Chapter 19 - Goddess of Power + Trial

In the morning, Loki wakes up with a clear mind and ready to continue climbing the power ladder. His next step is the Cathedral for his promotion trial. However, Loki has no idea where he is going and decides to ask Ignatius.

"You want to know where the Cathedral of Promotion is? If you head further North through the city, you'll come to 2 large buildings near the Nobel district. One of them is the Lord's Manor and the other is the Cathedral, quite obvious buildings and hard to miss." answered Ignatius.

Loki understands the general way to find where to promote to tier 1, nods and heads out. After 30 minutes of traveling through streets he has never been on, Loki finally reaches the Cathedral and subsequently, the Lord's Manor.

'I'm not quite sure which one is more noticeable...' Loki thought to himself while studying the two buildings that are vastly unique to the rest of the city. The Cathedral: a white building with quartz pillars with a staircase leading to the large double doors that has a tree in the middle and only come together when closed.

The Lord's Manor is also impressive with 4 stories, the roof a deep red proving it's unique design with the doors straight out of a sci-fi movie, looking as if they would steam upon opening them. The guards in front of the crescent golden gates exude an aura more prominent than the guards around the city. The eyes in the guards show true focus on their job and any form of danger would lead to an immediate reaction from them.

Shaking his head, Loki walks by the manor and heads towards his goal, the Cathedral of Promotion. Walking up the staircase, he moves towards the doors and enters quite easily and holds his hand over his eyes as a blinding light shines on him.

After Loki's eyes adjust to the building's interior, he notices it's a lot bigger inside than it looks. With multiple citizens enjoying the feeling of tranquility that seems to come mostly from the statue at the end of the building standing proudly before rows and rows of benches. Loki walks towards the statue and notices that there are 4 large gates behind the statue as if surrounding it, unsure of their purpose, he continues to stare at the statue with intrigue and familiarity?

(Authors Notes: Almost looks like a very heavenly church but with a 4 gates surrounding the statue)

A priest, noticing Loki by the statue, walks up to him and asks, "Are you interested in the Goddess of Power, Bia?

Loki, startled by the undetected presence of a priest, he turns and acknowledges the question and responds, "Yes, I feel this enchantment towards this statue as if I can feel its power calling for me? I don't know how to describe it."

"Ohhh! So, you are here for your promotion trial, are you?" said the priest in understanding of his feelings.

"How did you know?" asked Loki in shock that a priest could already know.

The priest chuckles and looks over at the statue of Bia and answers, "Only those the statue calls for are ready for their promotion, and it looks like you are going for tier 1. I can start your trial, however, there will be no help from any external forces and the trials will only be about you on a personal level."

"I am more than ready to take on the trial, I need to keep moving forward or else my life will forever never make sense." Loki said with a determined gaze and a strong mentality.

The priest looked at Loki in surprise as if something changes in the environment when he listened to Loki. However, he recovered and motioned towards the first gate on the left as it's the gate for all Tier 1 promotion trials.

(Authors Notes: The gates from left and right are for tier 1-4 promotion trials, if that wasn't clear.)

Walking in front of the blue electrifying gate, Loki feels a small amount of trepidation, hoping to have a good performance. In his thoughts, the priest starts explaining the trials in more detail, "Now, while the trials are personal and there isn't anything you can know about the trial itself, I can tell you that each trial will have a performance score on how well you faced the trials at the end. The score will be from D to S and it will be a deciding factor on your new class as the next form of human."

The priest continues as the gate is ready, "Now, whenever you are ready, walk through that gate and allow your fate to be decided based on your own tenacity, young one."

As Loki walks through the gate, the priest opens his eyes wider as he notices the environment shift again as if there's more activity due to this unknown boy entering his promotion trial.

On the other side, as Loki enters the trial, he feels a wave of confusion as he lands in an open plain that he can clearly recognize as the one he defeated countless rabbits and the Rabbit King. Looking around, he notices there are no rabbits, however, a notification appears.

Question marks rise above Loki's head while screaming in his mind, 'I DON'T KNOW ANY MAGIC!'

Fear was sent down Loki's spine as the same large rabbit Loki defeated with great difficulty, spawned on the other side of the plains, and with great anger started to sprint towards him. Once again, a scene of Loki running away from the rabbit king reappears however with no sword this time.

'What do I do? I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to magic' thought Loki fearfully as he kept running through the plains, kicking up dirt as he ran as fast as he could.

After 5 minutes of running, although burning stamina, Loki calms down and begins to think about his own affinity and what it means, 'Okay, what I do know is my nature affinity involves? Well, Nature. How do I use nature to my advantage?

Just then, an epiphany happened. Loki could feel the ground more clearly and embraced the feeling as much as possible. Loki starts running faster, he gains distance from the rabbit and tries to keep hold of the feeling of Nature.

In his mind as if a line of words appeared and Loki reads them out loud "I am nature and nature is me, nature is the world and nature is protective."

Immediately after uttering those words, a wall of dirt and stone lifts from the ground and creates a barrier between him and the Rabbit king. With surprise, Loki shows excitement over the feeling of being able to use magic, thinking to himself, 'This is it, this is the beginning of my adventure.'
