Chapter 17 - I'm Rich and Free Food!

Loki heads over to the market first to sell his rabbit fur, accepting any price as long as it gets out of his inventory. Finding a stall where they are buying rabbit fur for 5 gold a piece, the best price anyone can get, Loki gains 625 gold just from the normal rabbit fur.

Loki wants to sell the Rabbit King's fur too so he asks the man that bought his other ones, "How much would a Rabbit King's fur be?"

The man glances at the boy confused and answers, "Well, considering its rarity, only nobles have ever bought it, and it would probably come up to almost 100,000 gold no matter the quality."

'?????' Loki is absolutely stunned before stuttering, "W-w-would you buy it?"

"Well, sure, I mean, if someone were to sell it to me, I would spend that gold in a heartbeat, nobility pay top dollar for a rug made from it." Responded the man.

"Well, I happen to have one, I will sell it to you." Loki said thinking about the sheer riches he'll gain.

"Bah, no way you have a Rabbit King's fur, good joke kid." waved off the merchant.

Loki motions for him to come closer and gives the merchant a peek at the fur and all that can be heard is a light scream as if someone is being killed, "AHHHHH, HOW DO YOU HAVE THIS??" exclaimed the merchant.

"Can I sell it to you?" asked Loki as if losing hope of selling it.

"YES, ahem, of course you can sell it to me, no, please sell it to me, I'll even give you a premium, 125,000 gold, how does that sound???" pleaded the merchant to sell the rare monster fur to him.

"O-okay, I will sell it to you." Proceeding to receive the gold, Loki hears a notification.

{Notification!}

+125,000 Gold

"There we go, thank you for your patronage, kid." Said the merchant with slight tears in his eyes from seeing such a rare item.

Loki heads towards Distinctly Lavish while extremely excited about his new influx of cash. Begins to think about what to do with the rabbit meat; not needing cash from it, Loki has a new idea.

Reaching the restaurant, Loki sees Elsie working hard and greeting customers and walks up to her, "Hi Elsie! Do you usually buy rabbit meat often?"

"Loki, what a pleasant surprise. Yes, we do buy rabbit meat quite often. We are actually getting short on it right now, why?" Elsie responded.

"I have quite a few rabbit meat here and I'm looking to sell it, and where is better than my favorite restaurant?" Answered Loki as he started to take out a piece of rabbit meat.

Elsie looks at Loki thinking that he may only have a few and entertains him by saying, "Oh yeah? Our restaurant would love to buy them off of you at 15 gold a piece. A 5 gold premium just for you."

"Really?? Awesome! Where can I place them all?" asked Loki in excitement.

"Come to the back, I'll get a table set up for you." Elsie said while walking to the back.

Heading to the storage in the back, Elsie motioned to a table that was empty and Loki proceeded to dump all of the rabbit meat he gained onto it. Elsie ends up with her jaw on the ground out of surprise and gulps at buying them for a premium from this kid.

"Um, Loki, Can we renegotiate the price a little? You have way more than I expected." Elsie said, hoping to not empty her pockets.

"Hmm? Oh yes, I would actually like to ask for something and I can just give you all of the meat instead of selling it." responded Loki.

"What do you want instead? As long as it's less than 800 gold, sure thing!" Elsie said.

Loki thinks a little on how to ask and decides to just ask while bowing politely, "I would like to ask that you make rabbit stew for me and my teacher!"

"Sure, that's easy enough! For this much rabbit meat, I'll make you rabbit stew free for 2 weeks straight." answered the owner.

"Thank you! Would you be okay to make it now? I'll go get him." Loki said, running out before Elsie can even give an answer and thinks to herself, 'Well, guess I'll just have to get it done.'

Loki reaches the smithy in record time due to his increased speed, and thankfully he saw Ignatius sitting at the forge still working hard. A plate of bread and soup just outside of the room is the determining factor to get Ignatius a day off and have some real food.

"Boss! Can we go eat some rabbit stew together? I got them making it right now so if we leave now we can eat it while it's fresh!" said Loki wanting to drag the immovable boulder that is Ignatius.

"What are you coming in here talking so fast for, boy? I guess it wouldn't hurt to take a break and revisit an old friend and have some stew." Ignatius said before complying and heading towards the front of the shop. He switches the sign on the front from 'OPEN' to 'CLOSED' which he hasn't done during the day in a very long time it seems.

"Alright, let's get going! This will be perfect for both of us." exclaimed Loki in excitement as he darts out of the front door with Ignatius in tow.

Heading through the town, Loki notices that some of the citizens are staring at him. However, he realizes they aren't staring at him, but his teacher, and asks about it, "Are you a celebrity? You garner a lot of attention."

Ignatius scratches the back of his head and looks away saying, "Why do you think I never leave the forge? I hate the attention and just want to focus on doing good for adventurers and warriors alike. Anyways, we are already here, let's head inside before anything else happens."
