Thirteen years ago, a little girl crawled out of a place that was filled with endless darkness. Screams of violent terror and unimaginable creatures lurked around inside. Storms filled with rage and the air filled with a heavy gas that made your lungs turn into iron. It's quite the surprise that a little girl no more than three can make it out unharmed and alive.
The girl was later adopted by a lovely girl in her late teens. The girl brought her to a village known as Sunrise village. It lies on the outskirts of the Sun and Moon Kingdom, next to the forbidden place known as the Abyss. Sunrise comprises rustic cottages with thatched roofs and cobblestone streets, surrounded by verdant meadows and orchards. At the center of the village stands a majestic oak tree known as Dawn, which is said to have stood watch over Sunrise since time immemorial. Every time when they had some sort of gathering or festivals, it would always take place around Dawn.Â
The little Girl is named Yuki, and the lovely girl is her only relative who gave up her future for her. She was the one who named her Yuki, which means snow. She has been told the story many times, and he holds onto the memories like a cherished keepsake. However, She could not hold on to the memory of what happened thirteen years ago when she crawled out of the place full of nightmares. Her brain seems to have erased those memories from her head. She also seems to hold memories from a past life, but they're too far away for her to depict any of them.
Ria, her sister, has tanned skin and beautiful raven hair. She has an oval-shaped face and a pointed chin. Her most distinctive feature is her emerald eyes, which are full of kindness and warmth. Ria always wears her favorite clothes, a white dress with a brown vest. She works as the trader for their village because of her high education. Her parents hired tutors for her at a young age because they wanted her to marry into royalty. They sent her to school in the capital of the Sun and Moon Kingdom. However, she never passed the exams and failed to get her certification. Even though she did not pass the exams, she still received an excellent education from her tutors.
Yuki has an oval-shaped face, and a chiseled chin with two small white horns sticking out of her head. Her skin was white like a ghost and had gray eyes. She was very thin for her age, almost appearing skeletal. Not that she did not eat, but her body refuses to keep on weight. Yuki's most distinctive feature is her mop of snowy hair that goes down to her waist. She wears a red tunic and brown skirt. She has never felt the need to grow her hair out, as he finds it easier to care for it short. But Ria always insists on letting it grow, as it reminds her of her mother's long crimson hair. Yuki always tries her best to please her, so she agrees to let it grow.
Although they are not related by blood, they love each other like brother and sister. Ria loves Yuki like her own child and treats her as such. She is always there for her and will do anything to protect her. Yuki is extremely fond of her older sister and sees her as her hero. She looks up to her and admires her greatly. The two of them are inseparable and are rarely seen apart.
Thirteen years have passed since Ria adopted Yuki, and she is now sixteen years old. Old enough to awaken her own spirit and become a practitioner of Kongli. Kongli has been the way to practice since ancient times and has been becoming more refined after the creation of the Abyssal Plane.
"My little darling! It's time to head out to the Spirit Star Platform." Ria's soft voice calls out to Yuki.
Spirit Star Platform is an ancient stone platform which lives in the middle of a wide-open field. An enormous crowd of villagers had gathered to celebrate this day. Yuki, dressed in a blue tunic and white pants, emerges from a humble cottage.
"Sister, what's so important about this? I'd rather help you out with work than awaken something useless." Yuki responded, opening up the hard oak door, taking in a deep breath of the morning air and blocking the bright sun from burning her eyes.
"Don't say that! Maybe you can awaken something special." Ria said.Â
"Here, look at mine." Suddenly a blue flower bloomed open her hand and blue mist trickled out of her body. It looked so beautiful, and the blue mist swirled around, forming a beautiful shape of a blue dragon.
"It's beautiful..." Yuki said in awe. Ria smiled and used her flower to water the nearby plants.
"Do your best ok." Ria smiled and put away her spirit and kissed her forehead.
Yuki nodded her head, and her eyes stayed on her sister for a while. Her stare was so obvious that Ria looked at her and waved her hand in front of her.Â
"What's wrong?" she asked her. Yuki came back to her senses hearing her words and replied. "Sister, how strong are you?"
"You wanna know my strength?" Ria giggled and stretched out her hands. "Come on and follow me and I'll tell you on the way to the Spirit Star Platform."
The two siblings set off to the Spirit Star Platform. They walked down the messy cobblestone path and slowly made their way while chatting, ignoring the cries of birds and insects around them.
"Since you want to know my strength so badly, I'll tell you." Ria said. "I'm actually not that strong. I'm only level 22, which is Rank 8: Commoner Class. Though my strength may be the best out of the entire village, it isn't much compared to those star knights in the Sun and Moon kingdom."
"Why don't you train and get stronger?" Yuki asked her.Â
"It's not that I don't want to get stronger but training isn't the solution to everything. Also, Kongli requires both physical and mental talent to train, I have none of that." Ria answered, her eyes lowering and her fist clenched.Â
"But Yuki, if you have the talent for practicing, please keep yourself safe and don't push yourself. Although my parents died at the hands of those umbraviath, you don't need to seek revenge yourself." A bit of mist came out of Ria's eyes, but covered it up.
Yuki lowered her head after hearing her reply and clenched her hand in comfort. She always had thought that he also could not practice Kongli as he had no clue what happened to her parents, the origin of her birth. She knows everyone is bound by blood, but her parents are completely a mystery.
But I'll still get revenge for my sister…
"Don't worry! Even if you cannot train in Kongli, you still have the talent of trading." Ria pinched Yuki's cheek, breaking her out of her train of thought. "With that I'm sure you will become a prominent merchant in the future!"
"Even if I'm talented, it's a lot of work and not as exciting as being a star knight," Yuki complained.
"Star Knights are not that all they're cracked up to be." Ria laughed.
The two of them continued to walk towards the Spirit Star Platform. The weather was perfect and a cool breeze blew through the fields. It was a lovely day to awaken one's spirit.
"We're here." Ria stopped walking and pointed forward.
Yuki lifted her head and saw a big stone platform in front of her. On the platform, a young girl stood beside a middle-aged man, they both had robes on them with a sun overlapped with a star.
"They're from the Light Star squad." Ria said, seeing Yuki's curious gaze. "Their specialty is in healing."
"This is a lot bigger than I imagined." Yuki exclaimed, staring at the vast crowd that stood on the stone platform.
"Yes, it is quite a big gathering." Ria replied. "After all, all nearby villages come here to awaken their spirits."
Taking a quick look around, Yuki took her first step and joined the crowd. Many of the villagers recognized her, giving her encouraging looks. They were excited to see what spirit he would awaken.
"Good luck." Ria waved at her.
Yuki walked up to the center of the platform and waited for the ceremony to start. Her sister already told her the entire process and what to expect. However, he still felt nervous about her first experience in awakening her spirit.
As the crowd quieted down and all the kids who were sixteen stood on the platform, the middle-aged man began the ceremony.
"Welcome, one and all." The middle-aged man said in a loud voice.Â
"Today, we will have a ceremony for these children to awaken their spirits." A line of girls and boys appeared on the Spirit Star Platform. There were 55 boys and girls in total.Â
"Every person is different, and their spirits will also reflect that individuality. I wish everyone success and safety when awakening their spirits." As he spoke, a mass amount of silver mist came out of the old man and the stone platform glowed a white light.Â
