Shaking my head in amusement I pushed the door open with my leg. Hehe, I can't wait to see Billy's reaction and I didn't get disappointed because when his eyes landed on my game they bulged out comically.
"Sweet mother Rina!!!" Ignoring the name of the first queen of Arendelle I burst out in laughter that seemed to bring Billy out of his shock.
"Bloody hell! How in seven hell did you kill a damn forest wolf!" Billy asked as he approached me and examined the wolf's body before his eyes fell on my meat sack… god that sounds wrong in my head.
"What do you mean, how? I stabbed his bloody neck with the knife, can't you see?" Deciding to mess with him I replied like it was the most obvious thing. His reaction didn't disappoint me again as he looked at me in disbelief and started muttering something even unhearable to my enhanced hearing.
Leaning in to hear him clearly, I heard him muttering Genius again and again like a broken record.
"I think I broke him…"
Ignoring the broken records Billy I dropped my meat sack on the counter… ugh again it sounded wrong. Am I that dirty-minded?
Shaking my head I dragged the wolf's body towards the counter before slapping Billy hard which fixed his broken reel.
"Kid!!!" He shouted and clapped my shoulder.
"Wow, Billy! promoted me from brat to kid?" I joked to which he snorted.
"Calling ya a brat, same as others at the orphanage after this" he pointed at the wolf. "Never! Ya strong and a genius! A genius that will rise to a higher position in future. It's better I make 'ome connections now Bhahaha" he finished with a laugh.
Ignoring his blatant exploitation I said.
"Ohh! Is that so? Then how much would ya pay for my meat for the sake of those connections, huh?." My lip twitched the moment I finished. And it seems I wasn't the only one with a dirty mind seeing the look of disgust flash on Billy's face.
Acting my age for once I dropped the meat sack- bag? from my back as if oblivious to my previous comment.
I opened the knot on the cloth causing the meat to spread out.
"So… how much for the wolf and this premium bordur meat?"
Billy didn't answer instead he brought out the weighing instrument with two big plates and placed the whole meat bag on one of the plates. He then started placing iron balls with numbers and only when he placed fourteen big ones and some small ones did he stop.
"Hmm? 14 kgs almost 15 kgs, hain? So how much?" I questioned again and this time Billy answered.
"Normally I would give 10 to 15 bronze coins for a kilo worth but since yo ma cute little genius favourite employee… how bout 20/kilo, aye? I'm being generous here ya know? Them meat won't sell ere. I'll ave to sell em to the nearest town." Billy said while also weighing the wolf.
I thought about his offer for few a seconds before nodding. I mean I won't get a better offer and he really have to sell the meat to a bigger town since no one in this small village can afford such expensive meat. He prolly have to hire a guard too since journeys between the village and town can be dangerous.
Ohh! I by no means think Billy is taking a loss here since he would definitely sell and buy other things in the town so yeah… the fat butcher def gonna make some coins but again I'm also not making any loss here.
"Good!" Billy's loud voice brought me out of thought.
"So the Bordur meat is 15 kilos and the total meat extracted from the wolf is 20 kilos… 20 bronze coin per kilo that means…" Billy clumsily started adding on a paper that almost made me chuckle. It was funny a six foot full belied man struggling with maths.
"700 bronze or 7 silver coins," I answered the basic multiplication. Billy looked up from the paper before going back to adding thirty-five 20s on the paper sheet. Yeah… the fat butcher didn't believe me.
*Cough* *Cough*
After five minutes Billy coughed embarrassedly as his paper showed the same answer.
"'Ere your 7 silver coins," he said and handed me a pouch containing the coins. I opened it and saw seven glittering pure silver coins with the side profile of the first king.
I looked back at Billy and questioned with some hesitation.
"Hey Billy, while you're in the town. Can you get me a book about the Royal Academy?"
Billy looked at me silently and for a moment I became nervous thinking whether it was some forbidden knowledge. I mean in ancient times nobels always tried to hide anything that could lead to a revolt from the common people.
So it is pretty logical that the nobles made the knowledge about the power system of this world forbidden for the common folks here.
Just as I was going ask Billy to forget what I said he bellowed in laughter and clasped my shoulder again. It's painful.
"Bhahahha! Sure! That would be five silver."
I clenched my teeth and suppressed the urge to sock his neckless face.
It's not worth it Magnus it's not worth it. I reminded myself and handed him the coin.
After tying the coin sack inside my loose pants, I went to get the knife to start with the daily order but Billy stopped me.
"No work today kid… not anymore. I 'ave to leave quickly if I want to return fore the monthly meeting." Billy explained as he pushed me out of the shop and closed it.
Well… it's better since I'm low on energy and I hardly believe Billy's food would have been enough.
Shaking my head I went to the village tavern and brought three meals… in Billy's name. I don't want the tavern owner to question me or tell the old coot.
After paying for the meal I went to the outskirts of the village and sat in the shade of a tree and started eating the chicken stew and bread.
And it was delicious! The most delicious I have eaten since coming here. The stew has an ample amount of chicken cut into small pieces alongside some carrots and potatoes. The seasoning wasn't heavy but it had a unique taste something I had never tasted even in my previous life. Not surprising considering I always preferred spicy food like Mexican and Indian.
Once I finished the food, I lay by the tree and waited for my stomach to digest some before moving and heading back to the village. I ate damn too much and my stomach hurts with every breath.
It took me an hour before I felt like I could move without bursting my stomach. I did not return to the orphanage as the old hag would just give me chores and that would not be productive.
I thought of going back to the forest to hunt some more but thought against them as that was dangerous and not productive as well.
After thinking some more I decided to train and test the limits of my new stats. I also think I don't have much control over my body so it will also help me with that.
