of his chaotic life. Glancing at the clock on the bedside table, he realized it was already 8 a.m. He had woken up later than usual. "Maybe I was more tired than I thought," he muttered to himself, reflecting on the events of the previous day.
Aki made his way downstairs and found breakfast neatly covered on the dining table, along with a note.
Selly had written that she had to leave early to attend some work at his family's mansion, but she assured him that she would return by evening.
The note also mentioned that she had prepared breakfast for him. Aki nodded to himself as he read the note, appreciating her thoughtfulness. He sat down and ate the meal, savoring each bite.
After finishing breakfast, Aki clenched his fist, feeling a surge of determination. "I need to visit that little girl. It's better to go early rather than be late," he thought, recalling the promise he had made. He realized he didn't have anything pressing to do today, so spending time with her would be a good use of his morning.
Once he finished eating, he went to his room to dress up. Opting for a casual yet stylish look, he chose a Hawaiian print shirt paired with trousers and a nice pair of shoes. Despite his laid-back attire, he still managed to look perfectly put together—his natural charisma and confidence shining through.
Instead of taking his bike, Aki decided to drive a car this time. Although he had mentioned not having much experience with driving bikes or cars, yesterday's bike ride had given him some confidence. As for driving a car, he knew the basics—the protocols and how to operate it—though he hadn't actually driven much in practice. Still, Aki believed in his ability to learn quickly, so he decided to give it a go.
As he started the engine and pulled out of the driveway, his initial moments were a bit shaky. The car jerked slightly as he got used to the controls. But with each passing minute, his confidence grew, and his movements became smoother. By the time he was on the main road heading toward the hospital, his driving was steady and controlled.
"Not too bad," he thought, a small smile forming on his lips as he navigated the streets.
As Aki reached the hospital entrance, he noticed a girl sitting in the waiting area who looked oddly familiar. His steps slowed, and he stared at her intently, trying to confirm his suspicion. His heart raced as he moved closer, quietly observing her from a few meters away. She was scribbling something in a notebook, completely absorbed in her writing and seemingly unaware of his presence.
Aki took a moment to examine her face closely. The memories of his previous life flooded back. He sighed deeply, remembering the emotional turmoil she had caused him in that life. "You traumatized me for a decade in my previous life," he muttered under his breath, a mix of frustration and determination in his voice. "I even wanted to track down that lousy author and give him a piece of my mind. I never got the chance to do that, but now... now you're right here in front of me. This time, I can save you. And more than that... I will have you," he whispered with a hint of a smirk, his eyes gleaming with a newfound resolve.
The girl suddenly felt the weight of someone's gaze and glanced up, only to find a boy about her age staring directly at her. At first, she didn't think much of it and returned to her writing, but something about his intense gaze tugged at her memory. A split second later, she looked up again, more sharply this time, realizing who he was—her classmate, wasn't he?
Startled by the recognition, she blinked, but in the moment it took her to process it, Aki had already disappeared, leaving only his voice echoing softly in the air: "Pancreas, huh... I hope I can eat it for you."
For a moment, the girl sat frozen in place, a look of utter confusion on her face. "Wait, what? Did he just say he wants to eat my pancreas?" she thought, bewildered. She quickly glanced around, hoping to spot him again, but Aki was nowhere to be seen. Her cheeks flushed as she processed the absurdity of the situation.
"What a weirdo," she muttered to herself. Despite her attempt to brush off the encounter, her thoughts were in chaos. A classmate had seen her at the hospital, which was troubling enough, but his words were even more perplexing. Did he know about her condition? And what did he mean by wanting to eat her pancreas?
She ran through several theories in her head, trying to make sense of it. Maybe he was just muttering nonsense, or perhaps he had been talking to someone on the phone. Could it be that he was simply hungry and thinking about food? Another possibility crossed her mind, something she'd read in a book about how eating a part of someone could symbolically extend their life. But that idea seemed far-fetched and unlikely.
Sakura shook her head, not wanting to dwell too much on the bizarre encounter. "Probably just a coincidence," she thought, convincing herself that he must have been on the phone or talking to himself. She decided to let it go for now, but there was a nagging curiosity she couldn't ignore. As much as she wanted to dismiss the whole thing, she found herself wanting to understand more about this strange classmate who spoke so cryptically.
With a sigh, she made up her mind. "I'll talk to him in class," she decided. If he knew something about her situation, she wanted to find out exactly what. And if he didn't, well, at least she'd satisfy her curiosity about what kind of person would say something so weird. For now, she put her notebook away and tried to focus on the reason she was at the hospital in the first place.
Meanwhile, Aki was chuckling to himself as he drove down the hall. His inner dialogue was in full swing, creating a strange mix of amusement and introspection.
Evil Aki: "What was that? So cheesy, hahaha."
Good Aki: "What do you mean cheesy? She was my favorite for a decade. Of course, I'd feel a little something for her."
Evil Aki: "Lol, look who's here, a simp! Everyone, clap for him! Haha! You literally have so many heroines falling for you and more who will fall for you in the future. Why are you getting loyal to her now? And what if there's another one like her out there?"
Good Aki: "Okay, stop right there. I was never that much of a simp. I was just refreshing my memory. I want her, sure, but I also want Misaki, Suzuna, Ai, Kamiya, Shikimori, and the others to be happy, too."
Evil Aki: "That's my boy! Muhahaha!"
As his two sides bickered internally, Aki couldn't help but smirk. It was like watching a sitcom in his head, one where both the angel and the devil on his shoulders had very strong opinions. The playful banter kept his spirits high as he continued driving.
By the time he reached his destination, his inner monologue had faded into the background. The elevator doors opened, and he made his way up the path to the door, feeling more composed and focused. With a determined look, he went in, took his shower, and cleaned up. Getting out, he rang the next door.
