Chapter 13 - Lost track of her

Nik sat on the large couch looking hazy. His heart wasn't settled, he was sure he saw the black car enter the park yard of the club. He had searched for her for hours but he couldn't find her. He used the connections he had to investigate her whereabouts but none gave him a satisfactory answer.

He had just drained his third glass when a smartly dressed waiter bowed to him, "Young Master, there's news about a new racer, he calls himself Denovo."

Nik lazily faced the waiter and asked, "What about him? Aren't people allowed to race?"

The waiter saw the uninterested look in his eyes and continued, "No, I didn't mean it like that. What I'm saying is that this new racer has won the race and it's his first time at the club."

"Just reward him and let it go. You're dismissed," said Nik, filling himself with another glass. He couldn't decipher why that girl could make him feel like this.

It was his second time burying himself in alcohol ever since that tragedy occurred to him. However, being born with high alcohol tolerance, no matter how he drank, he could still feel the searing pain in his heart. It seemed like the girl has awakened something that he had hidden from for a long time.

Meanwhile, Denovo [Seyan] received her golden tag, earning herself envious looks from her fellow racers. However, she was the least bothered as she had long gotten used to the envious looks. At first, when she first entered, she could feel smirks even without evaluation.

They had regarded them as another showoff low-ranked racer, however, she overturned the tables. It seemed they had underestimated her. Having won, Seyan secured herself a large number of fans. She removed her helmet and gently waved to the crowd that immediately gathered around her, bombarding her with questions.

"Denovo, how do you feel about the race today? Is it your first time racing?" asked one of the fans.

"Denovo, I want your autograph, do you mind a selfie with you too?" asked the other one.

Third Fan, "Denovo, do you think that the next time you meet Dark racer, you'll win against him?"

The fans had become increasingly closer to her but she didn't feel much pressure as long as there were no media involved, however, with phones the rumours had to circulate. While Seyan maintained her dazzling fake smile which charmed many.

"Ok, I've heard your questions. However, I'll only answer one. It's my first time racing so I think I was just lucky that I won," she politely answered.

She further cast the fans another dazzling smile and enunciated, "Also, regarding the autograph and selfie thingy, let's do it next time. However, thanks for your support and I'm glad you supported me."

Her simple yet polite address attracted many thus she got many fans in just a day. It was a good beginning on her side. Brewing in her mind was a brand new plan to return with a fantastic return. Having handled the fans properly, she left the spot.

Arriving in the changing room for females, she bumped into a half-dressed female. She had a beautiful tattoo of a lotus flower drawn on her waistline. Seeing this, the female got startled and let out a shocked gasp. Seyan quickly closed the door and approached the female. The female took a step back until she felt the cold wall come into contact with her warm skin.

Seyan could see her fear-stricken expression. She couldn't help but smile but to the other party, the smile only meant bad things. Seyan edged closer to her ear and whispered, "Shh! someone is coming."

They heard a pair of footsteps approaching closer and closer until they faded. Seyan finally released the female and then smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry if I startled you. By the way, I'm Seyan you can call me Denovo."

With that, she began unzipping her suit. The female shied away and turned away. Seyan caught glimpse of her red ears and chuckled lightly. She's too cute to tease, thought Seyan inwardly.

"Chill out, I'm not gonna eat you. Besides, it's not that you have never seen it," teased Seyan.

Seyan sauntered towards her and whispered again, teasing the female further, "You have to keep our encounter a secret. I'm a girl too and from now you have to take care of me."

The female turned only to come face to face with a young female with dark lush hair. Only her maroon suit was unzipped, revealing a white vest covering her chest. She could see her beautiful slender waistline and her long hair that cascaded down her shoulder.

How can she be both beautiful and handsome? She was both a Greek god and goddess.

The female took out her hand and replied, "I'm Vida. Nice to meet you."

Seyan saw a faint blush on her face and smiled, "Haven't you ever had a boyfriend? you blush too easily. Perhaps I can teach you a few or more."

However, at the mention of their boyfriend, Vida frowned. Her expression turned sour and gloomy. Seyan immediately noticed this and asked worriedly, "Hey, did I just touch a sensitive topic? I'm sorry. Let me treat you to a drink, ok?"

Seeing her face, Seyan pleaded with her large doe-like brown eyes, "Please, don't reject me. Be my first friend, do you know how lonely it can be?"

Vida had no choice but to accept. The two left the room and headed to the lounge. Seyan held Vida's waist making it look like they were an item. Seyan chose a spot that faced the breathtaking scenery of Legalese City. The two drank and laughed happily, it was an envious scene. For a moment, Vida forgot all her problems and stared at the gentle Seyan.

A carefree young rich lady, that Vida noticed. The two looked like agemates, however, Vida was a few years older than Seyan. Under the influence of alcohol, Vida spouted all her problems to the sober Seyan who kept on consoling her. Seyan was lucky that her alcohol tolerance was still within her. She was grateful for her brother's 'special lessons.

Seeing the already asleep Vida, Seyan sighed, "Indeed men are all trash. Poor cutie, how can they torment such a sweet girl."

Seyan lifted Vida and booked a room at the hotel which she fully paid for it. Vida somehow reminded her of Saira, her best friend in her past life. Always trying to put on the brave front yet she hurt inside. Seyan was already trapped between two missions, to return to her little weak sister or to remain with the drunk Vida.

After a few moments of contemplating, Seyan wrote a note and left the room silently after making sure it was safe. Seyan returned to the academy as she thought it wouldn't be good to leave Reyo alone.

The next day, Vida flickered her eyes open. She found herself in a foreign yet familiar room. She recognised it as one of the hotel rooms. Her head ached so bad from the hangover last night. She sat upright and her eyes caught sight of a note on the bedside table.

[Sorry, Vida. I couldn't stay with you as I had something urgent to deal with. However, it was nice meeting you. Hope we meet once again.

Love, SM]

Vida smiled though her facial was still occupied with a pang of sadness. Last night was one of her best nights. She had long wanted to vent her emotions and finally, the heavens gave her the person but immediately took her away like the passing wind.
