Chapter 28 - The Lord of Ravenport

The Lord, Maverick, pretends to look shocked and says, "What? I can't visit one of my citizens, Ignatius?"

Ignatius looks off put and decides to ask, "What are you here for? Surely you didn't come here just for the commission? You're too lazy, so something serious must be happening."

"You're right. Scouts of the city have noticed strange movements of the monsters in the forest nearby, we've been warned that it may become a beast tide, hence I want to enlist your help to support adventurers and soldiers alike with weaponry." The Lord replied solemnly.

"A possible monster wave then?" asked Ignatius.

"I have no idea, apparently the Lord of the Forest has become unstable, and there has been no clues to the reason why and I would much prefer not going against the Lord of the forest anytime soon." Maverick looked exhausted just from the words before turning around to leave but stopped and looked over at Loki.

"Is something wrong Maverick?" questioned Ignatius.

"Hmm? No, it just seems like your apprentice here has some skill, I will say that enlistment for defense will be posted soon, so if you're looking for something to fight soon, come help your city." Maverick said with a slight smile before returning to his Manor.

Loki heard what the Lord said and a little excitement was shown on his face. Ignatius notices this change and sighs before adding, "I know you want to join, but you should first settle your other matters, like you class."

Loki becomes stunned and facepalms as he entirely forgot about his own class and never did anything to learn more.

"Right! I will plan to go around and learn what I can about my class and how to use it." said Loki as his desire to participate in this beast tide increases.

Loki decided to call it a day and went to his room and looked over his character panel and contemplating his Class 'Warrior Mage'.

The next morning; Loki ran off towards Distinctly Lavish and went for breakfast. Ordering some bacon and eggs with some soft and fluffy pancakes, Elsie comes by and notices Loki looking a little lost.

"You seem troubled, Loki. Is something the matter?" Asked Elsie.

Loki looks up at the Owner and answers with a nod, "I want to learn more about my class now that I passed my tier promotion, however, I have no idea what 'Warrior Mage' is and how to learn more."

"Eh? A warrior mage? I haven't heard of that class before. Maybe someone at the Mage Tower would know more than I would." replied Elsie.

'The mage tower? I feel like it would be the best place to start' Loki thought and decided to head to check it out after eating and thanking Elsie for the information.

Walking out and making his way through the city, Loki notices more soldiers roaming as if in preparations for the upcoming beast wave.

Understanding the impending difficulties the city is about to face, Loki begins to reminisce on his time here in Ravenport, meeting Ignatius, learning blacksmithing. Becoming an adventurer to the magical capabilities he has now wouldn't have been a thing if he didn't come to this city.

Loki picks up the pace to get to the mage tower quicker to learn more about his class as soon as possible. After a few minutes, Loki reached the tallest building in the city, a tall tower with a roof mixed with blue and purple, however it was clearly magical because it had orbs of magic floating around it as if it illuminate itself at night.

Loki walks up to the door in excitement of such a building filled with magical properties and new types of magic to learn.

*Knock Knock*

The door suddenly swings open after Loki knocked twice as someone walked out of the tower towards Loki. What looks like a middle aged man in a light blue robe with gold edges on the sleeves, the man is wearing glasses that look like they need to be constantly pushed up.

"Hey bud, what did you need from the magnificent mage tower?" The man said while pushing his glasses up with two fingers, one on each end of his glasses.

"Um, I would like to learn more about magic and my class. I was told that this is the best place to learn about it." responded Loki with honesty.

The man agreed to let Loki in and motioned to follow while asking, "Hmm. We have a lot of books that might help, if I may ask, What is your class?"

"My class is called warrior mage and I've never heard of it. I was told this place is the best chance I've got in finding out more about it." answered Loki.

The mage stops dead in his tracks as if a little shaken by Loki's words before asking, "What did you say? Warrior Mage? Interesting, so? What do you want to know?"

Loki questions, "Well, I would like to learn how to progress in my class, it hasn't been very helpful nor have I found any information on it, could you have any ideas?"

The mage holds his chin and ponders before looking at Loki with a serious face and answers, "Strength and Mana."

"Uh, very helpful. Is there anything I can read here that has more information on my class?" Asked Loki.

"Considering your class... Come, there is something you should read." The mage quickly pulls Loki into the stairwell that leads up towards the highest point of the building.

Reaching the top, there are books everywhere, as if no one has cleaned up in years, however Loki isn't concerned with that. He is more concerned with even more books flying as the mage that led him here is frantically looking through all of his books.

A few moments later, "AHA! I found it, come here, this is why you're so interesting. This book is about the hero 'Gracidious the Magic Warrior' as well as this book over here called 'traits of warrior mages' these two books are some of the oldest books we have and only 2 people have ever read these books with purpose in the past ten thousand years."

The mage has an incredibly excited expression on his face as he continues his rant, "If you truly are a warrior mage, you are a one in a million existence, and I will do my best to help you learn as much as I can. By the way, my name is Lance, The General of the Mage Tower."

"My name is Loki and I'm just a blacksmith apprentice and newbie adventurer, it is my mission to learn as much as I can about magic and my nature affinity." Loki introduced himself only to make Lance open his eyes wide once again.

Lance grabs Loki's shoulders and shouts, "WHAT AFFINITY?"
