Chapter 1 - Abandoned Genius Resurfaces

The sun shining innocently through the hills and the birds chirping above the trees, a boy, hungry and desperate, as if he just went through a battle of life and death, walks towards the nearest city. Even though there are animals roaming, with nothing to kill them and without a way to start a fire, there's no hope in getting any food, while the plants and berries have all been logged as poisonous, no hope is present in the forest.

With the city in sight, Loki sprints towards the gate which has a lineup of farmers, officials and ordinary peasants. Upon reaching the line, the officials glare at Loki, the farmers have pity in their gaze and the peasants look away in fear a noble assumes their an accomplice.

One of the nobles coming near the gates saw Loki and said "What is a trash pile doing by these gates?" All the bystanders quickly spread out as if the plague had been near, as the Noble, known as Martin Leads, strode in front covering his nose. Martin glares "Who are you? Why are you disgracing this town with your filth?"

"Are you the lord of this city? What permits you from stopping my entry?" Replies Loki as he turns his emerald eyes gazing into Martin's soul, with Loki's head turned as his dirty blonde hair swayed with emotion.

Martin glares back with anger and a slight shiver. "No, but I know him quite well and will easily be able to get you kicked out just as fast as you entered." Though Nobles are powerful, the town Lord is always the number one power in terms of strength and ability.

Loki scoffs at his luck, 'Why does this have to happen to me? Why must I always be looked down upon?!', becoming more enraged by this situation, Loki gets prepared to defend himself, however a commotion arises at the front gates with even more people giving space as if another esteemed person is coming towards Loki.

"What is going on here?" a seemingly old man scowled, and yet the energy he emanated is as if he is a middle aged man, wearing an leather apron over his tight-fitting white shirt and pants that stay up like overalls, walked up to Loki while he still had a confused look on his face.

The Noble, though, started to grimace as this was a person he didn't want to get on the bad side of, Martin begins to say "What would an esteemed blacksmith who helps the whole city and many others be doing here?"

The blacksmith looks at Martin with a glint and then looks at Loki who still has no idea who this blacksmith is. "Hey, what are you doing out here? I told you to bring the materials I needed an hour ago" The blacksmith said yelling in a domineering tone.

Coming out of his stupor Loki responds timidly "Sorry sir, I went to find the materials but I was mugged and when I tried to return, this esteemed Noble stopped me and questioned me."

The Noble standing there puzzled, realized what he just said and tries to back track. "I had no idea he was your apprentice, I would never have stopped a pupil of yours even if I had the Lord's courage."

"Mmm, whatever. Let's go boy, we have work to do" gestured the blacksmith and Loki followed through the gates into the large bronze gates without being stopped. As they entered the city, Loki looks around with amazement as the solid brick buildings stand high with multi-colored shingles, blue, brown, gray and some orange based on their uses.

Residential buildings near the edges of the city in neat rows with dark alleys in between. A tavern for the wayward souls of adulthood reside as if they either have nowhere to go, or were there the night before, too inebriated to go home.

Walking past a building with orange shingles and large windows with a clean golden brown sign hanging over with a shield and 2 swords crossed over it. Loki stops and stares at the unique traffic roaming the building, exiting and entering.

The blacksmith notices and also looks where the boy is looking and explains "that, my boy, is the Adventurer's Guild. Where every danger resides the most, you can fight, explore, and protect from the quests they give and the most straightforward way to make coin in this world."

Loki's eyes shine with excitement and the blacksmith noticing it smiles gently. "You interested?"

The boy nods silently and begins to look at the blacksmith, asking expectantly. "Can you teach me how to fight?" Loki, not trying to look desperate for money either, decides that relearning how to fight will be the easiest way to ask about how to apply to the guild.

The blacksmith looks serious as if it isn't a good idea but responds "I can teach you a little, the rest will be on you, however, if you want to learn how to fight and become an adventurer, You must work for me too."
