Chapter 35. Internet on fire
Ava came out after three minutes, the fragrance of the bitter lemon body wash wafting into every corner of the room and not leaving out the nose of the young girl that was there.
"You done already?", Daisy asked
"Yeah", Ava said as she rummaged through her wardrobe for pajamas. It's not like there was something there anyways. Not that she didn't have them, but, they were all soiled. How could you be so lazy Ava?
"What's the problem?", Daisy asked when she noticed her stressing out
"Nothing. Really", she said with her hand stretched towards Daisy like a wedge. No one was to find out. No one knew her so well except...him.
Finally, she found a white pajamas trouser and paired it with a white T-shirt. She let her hair fall down to her back, the black mass a fountain of ravenous fur. She looked beautiful. Ethereal even in that white outfit.
The two girls came down to the dining. The table was already set with a simple meal. However, the simplicity didn't shroud the artistic nature of the food that Mrs Bateman had laboured for.
Ava looked at her mom. "Mom, you never cook this. Why tonight?"
"Shush Ava, we have guests", she warned dotingly.
Ava did a zipping sign saying she won't talk again. She sat at the table, next to her mom while Daisy and Alex sat together.
"Bon appetit", Mrs Bateman said and they began to eat.
The meal had reached a certain point when Mrs Bateman suddenly asked. "Is this about Kyle? I mean your feet".
"Mom, not now", Ava said pleadingly.
"Then when? When do you want to say it?"
"Mom, I'm sorry", she said.
"For what baby?", Mrs Bateman asked, concern filling her eyes.
"For whatever I might have caused you".
Mrs Bateman sighed and placed her hands on her daughter's. "Look here baby, you've not caused me anything. You're my beloved daughter and i love you very much".
Daisy raised her hand and wiped a tear that was trying to stick out. This scene was so touching.
"I love you too mom", Ava said.
The dinner soon came to an end and Ava walked Alex and Daisy to the door.
"I'm so grateful to you two. I can't stop being grateful", Ava appreciated.
"No need for that. Friends do that for friends", Alex said with a smile. "Rest up and don't think if anything. Tomorrow is gonna be so hectic", Alex added.
Ava pouted. "Yeah I should ", she said.
She shared a hug with them before sending them off.
The following morning was a hassle as Ava was woken up by the merciless sound of her ringtone. The caller ID screamed CC authority and she knew that there was trouble. She picked up.
"Good morning ma'am", she greeted.
"Ava Bateman, you're needed in the school this instant".
"Yes ma'am".
The line died in a cruel beep and Ava heaved a deep sigh. She did her morning rituals quickly and left after gulping two mouthfuls of warm milk.
Crestwood College was brimming with excitement at the latest content that was created by their queen. The queen of lawn tennis. A lot of captions for it.
#the queen of lawn tennis is a man monger?#
#can't she do without men?#
#how can this whore be our queen?! Abdicate!#
Comments flooded the internet tainting her image.
#is that how she is? Pretending to be holy#

#crestwood college trains whores!#
#i hate that Ava Bateman. Thinking so high of herself?#
Ava was still unaware of the furnace she had created on the net through her small drama. She walked to the dean's office under the mocking gazes of everyone. However, she ignored it. It didn't matter. She didn't do something wrong. She was pure.
Finally, she came to the door and knocked on it.
"Come in", the voice that was streaked with passage of time responded.
Ava squeaked the doorknob and opened the door. Then, she walked in.
