Chapter 36. I hate you now

Ava looked at the woman that was seated behind the desk. The woman looked back at her through the rim of her glasses as though they were microscope which could see the depth of Ava's heart and give a reason why she had disgraced the school. An onlooker would think they were having a stare down.

"Good morning Madam Vee".

"There's nothing good about this morning. Look at the mess you created on the net".

"That wasn't my intention ma'am".

"Then was it mine? Huh?", the woman was so angry that Ava could see the veins on her forehead about to pop.

"The school has taken the news down. But what about you? Don't you know that you have a reputation? A reputation to keep?"

"But ma'am, I did nothing wrong".

"Oh ho...really now? You're even talking back at the dean?"

"I would never do such thing ma'am".

"Mind your behavior. Crestwood College is known for producing well-behaved students. Don't be a dent on that".

"Yes ma'am".

After Madam Vee had rained a few more reprimands, she finally let Ava leave the office. Ava walked out and closed the door gently. She rested on it with her eyes closed as she tried to calm herself down. She didn't do anything wrong but because it was Crestwood College...it has become something wrong. Because she was the queen of the lawn, it has become something so wrong.

When she opened her eyes, she saw Kyle walking towards her direction. She paused and suddenly stood erect. Did he remember her? Maybe he did after what happened yesterday. She smiled within, telling herself that it wasn't so bad after all.

"Kyle", she called.

"Don't call me. I don't know you", came the curt reply.

"Hey, don't use that tone with me", she said.

"Don't use that tone with you? Did you see what you have done online? I can't even live a life of solitude thanks to you".

"I... thought you had remembered me".

"Remembered you?", he said and scoffed. "I'd rather remember a zombie than remember you. You're not worth remembering. I can't stress my mind because of you. And just so you know, I have someone by my side. Stop looking for me", he said and was about to walk away.

"Hey!", Ava called out, her voice laced with anger. "You aren't going to leave before me again. Whenever you're done saying your piece you leave me to wallow in your belittlement".

Ava looked up at him."I'm not worth remembering? Kyle Compton, I hope you don't forget what you said today. If you do gorget, I will slap you and help you remember. I won't come after you again. Even if you remember. And just so you know, I hate you now".

After she had said that, she took a deep breath and walked away. Away from his life . She needed to live a normal life. She needed to create a life without him in it.

Kyle clenched his fists in anger at the lash out he had just received. What was she even saying?

He turned to the opposite direction and left.

At a corner, Kaitlyn stood an listened on, her lips, drawn up in an arc. "Remaining the last step".

Ava arrived at the lawn tennis pitch. She was already dressed in her practice clothes and joined the team. Miss Riley saw her and walked up to her

"Ava?"

"Yes Miss Riley", she answered and gave a bow in greeting.

"You won't be playing the game with us", the older lady said.

Ava's heart skipped a beat. "What?"

"Yes. That's what the dean said. Your behavior yesterday has brought bad eyes on our school, so for the time being, you're out. You may practice with us but you won't go for the game. Tyla will be taking your spot for tr now".

"Miss Riley, you know that this is wrong. How can my spot be taken away? What did I ever do wrong?", she asked, almost at the verge of crying.

"Your being the queen is your wrongdoing", the girl named Tyla spoke and and chuckled tauntingly.

Miss Riley looked at Tyla. "Tyla", she called her voice filled with warning.

"Sorry Miss Riley. I'll go take my spot now", she said while eyeing Ava. She had said the last sentence for Ava to hear.

Tears streamed down Ava's cheeks. "Get on your spot Ava. Gather your emotions".

"I can't gather them. I'm not playing anymore", she said and left.
