Yuki and Meng Li left the shop and headed back to the arena where they saw a massive crowd gathered outside.
"What's going on?" Yuki asked curiously as they walked closer to the entrance of the arena which was blocked by several guards who were keeping people out of it.
"A high ranking battle is happening." Meng Li said with a bit of curiosity in her eyes as she pushed through the crowd alongside Yuki and entered the arena.
"Come, I'll take you to a private booth." Meng Li said before grabbing Yuki's arm and dragging her into one of the doors located on either side of the arena. They went up a flight of stairs that led them into a private booth where they sat down in chairs facing towards the arena.
"Wow." Yuki muttered under her breath as she watched several disciples fighting each other in the arena. Some were using their spirit while others were using weapons.
"This is a high ranked battle, only those who are level 50 and above are allowed to participate. Those below will still participate in low ranked battles." Meng Li explained as she watched two disciples fighting intensely in the arena below them.
"So what about the huge crowd?" Yuki asked curiously.
"High ranking battles are highly popular among the disciples and are watched by everyone regardless of rank. Although the prize money is higher than lower ranked battles, it isn't by much. The real reason for the huge crowd is because they are excited to watch some fierce battles." Meng Li answered as she pointed towards two disciples who were currently locked in a heated battle.
One of them was using his spirit while the other was using a sword. The disciple with the spirit was shooting lightning bolts out of his dragon claws towards the disciple using a sword who dodged them easily before lunging forwards and slashing at the disciple with the spirit who jumped backwards narrowly avoiding the attack.
"Who do you think will win?" Meng Li asked as she watched the two disciples continue their fight intently.
Yuki didn't answer as she stared down at the two disciples who were fighting in front of her. The disciple with the spirit had dark purple hair that hung loosely over his shoulders, his eyes glowed red as sparks of lightning arced between his dragon claws which he used to attack the other disciple who dodged them effortlessly before charging forwards and striking at him with his sword.
"The one using his spirit obviously." Yuki replied confidently after observing their fight for a few moments.
"Why do you say that?" Meng Li asked.
"Well, he's using a spirit while the other isn't. Shouldn't he easily win?" Yuki said as she continued watching them battle below her.
"That may be true if this was a normal fight, but there's something you should remember." Meng Li said before pointing at the disciple using a sword and saying, "Look closely."
Yuki concentrated her attention on the disciple using a sword who was currently blocking an attack from the other disciple before counter attacking him with a powerful blow that sent him flying backwards.
"He has a strong defense and counterattack ability. His spirit itself should be a Mountain Dragon, but he doesn't need to summon it if he doesn't need to, he has good physical and defensive abilities." Yuki concluded as she observed their battle closely.
Meng Li nodded her head approvingly as she watched them fight below them. "Exactly. If you look closely enough you can see that the Mountain Dragon Spirit is slightly appearing around the sword, it's giving it extra power and strength, allowing him to withstand the other disciple's attacks and counterattack whenever he gets the chance. It also increases the durability of his sword so it doesn't break mid fight."
Yuki's eyes widened slightly as she looked at the sword the disciple was using closely. Now that Meng Li had pointed it out, she could indeed see the faint outline of the Kongli wrapping around the sword.
"It seems you noticed." Meng Li said amusedly before continuing, "It is a special technique that allows a user to channel their spirit through their weapon and increase its strength. Although it is a little bit draining and requires concentration, it is still quite effective. A lot of spirits have defects, so we make up for it with external equipment. Though, not everyone is happy with this. In the Dragon Sect, strength is respected, so using outside items might not be seen in a positive light."
Yuki nodded her head slowly as she watched the two disciples below her battling fiercely. One was using his spirit while the other wasn't. Despite the difference in their abilities, they were evenly matched.
Time went by and the man with the sword eventually won the game, and at this moment, the new fighters that caused a commotion out front came to play on stage.
"Senior, isn't that Zloto?" Yuki asked, looking at the man with sharp facial muscles and shoulder length black hair. Yuki had to admit that he was pretty handsome.
"Yes, it seems so." Meng Li said with a strange look on her face.
"What's he doing here fighting?" Yuki asked curiously, turning to face Meng Li who shook her head slowly.
"I have no idea." Meng Li said quietly as she watched the other person come onto stage.
"Never mind. I know why." Meng Li muttered as she watched the other person walk onto the stage.
"Why?" Yuki asked, her eyes looking at the strong girl with wavy crimson hair.
"That girl wants to date Zloto, so she uses fights as an excuse to be with him." Meng Li sighed, but a chuckle could be heard at the end of her sentence.
"Oh." Yuki said dumbly, not understanding the meaning.
"She is the granddaughter of the patriarch of the Fire Dragon Sect. Although she is talented and smart, she is quite a bit of a trouble maker and loves to fight." Meng Li said, shaking her head disapprovingly.
"What's her name?" Yuki asked curiously.
"Ardor Ryujin." Meng Li said as she watched the two opponents bow to each other before beginning their fight.
"Begin!" A voice boomed throughout the arena causing the two opponents to leap backwards and assume defensive stances.
