Chapter 5 - Flurries of the Frozen Heavens

The temperature around Yuki didn't return to normal after being struck, but dropped even further.

Seeing Yuki fall to the ground with blood leaking out of the back of her head, Ria couldn't help but become enraged. She forced herself to stand up and rushed over to her.

"You think I'd let you do that?" The spear user said arrogantly and threw the same spear at her, aiming right at her heart.

Yuki, who was on the ground could see all of this with her blurry vision, but felt as if something came back to her and a rush of memories flooded her brain.

"Look! Look! See, our newborn can see us now!" A woman's sweet voice echoed in Yuki's head. The woman was holding a newborn baby in her arms while smiling and pointing at her husband. The husband was smiling and holding the newborn's hand and moving it left and right.

"Look, the webs of her palms look like a snowflake." He whispered.

Yuki stared at them in wonder. These two people seem so familiar, and their voices seem so close to her heart.

"From now on you'll be called Xue Hua. Snowflakes are pure and beautiful, just like you." The woman said sweetly and held the baby closer to her chest.

"Look, darling! It's even snowing!" The woman said, pointing out the door.

It was at this moment that Yuki realized she was actually in an igloo. The igloo had many intricate patterns of snowflakes on the walls and a few handcrafted vases containing dried flowers. Outside was a beautiful white landscape with snowflakes falling down.

Yuki gazed outside of the igloo and felt some sort of connection with the falling snow flakes. it was almost like an instinct in her body was telling her to raise her hands into the air.

Yuki, listening to her instinct, raised her hands into the air and let her energy flow through her. This was all seen by the people in the real world, such as Ria.

Still in dreamland, Yuki felt some sort of energy get attracted to her hand. It was then that she noticed she was flying in the sky, but when she looked below she didn't see the igloo anymore, but a breathtaking view of blizzards and ice. She felt as if she could control the energy flowing in the sky, so she raised her hand and summoned it.

In front of Yuki's hand was a ball of snow with white flakes twirling inside and a layer of frost on the outside. She threw it forwards and it suddenly stopped and exploded into many smaller snowflakes.

While in the real world, that ball of white snow actually hit the spear that was about to pierce her sister's chest.

Ria started with wide eyes at the sudden explosion of ice that saved her life. The spear user, along with his two buddies stared at the direction of the blast.

Isn't this a spirit skill? How could a level ten perform a skill? the man thought, looking at the bloody girl on the ground. He could have sworn that he didn't feel any Kongli energy coming from her.

While everyone was bewildered about what just happened, Yuki started to slowly get up with shaky legs. She finally digested all the fragments of memories she had stored in her.

"So I'm not from this world." She muttered in daze. The skill she just used is from one of her parents. Although she didn't know who or what her true origins were, she could understand some things.

As she thought this, she looked down at her sister's current situation. She saw blood leaking out from her wound. Ria had a pale face and a slight tinge of anger and fear was in her eyes. She looked as if she didn't know what to do.

Yuki gritted her teeth and clenched her hands into fists. Her Kongli energy started to surge and release an icy aura. She felt angry inside of her at these bastards who would dare hurt her family. With the snow around the battlefield, Yuki manipulated it and turned them into sharp icy snowflakes.

"Zone skill?" The man with the two daggers said. "Shouldn't those with level 71 and above have such skills?"

Yuki's blood drenched hair swayed gently as she raised her head. Her gray eyes seemed to radiate a freezing cold that froze the area. Her skin became deathly pale, and on her right palm appeared a violet dragon with a snowflake tattoo.

"First Spirit Skill: Flurries of the Frozen Heavens!" Yuki yelled out as a storm of blizzard came from behind her and thousands of snowflakes stormed towards the enemies.

The man who had a spear on his back hurriedly used his second spirit skill. "Second Spirit Skill: One Thrust!" He yelled out and the spear on his back suddenly burst forth and cut through the blizzard and ice, shattering it into many tiny pieces.

"Third Spirit Skill: Compressing Wind" The cloak man with long sleeves said as he waved his hands creating a gust of wind, pushing back the blizzard, freezing the surroundings.

The dagger man simply raised his daggers and slashed the blizzard, creating an opening.

Yuki's forehead started to leak out blood and her ice dragon tattoo started to glow slightly violet and white. She used the wind from her enemy to make the blizzard more chaotic and faster, using the dagger man's opening to engulf them.

The men became trapped inside the blizzard and couldn't see anything except for a raging storm of wind, ice, and snow. They were starting to lose their focus and couldn't breathe easily, and kept on getting cut by the snowflakes in the air.

Yuki could no longer stand and fell to the ground with a dull thud. The dragon tattoo on her hand started to fade and so did the blizzard.

"It's over," Ria muttered in defeat. She saw Yuki's dragon tattoo fading and knew what it meant. It meant Yuki used all her energy and was unable to continue fighting.

The blizzard dissipated and only the three men were standing. Their clothes were ripped and had multiple cuts on their body and their faces were a shade of pale blue, almost as if they froze to death.

The spear user was the most heavily wounded, as his chest had a deep gash on it. He clenched his teeth and picked up his spear in his hand. He turned towards Ria and Yuki, who were both on the ground and ragged breathing. He gripped his spear tightly and it suddenly glowed a light golden color.

"First Spirit Skill: Fusion Spear of Earth." He yelled out and a few brown spears emerged from the ground and aimed straight for Yuki and Ria.

Ria lifted her head and saw the spears coming straight at them, almost like an arrow from a bow. She gritted her teeth and stood up, walking in front of Yuki.

"Don't do it sister! It's too dangerous!" Yuki said through her ragged breaths as she tried to move her sister away.

"I will not let them hurt you! You're my precious sister." Ria said softly, trying to sound calm in front of her sister, even though she was about to die. She was the big sister, so she needed to take responsibility and protect her younger sister, even if it meant sacrificing herself.

A warm feeling filled Yuki's chest, and tears started to flow down her face as she couldn't do anything to help her dear sister.

At this moment, both Yuki and Ria heard a roar coming from the skies. A pure black dragon came down and swept its tail at the spear, shattering it into pieces, and with its claws, grabbed the three men by their chests and flew back up into the sky.

They couldn't believe what they saw with their own eyes, so they looked at each other in shock, only to find themselves blacking out.
