I had made a lot of progress in only two days of fighting, but I didn't notice any changes in my body when Greed reached level ten. Still, that was fine for now… the stairs leading to the boss chamber were pretty dark, but I kept my guard up the whole time.
"Come out to play, I am kind of bored. I need some excitement before returning to the grind."
Before long, I reached the boss chamber, and for a moment, I thought that I really had arrived in a forest since I couldn't see any parts of the walls, ceiling, and floor of the dungeon; everything was completely covered by vegetation…
In the midst of the chamber, amidst the dimly lit surroundings, my eyes fell upon a sight that both intrigued and bewildered me. A plant monster, its form undulating with a slow, rhythmic motion, occupied the center stage. Its movement, though sluggish, possessed a strange grace, as if it were dancing to a silent melody only it could hear.
Yet, what truly caught me off guard was the sheer size of the creature. Towering above me, it stretched an imposing twenty meters in length and width, while reaching a staggering height of ten meters. It was a behemoth of botanical proportions, its presence dominating the chamber with an air of otherworldly majesty.
As I studied the creature's form, I couldn't help but marvel at its bizarre anatomy. Resembling a colossal green garlic bulb, its segmented body undulated like the legs of a centipede, propelling it forward with an eerie fluidity. Vines and tendrils sprouted from its core, twisting and intertwining in a mesmerizing display of organic complexity.
"Wow, a tentacle plant monster… if it were an aquatic one, it would be one hundred percent effective against women… I should have stopped watching hentai when I had the chance…"
All of a sudden, the monster used it's vines to attack me… even though I was one hundred meters away, they actually reached me, but I swung my sword and chopped off the tips of the vines.
The tentacles trembled a bit as if they were in pain and then retreated… my strength was high enough to deal with the tentacles, so the real issue was the main body. However, the monster had other tricks.
As I watched in surprise, the colossal plant monster before me began to contract and convulse, its segmented body undulating with a strange, rhythmic motion. With each contraction, it seemed to draw in energy from its surroundings, the air crackling with an aura of danger.
And then, in a sudden burst of motion, the creature expelled a golden powder from the top of its body, showering the chamber in a cascade of shimmering particles. The powder danced and twirled in the air, casting a radiant glow that illuminated the darkness with a warm, golden hue.
"I see, I see… very generic. Shall I just burn this fucker to death?"
The golden powder was slowly spreading around the room, and I didn't want to let the monster do whatever it wanted, so I used Envious Flames three times.
The monster used its vines to slash away the vines, and while half of the vines began to burn, they also stopped the attacks. Getting rid of those seemed like a good idea, so I soon fired a bunch more Envious Flames. The monster used more and more vines to destroy the attacks, and it seemed that it had a lot of those, but at least it stopped emitting the power since the flames made the creature shake in pain.
While the monster was shaking, I used the chance to approach with all my might, but soon more vines kept approaching me… at that point in time, I gave up on getting rid of them. So, I just slashed them away with the sword until I got close enough to swing my sword at the body of the creature… much to my surprise, I didn't feel any resistance and it felt like I was cutting leaves.
"Huh?"
I saw the hole in the body of the monster… but it wasn't even letting any liquid escape from it… the beast didn't have any blood, actually. In that brief moment of surprise, the beast summoned a bunch of vines to grab me.
I swung the sword in a wide arc and chopped off more of the vines, more of them came… I kept spinning like a top until I couldn't anymore to get rid of them, but soon I was overwhelmed by the vines and they grabbed all my bones… that was a weird experience, of being grabbed by so many vines.
"I guess my honor has been sullied."
The monster turned me into a rolled piece of bone and then moved my body to the top of its body. In the next moment, I saw the big mouth of the beast opening and showing a bunch of thorns that looked like teeth.
"Farewell, cruel world. I don't want to live in this world anymore."
Before long, the monster devoured me alive…
