I trained till sundown and by then I started to feel hungry again so I decided to stop by the tavern before heading to the orphanage.
After having a small meal worth two bronze coins to not raise any questions I returned to the orphanage to see the old coot serving the night meal early.
Prolly cause of the monthly village meeting.
Ignoring my thoughts I joined the line after picking up a plate. Hehe boi… that's why I had a light meal I anticipated this.
I mean it was a logical thinking and not because my brain becomes a quantum computer when things are related to… food.
"Hey!" My thoughts got interrupted. I looked back and saw an irritated Blaze standing.
"What the hell are you daydreaming about!?" He almost shouted.
"It's night," I replied on a reflex which was bad…bad decision cause the emo gritted his teeth so hard I thought they would turn powder.
"So what do ya want?" I said changing the subject.
Blaze took a few deep breaths and replied.
"Meet me at the usual place after everyone goes to sleep." He said and returned to his beloved… corner not even waiting for my reply.
"kay…."
Ignoring the emo in favour of the porridge, I started eating slowly as it was hot but the old hag didn't let me as she shouted at us to eat quickly.
Looking around I saw the immediate effect of her words as the children started to eat their meal quicker.
"Sigh~" sighing I also started to eat quicker.
Fifteen minutes later we were all done and then the old hag ordered us to quickly return to our room. After we did as told she checked every room and blew out the lantern.
I waited for other kids to sleep which did not take long as they were too tired from their busy day. Once I was sure they were asleep I snuck out of the room and reached the backside of the orphanage where I found Blaze sitting.
"You're late." He stated.
"I came as fast as I could," I replied.
"It's not fast enough."
A vein popped out on my forehead.
Calm down… calm down Magnus… he's just a kid, an emo avenger but a kid nonetheless and you're an adult.
"Not replying? It seems your brain is just as slow." Ahh fuck being an adult I'm gonna beat the shit out of this smug sonovabitch.
I threw out a punch but the smug bitch dodged it and retaliated with his own punch which I barely evaded. I smirked at his wide eyes which was a bad decision as the next moment I found myself on the floor with a tip of a sword at my neck.
I gulped down and pleaded.
"I'm sorry! Don't kill me please!"
Whatever pride I had as an adult I swallowed and shot him my best puppy eyes to which his face twisted in disgust.
But regardless my super secret attack worked as he retracted his blade and turned around.
"Follow me." He said and started running. I looked at his back and swore to heaven I would have my payback before running after him.

"Listen all you have to do is distract the guards and not get caught for your own good," Blaze instructed before he turned towards me and continued with a smug look.
"Is that clear or do I have to dumb it down?" Oh, how I wish I had the power to drill a punch in his smug skull. Now I understand why all those fanfic MCs become so power-hungry, it was to bitch-slap smug young masters. Yes now I can comprehend what 'Might Makes Right' means. If only I had power I would have spank this unruly child.
"Yeah-yeah I got it," I replied before he could further insult me.
Blaze nodded as his smug face became serious. He quickly retreated to some distance and waited for me to distract the guards.
I carefully looked at the guards guarding the gate and thought what to do to distract them.
Not coming up with any idea I used the oldest trick used in these scenarios.
I picked up a stone and tossed it to the guards before shaking the bush I was hiding.
But it seems the guards were 'professional' as they didn't even care and continued with their important conversation.
"What the fu…?" I muttered as I felt the Blaze's judge full eyes on my back.
Annoyed at my failed attempt I picked another stone and this time without holding back threw straight into the face of the guard.
Not waiting to see the result I threw another stone at the remaining guard before giggling loudly to attract them. Once their eyes landed on the bush I was hiding I quickly dashed out towards the forest.
The guards saw my silhouette and shouted at me with their bloody noose before running after me.
They ran after me to the forest but I was faster with my small body and stats similar to an adult. I easily dragged them into the forest and could have lost them whenever I wanted but Blaze wanted me to distract them long enough for him to enter the chief's house and exit it with his family heirloom.
I was taking it easy when I saw a shadow lunging at me from my peripheral vision. I quickly ducked and rolled over to the other side.
Immediately, I stood up only to see a black panther staring at me with its yellow shining eyes.
Shit! I cursed inwardly only to curse again as the guards arrived.
"Double shit combo!!!"
The guards, me and the panther had a three-way stare-down before the guards drew out their spears and pointed them at the panther. Of course, they ignored me in favour of the panther as I was just a kid.
The panther growled at them before slowly retreating back and merging into the dark forest. No doubt waiting for an opportunity to attack.
The guards didn't give him such an opportunity though as one of them carried me and started running towards the village followed by the other.
"I'mma tan yo bloody hide, ya lil shit." The guard carrying me said but I ignored him as Blaze's words kept repeating in my head.
'Kill them if they find your identity for your own good.'
