Dylan's POV
"Draco, stop!" I ordered
I heard him mumble something after staying still for a few seconds. I noticed he stood for some time before she turned to me. I counted the seconds and noticed he stood longer today.
I suspected that Draco was bluffing and my powers were working on him.
"I told you those little commands of yours don't work on me." he said as he walked towards me.
"Liar. How much longer will she lie about this?" I said to myself. "Is she scared that I would control her all the time?"
"But it worked the first time, I ordered you to stop and I saw you struggle to move." I said with a mischievous grin.
"You are seeing things, besides you were in a coma not too long ago. It is perfectly normal to imagine things." he explained.
I wanted to continue the conversation when he blasted me with fire.
"Really? Way to avoid this conversation" I said as I dodged the blast. But he couldn't hear me over the explosion.
I didn't know I was hurt until I felt a sting on my leg.
"Ouch! You cheated! I was not ready!" I cried out as I held my injured leg.
"The enemy doesn't wait until you are ready." he said as he sent bolts of fire at me.
This time, I was ready and I dodged successfully. I saw his impressed look, and I swelled with pride.
Today's training was about dodging the enemy attack and healing yourself immediately you are hit.He started training me to be prepared for anything. I hated the training but I had no choice but to obey. I believed he was paranoid because he came back from work one day and started this ridiculous training.
"I have to heal myself. Hold on!" I screamed as I continued to dodge his blast.
"You have to heal yourself while I blast you," he shouted back.
I rolled my eyes and sighed, I was beginning to get tired of dodging and most of Draco's fireballs and fire bolts were hitting me.
I wanted to prove to Draco that I can defend myself, but I was getting injured more and more. I started seeing stars and my leg wobbled, I miscalculated a jump and collapsed facedown to the ground.
I was losing consciousness when I heard his footsteps sound loud as he got closer. My eyes felt heavy and I closed them, soon I could hear her casting a healing spell.
After some time, I started feeling energy flow into my body and soon I was able to open my eyes.
"If I was the enemy, you would have been dead now." he said as je gently pulled me up.
"At this rate, you will kill me before the enemies do." I said to myself.
"Today's lesson is over, we will continue tomorrow. I expect you to practice well and because I am not going to take it easy on you." he said as we walked into the house.
"Whatever, I am going to bed." I said as I rolled my eyes.
I went to my room and fell on my bed. I was exhausted from today's training and soon I was fast asleep.
I looked around and noticed I was in my old room. I saw the freshly picked rose flowers on my nightstand, my toys scattered on the floor, I went to my old bed and touched it, it was soft like I remembered. I sat on it and smiled, soon I heard footsteps outside the room, I recognised the sound of that footstep. I held my breath, hoping that it was who I thought. The door opened slowly and my mom walked into the room in her favorite dress. It was a green flowing gown, she looked as beautiful as ever. She had a beautiful smile and held out her hand for a hug.
"Baby!"
"Mom!" I cried out and ran to hug her.
"I missed you mom." I said as I hugged her.
"I missed you baby." My mom said as she hugged me back.
I took in a deep breath and took in her scent. She smiled like strawberry and vanilla, I always loved her scent. I missed her so much that I started crying, I couldn't believe that I would see my mom again.
My mom started singing the song I loved when I was ten. I hummed along with her until the song ended. I had stopped crying and hugged her tighter.
"Mom, where's dad? I thought.. You… You are dead. What is this place?" I asked lots of questions at once.
"It's true I am dead, but a part of my soul was bound to you that night. I am supposed to be able to communicate with you once you turn eighteen, but you fainted today and I think it triggered the spell earlier than I had planned, so here I am." She explained, she gently patted my head. "I am sorry I can't be with you to see you grow, your dad would have loved to be able to talk with you right now, but it was only my soul that is in you."
"I am glad I fainted, I am glad you are here again Mom." I said, I hugged her tightly.
"I am glad too. But I might not be with you forever." She explained.
"What do you mean? I don't want you to ever go." I said as I cried.
"My baby, you have your own destiny and I can't stay with you forever. Once you have fulfilled your destiny, you won't need me anymore." My mom explained as she dried my tears."The reason why I bind my soul to yours, is to be able to teach you things to protect yourself with. I need you to be strong and it will get rough from here."
I was still crying and my mom showed me a spell that she did for me when she was alive.
She recited some spells and my room was filled with stars littered in the night sky. I smiled and dried my tears.
"Can you teach me how to do this?" I asked.
She agreed, "Close your eyes, take a deep breath… create a scene of what you want, hold that image, let it form…. Keep on breathing slowly… feel the magic in you… release that magic and say what you want."
I did as she said, "A dinner with my mom and dad." I said as I released the magic.
I opened my eyes and I saw my dad,my mom and I laughing together at our dining table. My dad dipped his finger into a pie and rubbed my mom's noise with the cream. I saw myself giggling happily as my mom retaliated by smashing a pie on my dad's face.
I smiled as I watched the scenes unfold, but it didn't last long and the scene started freezing then it vanished. I was confused and wondered what I did wrong.
"You did well for a first timer, as time goes on you will master a lot of spells. Training starts tomorrow. I need you to be ready for the journey ahead. See you tomorrow baby."she said as she kissed me on my head.
I woke up with a smile, I tried practicing what I had just learned and the same thing happened. I was happy that it was not just a dream and I could communicate with my mom. But after much thought, I decided to keep it from Draco and waited till he had gone for work before I trained with my mother.
The training was difficult because I had to train with Draco first, then with my mom. I was always in pain from the bruises I got after training. But it was worth it, I felt myself getting stronger everyday.
