Loki's eyes widen in surprise and can only celebrate internally. 'This is great! I definitely feel more comfortable with the sword and only needing 40 experience to get level 3.' After 20 minutes of practicing his new feeling with the sword, Loki decides to head back to Ravenport.
Returning to Ravenport with his loot. Loki heads to the Adventurer's Guild to hand in his quests and get information on affinities. He had this feeling that the voice he's been hearing has something to do with his Nature affinity but he needed to learn more about it first.
Seeing Estrella standing behind her counter helping a few adventurers lined up, Loki walks in line to talk to her since she's the only one he knows. 'It seems busier here today, I wonder if there is an event happening?' ponders Loki as he pictures his fight with the wolf earlier and tries to figure out what he could've done better.
"Loki! Loki! Are you here to hand in a quest?" Estrella calls out, snapping Loki out of his thoughts. "Oh! Yes, I have finished the boar fur, bear hide as well as wolf fang, please take a look." Loki replies and hands over the items and quest pages he took.
"Hmm, yes, these look great! I can't believe you defeated a wolf. You're not even level 3 yet. quite the talented one, aren't you?" praised Estrella.
"Thank you, it was definitely exhausting. I could feel myself getting stronger because of the experience fighting a faster enemy. I do want to ask where I can learn more about affinities, specifically Nature?" asked Loki, hoping to get more information.
The manager looks up with her hand on her chin before saying, "The only person I know who can use Nature magic is the Guild Master. Getting an appointment with him is harder than meeting the Lord of Ravenport, it's the only way I could think of to learn more."
With a dejected look, Loki decides to just focus on increasing his strength any way he can and says, "Okay, I guess I'll just wait for the day to meet him if there are no other options. I can still focus on other things."
As Loki walks away, a man the size of a mountain is standing in the back of the building. listening in and hearing about someone with Nature affinity, they were intrigued. Naturally, the man who is amused just happens to be the Guild Master himself. He walks out to catch up to the boy who already left.
Loki continues to Ignatius's forge to ask him about affinities and how to learn. While walking up to a material store, there seemed to be a commotion. Uninterested, he continues towards the Blacksmith hoping to not get caught in whatever is happening.
Reaching the forge, Loki runs into Ignatius placing more weapons and armor in the front of the store on racks and armor stands. Hoping to ask about his affinity, Loki says, "Hey boss, how much do you know about affinities?"
"Affinities? You wanna learn magic now?" Ignatius questions while staring at Loki as if looking at a vacuum for knowledge. Ignatius feels a sort of Deja vu talking to Loki, 'This kid thirsts for knowledge, just like her..."
Loki responds with a slightly confused answer, "Yes? I mean, doesn't everyone want to learn magic?"
Ignatius is baffled by Loki's lack of knowledge of the world, "Ah, that's quite true. Although not everyone can learn magic or are born with affinities, most cases of having an affinity are from being inherited. What do you want to know about affinities?"
Loki looks down with his eyes closed thinking about where to start before asking, "Well, I want to know about what affinities are and how many there are?"
Ignatius moves to take a seat behind the counter of the shop and points to the second seat for Loki to sit before answering the first part, "Well, let's start with what affinities are. Affinities are what give chosen people the ability to control specific elements of the world or universe. While there are many descriptions, I would call it a stable connection to control the magical properties of elements. Now, there are a few affinities; namely, Nature, Fire, Water, Light, Darkness, Ice, Poison. They all have their possibilities, however, you could say that each affinity has a counterpart like Light and Darkness."
Loki, enraptured by learning something new and the thought of learning magic, asks "What about the Nature affinity? Is it strong against anything?"
"Good question, kid. Nature affinity is said to be the most powerful. It may not seem that way right away, but once someone gets in sync with Nature, everywhere they go, everywhere they see, their affinity will be with them. Nature specifically is quite ruinous against the Poison affinity." Ignatius says as if he remembers witnessing the power of Nature magic.
Eyes sparkling, Loki really wants to learn magic now, and fires questions at Ignatius "Can I learn magic? Can you teach me? If not you, is there somewhere I can learn?"
Ignatius puts his fingers on the bridge of his nose, looking exasperated at all the questions "Kid, you really don't know anything do you? There are many requirements to learning Magic, and I'm not qualified, my affinity is Fire anyways. Just get stronger. When you reach at least level 5, I have more blacksmithing to teach you, as you'll be strong enough to handle new metals."
Feeling a little letdown about not learning the new requirements, Loki decides to head back out to find more quests to do and makes a sprint to the Adventurer's Guild again. Running back by the material store, Loki notices an even bigger crowd. Hoping to get through it, Loki somehow ends up being pushed to the store front. Loki doesn't want to be a part of any of this.
However, a man in expensive robes started to leave the store while yelling, "You won't get away with this! I am a noble, a status you'll never understand in your poor peasant life. I am above the law, I am always going to be right."
"Sir, I can't give you my products or else I'll go out of business. Everyone needs to make money, especially a material store that sells ores and herbs for potions. I can give you a discount. Does that sound beneficial to you, sir?" pleaded the store owner in hopes of staying out of needless trouble.
The Noble feeling enraged begins to leave while yelling, "You think I need a discount? A noble? HAH, I don't need your stupid discount, nor do I want to buy at your stupid store." However, just as the noble is turning around, he bumps into someone. Feeling even more anger, the noble glares at the person who dares stand in his way.
