Chapter 8 - Grinding Begins + Level Up!

With the experience from the boar, he was officially 10% of the way to level 2. only 9 more boars to defeat which, after fighting them, seems easy enough once you know the trick. Loki's plan now is to continue fighting boars to reach level 2 and equip his new boots to increase his agility even further.

'Well, now we just explore' Loki thought as he started walking deeper into the forest.

Loki encounters his second Level 1 boar 5 minutes later, and prepares to fight. thinking back to his first fight, he knows he can use his nimble body to dodge and run around it.

The same damage means he only needs to hit the boar 11 times to finish it off, and after a few minutes of slicing and dicing the bulky beast, he defeats his prey with ease. If Loki keeps up with this pace, he might be able to reach Level 2!

Moving ahead a few hours, Loki repeats the process of fighting boars until he needs to fight only one more to level up. At the last boar, he feels a little lucky not having to fight any bears or wolves at this point.

The next thing you know, Loki finishes off the last boar he needs to level up!

'YES! Finally, my journey begins here. Now, what should I do with my stats?' Loki asks himself.

Loki only uses his strength but he felt that if his movement speed was lacking against a simple boar, imagine a faster opponent, however Loki decides to make it rather easy and increase agility and HP and leave some for attack as he felt his attack is better at the moment. Loki makes a mental note to balance out his stats again with defense for Level 3.

After assigning his newly acquired stat points, he checks his stat panel as well as equipping his shiny new boots.

Loki feels his body's changes and admits that the feeling of increasing his own strength is addicting, he could get used to this. The feeling of his legs move easier after doubling his speed while also swinging his sword with much more power is incredible, he wonders how he'll feel as he grows more and more.

Loki feels like he could take on a bear and win with ease, and his prayers will be answered, for better or for worse. Unbeknownst to Loki, a bear has been roaming around and appears in front of him with a loud roar.

*ROAR

That's all Loki heard as he inspected the bear really fast before backing away and steadying his mind and sword.

[Forest Bear]

Level 3

Attack: 30

Defense: 12

Health Points (HP): 550/550

'Sh*t, what the hell is that attack? I can only take 7 hits from that thing, AND I have to hit him 22 times?! That's 3 times more than I can take' exclaimed Loki as he hoped with his new agility, he can dip, duck and dodge while also maintaining consistent attacks.

"Well, no point backing down now, my plans require facing scarier beings than a bear... LETS GO!" Roared Loki as he dashed towards the bear.

Dipping low towards the legs, while inexperienced, Loki decides to slice its feet in hopes of immobilizing it and making it easier to run around it.

Sliding low and slicing, the boar shrieks from not only the speed Loki can use, thankfully bears are inherently slow at attacking due to their robust size.

-25.5!

After getting a distance away, Loki is stunned to see the bear unfazed and still able to move around fine, although a small limp, as blood slowly oozes from the shallow cut.

'Tch, not deep enough, guess we'll have to try again' Loki grimaces internally as he rushes back to the bears' legs.

With the next attack being deep enough, he's able to bounce around the slow attacking beast and giving Loki practice with combos, doing 525 more damage was a breeze.

Exhausted, Loki decides to celebrate and find out what to do with his loot when he returns to town.

After another 15 minute walk back to the bronze gates, Loki's entry is surprisingly easy as he showed the apprentice badge again and no one tried to stop him.

Walking back through the scenic Ravenport, Loki returns to Ignatius only to see him working hard at the forge making what looks like a round shield.

Loki enters saying "Hey, master, I'm back!"

"Oh, Loki, how was the outside? Everything you wanted it to be?" responds Ignatius while they remain focused on their work.

"Yes! It was so much fun. I even leveled up! Speaking of, I also got lots of animal drops that I don't know what to do with. However, I'm so exhausted, I'll be heading to eat and then rest." Waved Loki.

"Wait boy, remember you can sell your loot to merchants or the adventurer's guild. Speaking of, you should go register with them tomorrow so you can take quests. Now go rest, good work." Ignatius reminds.

With that reminder, Loki sets off to Distinctly Lavish to eat more of the chicken and rice special. Afterwards, returning to the blacksmith to use the spare room Ignatius kept for his apprentice.

Dozing off with a smile as he took his first steps towards his vengeance, enemies beware, as an energy inside bounced up and down in excitement, feeling Loki's power grow albeit slightly...
