With every preparation done, I hid my Zeeshu-scented clothes in a bush and hid myself in another bush beside it.
Now the bait is ready all I have to do is wait for the prey.
And wait I did for like 30 minutes before an animal showed. It was a limping wolf which caused me to hold my breath. It was an instinctual reaction I never came this close to a predator, at least not one that is not locked behind a bar.
I waited for the wolf to leave and fortunately, it did after drinking some water. For a moment I thought of following the wolf and ambushing it because it looked quite injured and was alone without a pack. But I stopped myself because the wolves are known for their senses especially their hearing and sense of smell which the latter isn't a problem but the former is very much so. I don't believe I can sneak behind the wolf without alerting him.
After the wolf left I continued waiting for my prey and luckily I didn't have to wait long because my target— a bordur showed up some twenty minutes later.
It sniffed the air a few times and immediately its gaze locked onto the bushes where I hid my clothes. The bordur excitedly ran to the bushes and started scrambling through them.
I didn't waste time nor did I wait for it to find my clothes and lunged at it with a knife that looked more like a sword in my tiny hand.
I used my inhumane agility to climb its back and stab its neck all the way to the hilt of the knife.
The border thrashes as he struggles to throw me off but I strongly hold on to its deer-like antlers.
After struggling for a minute or two it finally collapsed not before releasing one last whimper.
"Tenacious bugger!" I spat as I tied its body and hung it on a thick tree branch by a rope.
I quickly went to work and started butchering the bordur, not even draining its blood to avoid wasting time as I didn't have much since the predators could smell the blood.
Quickly gutting it and throwing away the wastage parts far away to create distraction I started chopping off big chunks of meat and parts that had fewer bones, leaving the parts that had bigger and thicker bones. After I had extracted some 15 kilos I quickly put on my pants while wrapping the meat in my shirt and tying it on my back.
Once I was done I started running towards the village.
"Zeeshu's scent will distract the predators." Those were my thoughts as I ran towards the village. But not a few seconds later I felt being trailed.
Looking back my eyes instantly zoomed into the wolf following me—the same injured wolf.
The wolf's pace was slow due to its injury and I would have easily outrun it with my improved speed but I was carrying fifteen kilos of meat on my back that was disproportionately big for my small body. I doubt if I wasn't wearing oversized clothes I could have carried all fifteen kilos in them.
Looking back once again I scanned the wolf for its injury.
It had a few bite marks, an injured leg and most importantly a bloodied eye which means he's probably half-blind. A simple plan quickly formed inside my brain and I didn't waste to execute it.
I slowed my speed to let the wolf slowly catch up to me and when the wolf was just a hand distance away I maintained that pace making the wolf impatient and lunge at me.
The moment I felt the wolf in the air I stopped myself abruptly and with great agility spun while bringing out the butcher knife. I used the wolf's inability to change directions mid-air and stabbed it in the neck. The wolf fell down on me but luckily I didn't get injured due to my durability and my meat bag cushioning the fall. Sliding the wolf off of me I couldn't help but exclaim.
"Woah! Can't believe I didn't freeze. Must be due to my new job-pfff" I chuckled at the end and started to feel tired all of a sudden. Huh? Did I enter some kind of adrenaline rush state?
Shaking my head I looked at the wolf's body and thought what to do with it. I don't want to leave it here as I know I will get quite a lot since nobles like wolves' pelts. And the town isn't far from here.
"Yosh! it's decided I'm dragging the wolf."
With that decided I started to drag the wolf but before that, I opened my status screen.

Looking at my increased SEV I whistled.
"whistle~ so a wolf gives me 5 SEV and the bordur gives 4 SEV equals to 5 chickens and 4 chickens souls respectively. I don't know whether to feel happy or disappointed at SEV earned by risking my life. Killing chickens is easier and more cost-effective." Leaving aside my complicated feelings I put the 10 SEV in the constitution bringing it to 0.09.
I felt the familiar tingling sensation followed by the cool pleasant rush. After it ended I felt some of my energy returning from the adrenaline rush state and with that, I dragged the wolf to the village.
It took me an hour to reach the butcher's house. I could have reached here faster but I had to change my direction multiple times to avoid anyone seeing my game. I do not want anyone to inform the old hag.
Shaking my head in amusement I pushed the door open with my leg. Hehe, I can't wait to see Billy's reaction and I didn't get disappointed because when his eyes landed on my game they bulged out comically.
"Sweet mother Rina!!!"
