Jane POV
"The great Olympic coven," behaving like a headless chicken, squabbling amongst themselves, is one of the strongest covens reduced to this after losing their single member and one human pet. If not for our presence, they would be on each other's throats.
Edward the telepath makes an angry grimace, probably reading my mind. I glare at him, making him experience unimaginable pain.
The Cullens tense up. Knowing we are less in numbers, I release the telepath, but not before making him scream one more time.
"Cough," I say, clearing my throat. "Now, all of you need to pay attention."
Edward stands up and regroups with his family, but all of them keep their distance from him, other than Esme, but even she is acting unnatural after Carlisle's death.
"We need to work together to take that newborn down."
I say.
"He is too dangerous; he does not care about the laws of Volturi," Alec says.
"He can push our whole kind to extinction if he's allowed to act freely," Dmetri says.
"You are just scared of his potential; you do not care about anyone," Edward growls.
This telepath is just as dangerous; at least he was easy to manipulate before, but now, after losing his pet, he is degenerating into a rabid dog.
Controlling myself from giving him another painful jolt, I continue, "Don't you all want revenge?. He killed your father figure, and we want to protect the order.".
"Don't forget the mess from earlier. If not for us suppressing it, who knows what would happen to the world order? And your coven is partially responsible for that; do you know the punishment for that?."
"Death," I replied.
Cullens quietened down, facial expressions tense, each holding the hand of their mate tightly. Just Edward and Esme sticking out like sore thumbs.
"That felt like the right thing to do. Accepting his surrender, he seemed so harmless and innocent, but all of a sudden he turned into another individual." Esme said.
"You don't have the right to decide what will happen, but since you did, you will suffer the consequences then." I replied.
"If you help us now, then the merciful Aro will decrease the meted-out punishment. If not, all of you are well aware of the history. I continued.
"Woosh"
Edward disappears in the forest, leaving us in an awkward silence.
Right then, their fortune teller suddenly goes into a daze, and the entire family takes a protective formation around her.
She slowly opens her eyes, looking a bit disoriented. Jasper grabs her hand.
She blinks her eyes before her chalky face loses even more color. Deep purple bruises suddenly appear underneath her eyes, and her ugly golden eyes turn pitch black, like she had not fed for months.
"Alice" Jasper screams.
"Aaaaahh!" She lets out a hysterical scream, shattering all the glass windows in the cullen's house.
"Kaach"
"Kaach"
"Woosh"
The scream brought the telepath back; probably only he can tell what she saw.
I observe him while his eyes slowly widen in despair. I swear, if he blacks out too like the fortune teller, fortunately he comes out of his daze.
"What did you see?" I ask.
"It wasn't clear—just bits and images, mixed with screams of despair and blank, dark images. The entire town of forks was on fire; your black cloaks were burning, and several humanoids covered in a dark aura were bringing destruction and death everywhere.
The whole hall was pin-drop silent, with wariness and concern etched on all our faces.
Only Jasper, indifferent to all this, was giving all his attention to Alice.
"The future she sees is subjective; it may or may not happen." My bother pats my head to calm me down.
Yes, that human pet who was supposed to die before survived. The future isn't written in stone; we can still change it.
Esme, hearing the future, starts panicking. Tsk, this woman is weaker than even a human.
I have to step up; I can't let things develop like this. Even the Volturi will have trouble trying to suppress the news of the disappearance of a town.
But, with the level of trust between our groups, it's hard to cooperate. I struggle trying to come up with a plan before my senses tingle, directing me to look outside, where I watch in horror large clouds of smoke flying over the city, along with the despairing screams of humans.
I nod towards my brother, planning to rush there, before several cars come flying towards us.
"Woosh"
"Woosh"
"Boom"
"Bang"
The entire Cullens house gets destroyed.
