Chapter 24 - Five days

I returned to the boss chamber and then created a torch with some branches of plants… it wouldn't work forever without proper oil, so I decided to return to the forth floor and then kill some beasts there. Using their fat, I could substitute the oil.

"It smells pretty bad… but it works pretty well too."

I lightened the torch with Envious Flame and while the tip of it was destroyed, the rest was okay, so I returned to the sixth floor. The torch illuminated an area of ten meters around me, and while the corridors were pretty wide, I decided to use the bone sword for the time being since it was easier to handle.

Before long, I could feel the atmosphere changing and then I heard sound… I raised my guard, but nothing happened. I checked the surroundings but I also didn't notice anything off.

"A spooky sector, huh? Great."

I have had my fill of scary experiences, and it's completely understandable that I am not keen on seeking out more. Being the subject of ridicule for months can definitely leave a lasting impression and make you wary of anything that might evoke similar feelings.

Instead, I found the opportunity to confront those who might underestimate or mock me. Turning the tables and showing them that their opinions hold no weight compared to your own sense of self-worth can be empowering. It's about asserting my confidence and showing that you won't be intimidated or belittled by anyone. I did that by looking at them in the eye time and time again and making them realize that I saw them as less than insects… that stopped them from trying to look at me in the eye ever again.

Facing challenges head-on and coming out on top can be a much more satisfying experience than being scared or intimidated. It's about embracing your own strength and resilience and refusing to let anyone else dictate how you feel or behave.

While I was thinking along those lines, I heard that sound again and before long, I suddenly felt my limbs being grabbed by something and pulling me backward. I raised my left hand not to let the torch be extinguished and then turned around to attack the enemy… I used Envious Flame three times to bombard the creature… it was a horned mummy.

The monster groaned in pain while it was growing and trembled from one side to the other while I was getting up. Before long, it died and then fell on the ground… I looked around but I didn't see where the creature came from…

"Envy, huh… maybe I should increase my magic again since my parameters changed quite a bit."

After grabbing four cooper coins… I found myself in a bit of a bind. My body began to change again. At least I felt that it changed, but I didn't notice any real physical changes. Maybe since my magic increased, it was something more spiritual… Regardless, I could stay on that floor and deal with the spooky horned mummies that come out of nowhere or return to the grind on the fourth floor.

"I guess I will empty my mana here and then grind on the fourth floor until I get bored."

While Deimos was in the dungeon, several days passed, the orc Chieftain, Gorgo, was starting to run out of patience… he didn't think that the vampire queen would send someone like the death knight to the dungeon for so long… even if it was to recover his power, spending five days there was just insane… moreover, she was crazy about him. The vampire queen that he knew wouldn't let that guy stay away from her for so long.

"I will just find him myself there… I want to crush him in front of everyone, but I can just drag him outside and do that. Even if people don't see the whole thing, they will feel satisfied in seeing that bastard getting beaten down.

Gorgo's left his tent and then began to cross the city. However, soon he saw a lot of people heading to the dungeon… it seemed that something had happened and he could tell what it was.
