Chapter 10 - Entering the Dragon Sect

Yuki followed Meng Li through the air to a large city that was surrounded by massive walls that were covered in runes that glowed brightly under the sunlight. She could also see an enormous golden dragon that circled around the city protectively.

"That's the Immortal Dragon Emperor, his dragon form is called 'Zhan Long'. He's been guarding this place for the last 1,000 years." Meng Li explained as they approached the city gates.

"Senior Li, this place is obviously different from the other place you took me to enter the Dragon Sect." Yuki said, changing Meng Li's name to Senior out of respect.

Meng Li smiled lightly and nodded her head.

"This is where the real sect begins. The Dragon Sect is split into 4 levels. The lower Sect, outer sect, inner sect, and core sect." She explained.

"Which level are we on now?" Yuki asked curiously as she followed behind Meng Li who was walking through the massive gate and entered the city proper.

"This is the outer sect. The lower sect is where disciples enter and level up until they reach level 10, after which they become an outer sect disciple." Meng Li answered as she led Yuki through the busy streets full of people, all of them dressed in dragon silk robes.

"For inner you must reach level 50 and become a true dragon. From then on you can choose to become a core disciple and enter the Core Sect or the Headmaster's special training ground." Meng Li continued as she stopped in front of a large building with a sign above the door that read 'Dragon Sect Task.

Yuki nodded her head as she gazed at the building in wonder.

"Where's the Headmaster's special training ground?" Yuki asked.

"It's somewhere outside of this city and only core disciples are allowed to enter." Meng Li said before she entered the building and went inside. Yuki followed her into a large hall that had several groups of disciples gathered around chatting animatedly with each other.

The room itself was quite spacious and filled with various furniture such as desks and chairs as well as tables where people could sit down and rest their feet.

There were several shelves stacked against the wall full of scrolls and books that were neatly arranged. The ceiling was high up in the sky and there were a few windows near the top allowing natural light to shine down onto the floor below. The walls were made out of different shiny materials and were decorated with various paintings depicting scenes from dragon history.

"This is the task center of the Dragon Sect and the most important place in the sect." Meng Li stated as she approached a counter and began talking with the disciple behind it.

The disciple nodded his head before disappearing into the back room while Meng Li turned around and looked at Yuki who was staring around at everything with wide eyes.

"You like what you see?" Meng Li asked with a grin.

Yuki nodded her head vigorously as she glanced at everything around her, amazed by the sight.

"Is this how big the Dragon Sect is?" She asked excitedly as she gazed at all of the other people around her who were busy talking amongst themselves.

"No. This is just the outer sect task center. It's nothing compared to the true dragon city." Meng Li said before she continued talking with the disciple behind the counter.

After a few minutes the disciple came back carrying a bundle of scrolls. He placed them on the counter and handed them over to Meng Li who took them gratefully and placed them inside her storage pouch.

"These are tasks for new disciples, and one of them allows you to leave the Dragon Sect." She said, blinking her eyes at Yuki.

"Really!?" Yuki's eyes lit up. She didn't think that she would be allowed to leave the sect so soon.

Meng Li nodded her head as she picked up a scroll and handed it to her.

"It's a patrol mission. The Abyssal Plane has been acting up ever since your existence was exposed to the world. So as a new disciple, you have to patrol the Abyssal Plane every month."

"Oh." Yuki nodded in understanding as she read the scroll in her hand carefully. It contained details about the mission as well as the rewards. She also had four other team members.

"The mission doesn't start till next week, so I'll introduce you around the sect before you head out." Meng Li said, winking at Yuki.

Yuki nodded her head before following behind Meng Li as she exited the task center and entered the streets once more. They walked through the bustling crowds of people. Meng Li introduced many shops like spirit herbs, cores, ores, etc. She even introduced her to a special bathhouse that give messages...

As they walked through the city, Yuki noticed that the people around her were all cultivators and they were all wearing dragon silk robes which made them look incredibly handsome and beautiful. There were no weak looking ones amongst them. It was a place full of powerful and talented cultivators.

Just as Yuki was fascinating about her future life, Meng Li stopped in her tracks, making her bump into her.

"Sorry." Yuki apologized and blushed as she stepped back a little. She then looked at the massive circular dome building in front of them that was surrounded by a huge wall that stretched up high into the sky. On top of the dome there was an enormous dragon statue that stood proudly towering above everyone else, its head pointing straight up towards the heavens while its tail wrapped around the base of the structure.

"This is the Dragon Arena. You can wager Sect currency on two people fighting or you can fight for yourself and earn Sect currency. There are also other benefits, but you will know that later." Meng Li said, bringing her through the front doors and into the luxuriously decorated hall. There were many tables laid out with chairs around them where people sat down and talked quietly amongst themselves while downing heaps of alcohol.

When Meng Li walked past these people, she waved at them politely, causing them to raise their heads and acknowledge her presence before returning to their conversations.

Meng Li led Yuki past the tables and through a door at the far end of the hall and into a hallway. There were also doors leading off to different areas of the building as well as signs pointing in different directions showing where things were located.

They walked through the hallway for a few minutes until Meng Li stopped at a door labeled 'Sign up.'

"Senior you're not-" Yuki began, but Meng Li cut her off.

"Yes I am." Meng Li said proudly before pushing open the door and stepping inside, beckoning for Yuki to follow her.
