Jasper POV
As we reach the Uley Pack's territory, we are greeted by a terrible stench of wolves's blood. The smell of their blood is as disgusting as ever. The wolves got riled up, smelling a vampire scent again, but seeing it was us, they calmed down.
As we approached them, they made sure to make us feel that we were not welcome here. The growling and guttural roars echoing from their throats kept us on edge. Before their Alpha made them behave, one roar, and they all quietened down like puppies. It was, honestly, an amusing sight. I stopped myself from letting out a smile and focused on their emotions, all of them maintaining a calm exterior to mask their inner turmoil. They will probably attack us in their current state.
Sharing a wary look with Emmett and Rosalie, all four of us followed Sam in his werewolf form. The smell of grease and oil hit us as we saw a torn-up house. Not far away, we saw a headless body—Jacob's, I presume—his headless body still wrapped up in plaster from having half of his bones broken.
I sense grief from all the wolves at the site, but from Sam, I sensed gratitude. It was interesting; no wonder the wolves were angry at him. Through their telepathic link, all the wolves must know what their leader is thinking.
"We came as fast as we could," I told Sam.
He didn't reply, gazing up at the afternoon sun.
"We had our own trouble; the damage caused by his minions in the city was too much; we aren't sure if we can suppress it completely like before," I continued.
If only Edward was here, things would be a lot easier with him working as our translator, but who knows where he vanished after the fight?
Emmett and Rosalie stood tense while holding each other's hands, their emotions telling me they didn't want to be here. While I agree with them, it was important to come and take a look; after all, we were allies not long ago.
While I share a look with them, thinking that we have overstayed our presence, Alice in my arms suddenly goes still, her eyes dazed. I start panicking, thinking about the backlash, but a few seconds later she comes back to normal, thankful that she's fine. I give a nod towards Emmett and Rosalie, grateful that they still have our backs.
"What did you see?" Rosalie asks.
I see Alice looking around with wary eyes, probably not wanting to speak in front of wolves. I pat her head to assure her, and that gets the job done, and the wolves too are pricking their ears up and paying attention.
"I saw him," Alice says. Everyone here understood who she was talking about.
"On Helena Campsite, hunting humans, he was hurt and seemed weak," Alice continues.
Helena Campsite isn't too far; at our speed, we can get there in ten minutes. As I ponder this, I hear a shrill roar from the treelines. We all get tensed before we realize it was Edward; he probably read Alice's mind and is now going after Jason.
"Idiot," Rosalie spat.
Emmett shakes his head, clearly disapproving of Edward's action.
We are all family; no matter what, we will always have each other's back, especially for Edward, "our youngest."
We all share a look with each other before saying our farewells to the wolves before whizzing off.
Jason POV
As I dig my teeth inside a girl, I realize these humans are worthless; no matter how many humans I drain, it won't be enough to compensate for my weakness. As I let go of her corpse, which slowly disappears into nothingness, I step out of the tent, ignoring the screaming of humans. I sharply look up, feeling a sense of being spied upon. My heart sinks as I realize my location has been compromised.
"Alice," I hissed shrilly.
I lift the nearest human and slam him into a tree. His body explodes into a bloody spectacle, quietening all the campers in sight before they scream even louder than before.
I looked around the chaotic crowd. I had to make everything count, I decided, before going on a bloody rampage.
A minute later, the camp site was utterly silent, with no stench of blood, no bloody clothes in sight, and no evidence of what happened here. As I admire my chaotic masterpiece of the camp site, I sense movement from a mile away, like the arrival of a rampaging Titan, destroying everything in its path.
"Edward," I whisper.
Probably picking up on my whisper, the destruction got worse. I see a large tree flying through the air and crashing on me.
"Hahahah!" I laugh before catching the tree and throwing it back to him.
"Boom"
The tree goes up in splinters after crashing to the ground.
Sixty seconds, I conclude, is the time I have to defeat Edward and put enough space between me and the reinforcements, or I might die.
I hear distant howls; interestingly, the wolves are coming too now.
I might be in a pinch then.
"Trouble," I mutter.
Before looking up, I saw my one-handed enemy lunging at me.
