Chapter 14 - CHAPTER 14- ON THE WAY TO EGYPT

Jason POV

The oldest and the most powerful vampires are part of the same coven, this might come as a suprise to any supernatural being in this world, but not me.

Amun is thought to be around 5000 years old; to survive for so long is probably the most impressive feat among all supernaturals in this world. He, along with his mate Kebi, are the only ones to survive the ancient "Coven War," alongside a handful of other ancient vampires.

Once living a lavish life in ancient Egypt, possibly the entire Egyptian pantheon was based on his coven, or they picked the names of deities—no one knows.

He's always been sly, doing anything to survive another day, always on the move. He was described as paranoid and distrustful in the novel; it won't be easy to find his coven.

When all of his coven members refused to bow their heads to the Volturi, they were executed, but he didn't hesitate; he bowed then and there, promising to lead a reclusive lifestyle away from all mortals. Though he's been plotting his vengeance for all these years, he's not brave enough to act.

That's where his strongest weapon comes in, Benjamin," with the ability to control elements to a certain degree—the man who was responsible for the victory against Volturi in the final movie to a large extent. Probably no one knows of his existence now, and they never will if my hunt succeeds.

Working as a street performer, during his teenage years, he was found by Amun and turned into a vampire, though he refused to be used as a weapon later. His mate Tia is not extraordinary in any way; according to the lore, Amun has no gift, but his instinct to survive is possibly the strongest in the whole world.

"This hunt will be tough," I sigh as I look around me. My pawns totaling 21 stood around me. We were on hunting break, but for now we have to make due with animal blood since there are no human settlements nearby.

It's been two weeks since Edward died. I have been on the move constantly since then, traveling and looking for perfect vessels to turn. Finally, I have reached western Europe. I have hunted dozens of vampires by now. My pawns need a constant supply of vampire or wolf essence or they will die.

"Sigh." Such a limitation to my abilities; maybe I will need the help of other vampires. No matter how much I dislike this idea, hunting supernatural creatures left and right has turned me into an enemy of the world.

I raise my head and look at the beautiful full moon in the sky, my vampiric eyesight granting me a much better view than before. Maybe it's a good omen, and maybe things will go my way.

Egypt is too far now, so my plan is to hunt the lone vampires and a few famous covens on the way, like the "Irish Coven," the "Amazonian Coven," the last two members of the Romanian Coven, and a few hidden wolf packs.

"Woosh"

I quickly scale a tree, and before stopping on the top, my senses tingle to my left, telling me about the hustle and bustle there—a human settlement, I conclude.

A wicked grin crawls on my face, my crimson eyes glinting under the moonlight as I bent the tree towards one side before catapulting towards the village. My pawns blending in darkness quietly followed me.

Tonight was destined to be a bloody night.
