It was raining heavily as the dark clouds hid away the moonlight. Light thunderstorms filled the air which gave many of the normal passersby a fright. Anyone who was foolish enough to look to the sky, however, would be able to see a man brandishing wearing a dark blue trenchcoat and umbrella, skipping in the air traversing the weather with ease. In his other hand though, he held the collar of a white-haired boy who screamed,
"WHERE ARE YOU TAKING ME?? DIDN'T I REFUSE??"
Weatherman ignored his cries as he continued to drag Shiro through the harsh rainfall.
Eventually, the two touched down on an abandoned small office building where the rainfall was much lighter. Weatherman then said,
"Since you refused, I won't force you to come to join the
Suddenly a sharp pain pierced Shiro's head. As he gripped it he said, "It's to do with the second murderer, isn't it? If he was able to get away with so many murders for so long then that means that he must have had some kind of power too. Since you came here for the Ikumi then you must have come here for that man too."
Weatherman smirked while complimenting him, "You have some sharp intuition kid. If we are gonna find out who the murderer is, then I can't have you being as weak as you are right now. I brought you to this place to help you get stronger.
The pain in Shiro's head only continued to grow, as he fell to the floor. He tried to call to Weatherman for help, but it felt as if his own voice was being drowned out.
"Do you hear them, Shiro?" Weatherman asked him. "Do you hear their cries?"
Shiro struggled to shout, "What are you talking about you crazy man?"
This feeling that he was having was similar to when he was attacked by Ikumi, but at the same time, it was completely different. Weatherman then began to explain,
"Humans who can see the supernatural aren't that spiritually connected to this world. However, psychics with traits far beyond them are more sensitive. When the souls of humans move on to the afterlife, any regrets or grudges they have get left behind. Eventually, those grudges gather and give birth to spirits. Due to our sensitivity, we can sense the residual energy that those spirits leave behind. Today I'm going to train you on how to control your psychic power properly by making you interact with those spirits. All you have to do is make it from the top of this building and escape down to the exit. Once you do you should be able to use your own psychic power to some degree."
Understanding this Shiro quickly arose, and walked towards the building's rooftop entrance. From its height, he could tell that the whole building consisted of 3 floors. It would be easier for him to just jump off the roof and regenerate, but if he did then it would defeat the purpose of the training.
He grabbed onto the door handle before quickly forcing it open. When he did it revealed a set of stairs that led into the infinite darkness that was the office building. He felt some fear but, if he didn't get stronger then he wouldn't be able to protect Eiko. In the midst of his thoughts, Weatherman kicked him down the stairs before slamming the door shut.
Shiro shouted in anger, "
As walked down the stairs blind in the darkness, he reached out his hands to try to find a wall to guide him. This building was far too dark for an ordinary human to see which made Shiro as blind as a bat.
Despite being inside a sealed building he felt a cold air current which trickled down his back. It wasn't just that but he could also hear very faint but present whispers that said his name.
Shiro being disturbed by this picked up his pace and started speed walking through the building, before tripping on what seemed to be a hard object, making him fall to the floor. When he checked to see what he fell on though, he could feel nothing there, except the cold floor.
After what seemed like hours passed by he shouted, "IM STILL ON THE FIRST FLOOR GODDAMMIT, HE COULD HAVE AT LEAST GIVEN ME A MAP OR SOMETHING."
As he shouted in desperation, he heard a loud crash in the distance, making him flinch. As he quickly increased his guard he felt something long but heavy hit his two back feet making him fall to the floor once again. Then immediately after slams into his left side, sending him flying into a nearby wall.
Shiro felt his left arm break as he fell back to the ground but the pain quickly disappeared as his auto regeneration took effect. Still not being able to see his surroundings or the attacker, he blindly charged head-first into the darkness.
He ran up something slippery causing him to fall, but as he tried to stand back up it wrapped around his leg and quickly pulled him further in. As he went in he tried to grab something hard to try to save himself. As he did he felt a powerful force crush both his hands, instantly chopping them off.
Shiro had fallen into the mouth of a chameleon-shaped Spirit. As it chewed Shiro up, another green chameleon appeared from the darkness saying, "Hey! you ate it all! I helped to catch it too, you're so selfish!"
"I found it first, if you're so hungry then why don't you go eat that guy on the roof," it responded as it continued to chew.
The opposing chameleon responded by shouting, "IF HE WAS AN EASY TARGET DON'T YOU THINK I WOULD HAVE TRIED THAT?? OR ARE YOU FORGETTING THAT THE REASON WE ARE COUPED UP IN HERE IS BECAUSE THAT GUY WILL KILL US BOTH IN A FLASH IF WE LEAVE?"
It tried to argue back but suddenly the chameleon chewing Shiros' body started choking, however, the opposition continued, "That prey that you ate had low psychic power in comparison to him, but still a lot more than the city people. If we shared him then perhaps we could have fought that umbrella person together.."
The Chameleon then vomited as it coughed up a large pile of yellow sludge from its mouth. The two Spirits backed away as one of them shouted, "THAT THINGS PSYCHIC ENERGY TASTS LIKE EXPIRED FLESH."
The other chameleon opened its eyes in surprise as it looked at the thick pile of vomit. Then rising from the sludge was Shiro who appeared to be completely unharmed.
As he wiped his face he said calmly, "I see. I completely understand, so this is psychic energy. Everything in this room, I can sense it. Even the spirit that was playing games with me before. So there were actually two of them huh?"
The chameleon opened its mouth in shock as it said, "That was a psychic this whole time?? We have to kill it quickly big bro!"
Shiro couldn't understand what the two were saying, but he did know that they were being aggressive towards him.
The chameleon quickly coiled its tail before firing it at him, which Shiro barely dodged. He tried to run away but the other chameleon quickly manoeuvred in front of him blocking his path. The chameleon tried to tackle Shiro, however, with great agility, Shiro jumped over it while punching its glabella. The attack did zero damage, and so it pushed Shiro aside, through one of the walls.
Shiro was able to recover from the damage immediately. As he got up while dusting himself he thought, "I can use psychic power now, but I still can't fight back."
Looking around he then decided, "I gotta get out of here!"
Both of the chameleons charged at him but it was too late for them. Shiro jumped out of a window from the third floor and fell to the earth successfully escaping.
As he landed on the ground, he felt both his legs break and then heal quickly.
At the top of his voice, he shouted, "WEATHERMAN-SENSEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII SAVE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE."
The Spirits hearing his name quickly retreated into the darkness, praying that he wouldn't come. However, they were greatly mistaken. The Weatherman jumped from the roof of the building and then like a feather gently fell down towards the earth.
He asked Shiro, "Did you cheat?"
Shiro responded while panicking, "I completed the main goal of this didn't I? What I just did was completely justified!"
Weatherman pouted before saying, "I guess this level is alright then. I can feel that you have gotten somewhat stronger. It's not a lot but this level of psychic power will do."
He then covered his nose while saying, "Why are your clothes sticky? And you stink too."
Shiro ignoring his question asked, "What about those two spirits inside?? They are really dangerous!"
Weatherman then pointed his umbrella at the building. Then suddenly a bolt of thunder fell from the heavens down towards him. Before it hit him though, it rapidly changed directions, now flying into the building. As it did, Shiro could sense the presence of the two spirits disappear permanently.
