Chapter 32. He was worth everything
She hugged him. Tightly. The students gasped. What the hell...
"What's going on?", the leader of the trio band asked. It was the girl who had dissed Kaitlyn the time she was caught on video.
"Drama", another girl from the group replied with a scoff.
"Pretending to be his bestie but is still ogling for him...he doesn't even remember her anyways", the third girl added.
The two other girls looked at the third girl who had spoken with annoyed gazes.
"What?", the girl asked not showing any signs of remorse.
"That was too harsh. What if it happens to you?", the leader reprimanded.
"I was just saying", the third girl said in defense.
Alex met Daisy on the way. "Where's Ava?"
"She ran towards the medical department", Daisy replied amidst her panting.
Without a word, Alex dashed off and Daisy followed behind in her own pace
Meanwhile, in front of the medical department.
Ava held him tightly and didn't want to let go. She felt as though she was home again. He felt like home. He was home to her.
"Can you let go of me?", Kyle asked in tone filled with warning.
"No. You said you were sorry. I know you're blaming yourself for it but, it's not your fault. Don't worry. I won't hold it against you. It's not your fault", she sobbed without leaving him.
"I'll push you again, and this time it's all your fault", Kyle warned.
"No, you won't. Kyle you'd never do that", she said.
"I already did it once. Twice won't mean anything", he said. His patience was really getting thin.
"No. Please, you remembered me. Why act like you don't?! Please!", she begged.
Kaitlyn came to his side and tried pulling her away. "Leave him, Ava. You're hurting him. Can't you see he's still rehabilitating?!", she shouted the last part because she saw that there was already a crowd.
Ava gasped. That's true. He's hurt. That was like a wake up call for her as she slowly released her hand. Kaitlyn put her hand in the name of helping to pull her away and pushed her away.
The entrance to the medical department was built in such a way that you'd have to climb a flight of stairs before you reachbthe doors. The stairs were like those seen in ancient Chinese temples.
Ava widened her eyes and tried to balance herself but it was too late. She was going to fall. Maybe this would make her wake up. She closed her eyes and waited for her fall.
There were gasps everywhere as everyone covered their eyes in shock. If she fell from there, she won't die but would probably have to stay on a wheelchair for a year and that would be the end of her game as she won't be in the athletics team anymore.
However, Ava had grace this time. Alex arrived right in time and grabbed her before she could even reach the earth. He held her in his arms tightly, not allowing her to fall. Daisy heaved a deep sigh of relief and fell to the ground, her butt hitting the earth hard. She was relieved.
"Good job Lexie", she cheered.
"You should hold your girlfriend properly. Let her stop running around like a mad woman".
Alex eyed him and took Ava away in his arms. Ava was already weak and just leaned in his arms, whimpering.
"Take me home", she said.
"Yeah. But you'd have to treat your injuries first", Alex reminded.
"Huh?"
"Don't kill yourself for him! Can't you see how hard you're pushing yourself? Is it even worth it?"
"Yeah. Kyle is worth everything in this world".
Alex sighed and didn't say anything.
From where he stood, Kyle sighed in relief as Ava didn't reach the ground. It would have been a hassle if he was involved in her case.
Kaitlyn looked at him and her heart sank. Was he having second thoughts? Are his memories returning? She had to do something to make him hate her for good! How dare she? So scheming!
And at that moment, her mind wheels began to turn.
