Thanking Erica again who gave me a knowing look, I ran after Blaze. I followed the emo kid to the back side of the orphanage where I saw him picking up a stick and swinging it like a sword.
*SWISH* *SWISH* The stick made loud swishing sound by the power behind the swing. It was hard to believe a child could exert that much power. But that believe also stems from my previous world.
Shaking my head I approached him. The kid noticed my presence as he stopped swinging and turned around with an annoyed face.
"What do you want?!" The kid Growled aggressively. Easy there Sasuke.
"Emo ki- I mean big brother Blaze I want to ask something." Oops almost slipped there.
"What? Speak directly! Don't waste my time."
"Big sister Erica told me you know about the people coming from the Royal Academy?" Seeing the impatient of the kid I didn't beat around the bush and directly questioned.
"What of it?" He replied.
"Nothing much big brother Blaze I was just hoping you could tell me about the test they will conduct and the requirements to pass."
"Why should I tell you?" His reply made me want to smack him but I stopped. Think… what does an emo kid like him want… revenge? Yeah… can't give him that. Strength? Can't him that either. More time to train?
"How about I do all your chores so you could train more?" I offered, but he shot me down immediately.
"That won't work that old bitch would just give me more chores." Ahh! he said it!!! Uff! Leaving Peter Griffin meme aside he's right. The old bitch, his word, not mine, won't just let him do what he wants.
"Then what can I do for the information, I can do anything."
"Anything…" Emo kid asked with a glint. Yeah, anything what difficult thing a kid can even ask.
"Then swear on Heaven." Kid, do you think if I swear I can't break my word?
"I will swear on it but first tell me what you want." No way I'm going to agree to something without knowing.
"I-" Blaze hesitated before nodding to himself and continuing. "I want you to distract the guards outside the village chief's house." Blaze looked into my eyes as he finished. Good thing I didn't agree beforehand but meh I would have just backed out.
"Why do you want to distract the guard."
"So I can sneak inside his house." Blaze's answer immediately made me want to refuse but the curiosity got me so I pressed for more information.
"So you want to steal from the village chief. I can't help you with that."
"I'm not stealing! I'm just taking what belongs to me! That old man took my family's legacy and thought I wouldn't notice." Blaze retorted loudly. The hatred in his voice startled me.
An awkward silence permeated the atmosphere as Blaze and I stared at each other after his outburst. But it didn't last long as he spoke again.
"What? You in or not"
I seriously considered the pros and cons of accepting his request and after sometimes I nodded my head in agreement.
"Fine… I'm in."
"Then swear on Heaven."
"Yeah yeah. I swear on Heaven that I will help Blaze distract the two guards outside the village chief's house." The moment I uttered the words I felt a restriction around my heart, instinctively I knew if I went against my swear- no my Oath something bad would happen.
Looking back at Blaze. I saw him smirking.
"Wha-what was that?" I questioned him with a stutter which widened his smirk.
Immediately I knew I got played by a nine-year-old kid.
"That's an Oath on Heavens if you fail to complete the conditions you will become a cripple." His smug words proved my thoughts Goddammit so embarrassing.
"Agh just tell me the test conditions and requirements," I said, swallowing the bitterness from being played.
"Not now the Matron is coming, I'll tell you morrow at the same time and remember I'll be sneaking inside the village chief house next week when the monthly village meeting will be held," Blaze said as he broke into a sprint.
I also ran after him as I saw the old hah coming this way with a lantern.
.
The next day I woke up, I went to my day according to Magnus's memories. Doing chores and cleaning myself with other kids and then helping with some repairs of the orphanage.
It seems people from the Royal Academy will also inspect the condition of the orphanage. Maybe that's the reason the cheap old coot even spent a gold coin on that potion. She doesn't want to give Academy recruiters any reason to fault her.
"Hey, Magnus! Can you hold this for me?" A shout broke out my thought. Looking over I saw one of the last older kids holding a hammer while pointing at wooden ply.
"Sure Able," I replied and moved to hold the ply while Able nailed it on the broken part of the floor.
While holding the ply I couldn't help but think about the problem of gathering the SEV. From what I know there are three ways to gather SEV but two of them are impossible for the current me which leaves me with the third and last option. Even that is not easy but that one is easiest.
And that method is killing living beings and converting their souls into SEV. To be honest this would have been the hardest if not for being able to kill any living that has a soul which includes insects.
