Chapter 9 - Eccentric Adventurer's Guild

Loki groggily wakes up to the morning sun shining through the window evilly. Loki couldn't help but feel sore when sitting up and complains to himself 'ugh, did I work myself too hard yesterday?

After getting dressed, Loki washed his face from a hose in the back.

(A/N - Unless you are nobility, there will be no luxurious way to clean up.)

Planning the day while eating some bread for breakfast, Loki sets out for the Adventurer's guild to get his first quest. Loki knew where the guild was thanks to Ignatius introducing it when they first walked by it. Recognizing the golden sign with swords crossed over a shield, Loki reached the guild after a 10 minute walk.

Loki proceeds to enter excitedly, hoping to get his adventure started on his path to become stronger. Upon entering, he notices immediately the unique presence everyone in the building has, almost as if everyone is exuding their aura to show off their strength.

Only a few groups catch Loki's attention, the most noticeable one is a group of three, 2 women standing on both sides of a man. The man in the group has a large sword on his back and armor that looks like it's lined with gold, being worth more money than Loki has ever seen. The women both wear robes, although different in color, giving them different presences.

The woman standing to the left is wearing a purple/red robe while holding a tall staff. Her staff has a red jewel on top that is being held by wood that looks like it hugs the jewel tightly. She has bright blue hair which seems to contrast her whole set up.

The woman on the right seems to be much brighter compared to the other woman, her robes a pristine white with golden threads running through the sleeves and collar. She has red hair, as if completely opposite of the other woman. She is also holding a staff, but with a delicate look and a crown like tip with 4 white pearls on the top.

Loki stares at them in awe of their equipment and the aura they give off; makes them seem really high ranked. Although Loki is sure that the man is a warrior and the women are affiliated with magic, he can't tell because he's never been in an environment with magic users. Not even the village he grew up in had people that could use magic properly.

Continuing further into the guild, Loki notices there are 4 stalls with women standing behind each one. Reaching the middle of the room, a woman in one of the stalls notice Loki, and calls out "Young man! Do you need any help? You seem lost, come over."

Loki walks towards the stall furthest to the left, where the woman who called out was. Many questions float around Loki's mind, unsure where to start with questions, feeling overwhelmed.

The lady at the counter notices Loki's confusion, smiling lightly decides to speak "Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild, young man, are you hear to apply to become an adventurer?"

"Yes, I want to become an adventurer and explore the world" Loki responds in excitement.

Gently nodding her head to the young mans enthusiasm, continues her questions "Okay, let's get you an application and we'll get you into the system for your ID; here, take this and fill out your name, age, level, stats, skills and affinities if you have any."

Excitedly, Loki begins writing down his information, wondering if his level is too low to become an adventurer. He asks the Lady "Is it okay if I'm only level 2? I am unsure if there is a level requirement."

The Lady looks down towards Loki with a slight smile, as she is about a foot taller than him, responding "No, of course not, there are plenty of quests available for lower leveled adventurers"

Relief written all over Loki's face he excitedly finishes his application and gives it to the Lady at the counter. She begins to look over his stats.

After Loki finishes filling out his application. Loki didn't add the question marks in the skill section or the Unknown affinity because he didn't have any answers for it and feared they would cause problems with his application.

Satisfied with Loki's answers, the lady nods "Looks good! Wait here and I'll have your ID ready and you'll be able to take quests right after. While you wait, you can head over to the commission board to your left where everyone else is standing to check them out."

With many more questions, with many more questions rushing through Loki's mind, heads over to the board to see the available quests. 'Goblins, Orcs, Dire wolves, 5x healing herbs; There is really a variety of quests, especially hunting quests.. hey this..

Loki looks over at a commission with a skull to the side, not knowing the meaning, reads the mission itself; 'subjugation of bandits ruining merchant routes.

'Woah, bandits huh? I've never fought real people before, hopefully I don't have to deal with them anytime soon' Loki expresses his thoughts.

"Um, Loki, what are you looking at? I would suggest you take easier quests than bandits and Dire Wolves, those are primarily for Adventurers B-rank or above" the Lady said as she walked up to Loki looking at the wrong quests.

Loki turns around and tilts his head as a new question forms "B-rank?"

The lady looks confused and instead of answer asks a different question. "You don't know much about the workings of the Guild huh?" Loki only nods his head, unable to speak from feeling shame from his lack of knowledge.

The lady sighs at the young boy and begins her explanation "Well, let me introduce myself and the guild to you, young man. I am Estrella Triale, manager of this branch. Nice to meet you Loki."

Estrella motions for Loki to take a seat on the other side of the guild cause as this will be a long explanation. "First, there are ranks in the guild to establish your merit and strength and how trustworthy you are at taking more urgent quests; Lowest Rank is E, with the highest obtainable being SS."

"How hard is it to rank up?" Loki asks while understanding the ranking system

The manager answers vaguely. "Not hard, it just takes time as there are points required for each.

However, each quest taken varies in points in relation to difficulty; the average points for E rank quests are 3-7 and you only need 50 for D-rank, but it increases almost exponentially after that"

(Author Notes - Here is the point system for ranks, not like it'll be useful, he ranks up when I say so..)

E - 0 - 50 pts

D - 51 - 250 pts

C - 251 - 500 pts

B - 501 - 1000 pts

A - 1001 - 2500 pts

S - 2501 - 10,000 pts

SS - 10,000 pts

Estrella continues. "There is a guild branch in every town and major city, so you'll never have to worry about returning here to get new quests if you go far away. Oh! Before I forget, you can't rank up just from points, you need to take a combat test once you reach the threshold. Until you pass the test, you won't gain anymore points."

"Thank you Miss, that was very helpful. I'm excited to get started!" responds Loki as if he only wanted quests and to go out than listen.

"Go on young man, time for you to go get your quest. Keep in mind, it can only be D rank or below." Estrella said as she waved off Loki to go find his first quest.
