Chapter 12 - Shopping

"Very rare spirit." The old man said, nodding his head in approval as he jotted down some notes onto his paper.

"I believe I have a set of dragon silk armor that will fit your needs, but I need to take your measurements first." He said before taking a measuring tape from his pocket and walking around Yuki taking various measurements as he did so.

After about five minutes he had finished taking all of her measurements and returned to his place behind the counter where he began rummaging around in the drawers for something.

"Just a moment please." He said as he continued searching through the drawer, eventually pulling out a set of robes that were made out of dragon silk. He held them up proudly for Yuki to see as he smiled brightly at her.

"These dragon silk robes are enchanted with ice and fire attribute materials. So you can use your abilities to your fullest extent." He explained before placing them on the counter and glancing at Meng Li who was standing nearby with crossed arms and a blank expression on her face.

"How much is it?" She asked dryly.

The old man hesitated for a moment before answering, "Fifty Spirit coins."

Meng Li's eyes widened slightly as she stared at the old man in shock. One spirit coin is one hundred platinum coins. Coin rankings from lowest to highest goes like: Bronze, silver, gold, platinum, and spirit coins.

"That's too expensive." Meng Li said firmly, shaking her head vigorously. "We will not pay that amount."

Meng Li was a very kind person, but when it came to spending money she was very strict. If she had to pay more than 20 spirit coins then it meant she would have to spend the entire month on food and not cultivation resources.

The old man sighed heavily as he looked down at the dragon silk robes in his hands sadly before placing them back into his drawer and closing it shut with a soft click.

"Fine then." He said, sounding disappointed as he glanced at Yuki and took out a separate robe.

"Although this will also work, the durability is bad and will only last a couple dozens of fights in the arena. This one cost one spirit coin."

Yuki sighed as she looked down at the blue and red robe in front of her which was made out of normal dragon silk. It was much cheaper than the other set, but the effect was much worse.

"We will take it." She said dejectedly, nodding her head before taking the robe from the old man and handing it to Meng Li who placed it inside her storage bag.

"Thank you very much." The old man said before turning around and heading into a backroom behind the counter where he disappeared from view leaving Yuki and Meng Li alone in the store.

"What should we do now?" Yuki asked curiously as she turned to face Meng Li who was staring at her with an amused expression on her face.

Meng Li grinned wickedly before leaning forwards and whispering into Yuki's ear, "Well now that you have a fighting robe, we need to get you some equipment to match it."

"Equipment?" Yuki asked in confusion, not understanding what she meant.

Meng Li smiled mysteriously as she grabbed Yuki's hand and pulled her out of the shop without saying another word.

Yuki stumbled slightly as she followed behind Meng Li who led them towards another street filled with various shops selling different types of weapons and jewelry.

"Woah..." Yuki muttered in amazement as she looked around at all of the items displayed in front of her. Some were extremely fancy looking while others were simply plain and boring, but one thing was for sure, everything here seemed to have a very high quality about it.

"Here we are." Meng Li said happily as she stopped outside a small shop that had a sign above the door that read 'Lai Family'.

Yuki followed Meng Li into the shop and found herself surrounded by a large number of expensive looking items hanging on the walls and displayed on shelves. There were swords, spears, axes, bows, staff, daggers, rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, earrings, hats, belts, boots, shoes, gloves, clothes, armor and many other types of accessories. Everything looked very expensive and beautiful and Yuki could tell from their aura that they were made from high quality materials.

Meng Li led Yuki towards the back of the store where an elderly man was sitting behind a counter polishing a sword.

"Hello sir." Meng Li greeted politely as she approached him with Yuki by her side.

The old man looked up from his work and smiled kindly at them both. "Good afternoon ladies, how can I help you today?" He asked cheerfully, putting down the sword and wiping his hands off on a cloth before standing up and walking towards them.

"This young lady needs some equipment." Meng Li said, gesturing towards Yuki who blushed slightly at being referred to as a 'young lady.'

The old man nodded his head as he examined Yuki closely before speaking, "What type of equipment are you looking for? We have a wide variety available."

Meng Li placed her hand on Yuki's shoulder and smiled at the old man and said, "Any life saving jewelry."

The old man nodded his head as he rubbed his chin thoughtfully before turning to face Yuki and asking, "What are your spirit attributes?"

Yuki hesitated for a moment before answering, "Ice, fire, snow."

The old man's eyebrows rose slightly as he listened to her answer, but he didn't seem to be too surprised by it. "Interesting combination." He mused, stroking his beard as he thought to himself.

"Follow me please." He said before turning around and heading into a backroom which Yuki and Meng Li followed after him into.

When they entered the backroom, Yuki was amazed at all of the various items displayed throughout it. There were swords hanging on the walls, spears lying on tables, shields leaning against corners, bows propped up in corners, armor scattered everywhere and many other types of weapons and accessories.

The old man walked over to a shelf that contained a variety of different jewels and picked one up, examining it closely before handing it over to Yuki who took it gingerly.

"This jewel contains a protection spell that will activate if you are in danger. It can only be used once per day and it will break afterwards." The old man explained as Yuki inspected the jewel closely. It was a bright blue crystal that shone brightly in the sunlight shining through the windows of the room.

Yuki handed the jewel back to the old man who took it from her and placed it back onto the shelf where he took another jewel and handed it over to Yuki who inspected it closely as well. It was a red crystal that had a fire attribute to it.

"This jewel will increase your fire element by 5% for five minutes." The old man said as Yuki placed the jewel back onto the shelf and took another one from him which was a light blue crystal.

"This jewel will increase your ice element by 5% for five minutes, as for your snow element, I don't know as the snow element is extremely rare." The old man said as Yuki smiled sheepishly before returning the jewel back onto the shelf.

Yuki glanced around the room as she looked at all of the different items hanging from the walls and placed on the shelves, wondering which one would suit her best.

Finally she decided on the bright blue jewel that would save her life in danger.

"I'll take this one." She said as she pointed at the jewel.

"Wonderful choice." He said happily as he took the jewel from her and placed it back into a box before handing it over to Yuki. "This will cost you 50 platinum coins." He said, smiling at Yuki who blushed slightly.

"Here you go." Meng Li said, handing the old man a spirit coin who accepted it gratefully before placing it inside a small pouch that hung around his waist.

"Thank you very much." He said graciously, and started to work again with another customer.
