Chapter 3 - New Roommates

Love from a Distance: A Tale of Unexpected Connections"

Chapter 3

Ryan's POV

After submitting it to him, I went back to the hostel and entered the room. Seeing no one there, I was happy and relieved, then went to shower and changed into new clothes. Taking a novel, I laid down on the upper bunk bed and put an earpod in my ear. I played music on my phone and opened the novel to read. I was enjoying the peace and the warmth the room was giving me, but soon everything changed when my roommates came in.

"Guys, stop. You have been on this since," Raymond said.

"Okay, my mouth is closed, but it's just too funny, I can't," Tom said, laughing loudly.

"Don't go back on your words," Raymond said as he went to his corner, placing the things he bought.

"Look who's here, Soo ho the loner," Jackson said as he sat on the couch.

"I don't know when he would start talking to us," Tom said.

"For you two, I wonder because you're a nuisance to him," Raymond said, removing his jacket and shoes.

"Wait, you're telling us he talks to someone like you?" Jack asked.

"Yes, because he did," Raymond said as he took his shoe and jacket to his corner and arranged them neatly.

"He would have to adapt to us since we would be staying here for a long time," Tom said, opening the can drink he was holding and gulping down everything.

I was done reading the novel and paused the music on my phone only to hear a loud one playing and a voice singing along. I sat up and turned to look at Tom who was shouting at the top of his voice and dancing crazily. I sighed and came down from my bunk. The little time I spent with them I found out three things about them.

Raymond was calm, collected, and responsible.

Tom was loud, talkative, and funny.

Jackson was nice, annoying, and an observer.

I dropped the novel, took my card, and left the room.

Jackson's POV

"The cold guy has left," I said looking at the door.

"Loner now cold, Jackson. Let him breathe," Raymond said.

I won't. Didn't you see the stunt he pulled today? I felt sorry for that girl, I said.

"I saw that too, but the girl should have said nothing when he didn't reply, and I know she felt bad since she only meant to compliment him and got a hurtful response," he said.

"This guy just confuses me, apart from knowing he's very handsome. Guys like him love it when girls drool over them, but he's the opposite. He's chasing them away from him. What handsome guy does that?" Tom said, scratching his head.

"Maybe he's gay or he hates girls drooling over him since he's a loner," I said.

"Don't jump into conclusions, Jack. We are all yet to know each other so he might not be all you think he is," Raymond said.

"I will still hold my thoughts on it till then. Raymond, be careful around him before he comes one night and kisses you," I said, laughing, and Tom burst into laughter.

"I don't need your silly advice, just have some sense for once," Raymond said, taking his bag and leaving the room.

Raymond's POV

I sighed as I came out of the room. When would he know that everyone is not the same as him who starts talking to anyone they meet, Jack thinks. Driving thoughts away, I went to the ground floor and met Soo ho (I prefer calling him this name) coming and holding a nylon.

"Hey, buddy, how are you?" I asked, smiling.

"Good. You're going somewhere," he asked.

"Yes, and I'll be back late," I said, and he nodded before we both parted ways.

Ryan's POV

I went to the room and as I stepped in, I got stares from Jack and Tom.

"The loner is back," I heard Jack muttered.

Ignoring what he said, I went to my study table to drop the food I bought before heading to the bathroom. I came out and went to get my laptop since I needed to get some work done before eating. It was past 8:00 p.m. when I started eating my first meal, chicken wings, french fries, and coke before going to bed. The next morning, I got up and started my morning routines. After that, I got dressed up. I wore a black hoodie and baggy black trousers with a nose mask and took my bag before leaving the room.
