Jason POV
The ability to make others see what you want is such an overpowered ability that we only see it briefly in the final movie, where it's used on Edward and the Denali sisters, all of whom are dead now.
Amazon Coven, with its pitiful two members and only one having a gift, seems like the perfect prey, but no, the gift of visual projection should not be underestimated. For a lone vampire, it will be fatal, but for me, it will be a child's play.
Or so I thought.
"Boom"
Being thrown through a rock is not a good thing to feel. Slowly, I stood up and dusted my clothes. Looking up, I met five pairs of crimson eyes and several giant wolves encircling me.
"Well, I wasn't expecting this," I sighed. Honestly, I did. It's natural for weaklings to work together. I guess my exploits have spread far and wide by now. Normally, I would send my pawns to do recon, but this time I fell into a trap.
Well, let me explain.
I sent my pawn to explore the path to the next pack; everything went perfectly. I observed the pack, finalized they could be dealt with, and proceeded forward, but right when I approached their territory, I lost my connection with the pawn, signaling he was dead.
Illusion: yes, it seems my pawns are not perfect. Zafrina, with her gift of visual projection, lured me into a trap; it seems like they know some of my weaknesses.
No doubt, the courtesy of the remaining Cullens, their turn will come soon. Now to focus on this.
With a pitiful five pawns, I probably can't dominate the battlefield, but this battle will be fun.
Two different covens are working together with wolves to take me down.
"Irish and Amazon," I muttered. The eyes of the vampires surrounding me widened before they became emotionless again.
"Not in the mood to talk, I see." I continued with a nod, not caring whether they listened or not.
Zafrina was standing behind the group, with a few wolves seemingly guarding her, their hair rising on the ends. Was it because of the bad smell of vampires, the smell of dead wolves on me, or something else? I wasn't interested in knowing.
I raised my head and took a look at the sky—the last embers of daylight, the sun seemingly about to disappear behind the tall trees, the smell of soil and rain wafting across, a gentle breeze tousling my hair, bearing witness to this battle.
Two beautiful girls with olive pallor skin wearing tribal dresses in a squat, their lips pulled up at their teeths, their hands ready to rip me apart.
Two beautiful pale-skinned girls in somewhat modern black clothes, probably a popular Irish dress from the 16th century, take a similar stance as the other two girls, their beautiful red hair flying in the air and making them appear wild and seductive. The other male dressed in a long overcoat, like he was afraid of cold, in a similar stance.
Six giant wolves surrounded me, each growling and thrashing their paws on the ground, like they couldn't wait to jump on me. But one of them stood still, gazing at me with solemn eyes—their Alpha, I presumed. And two others are guarding Zafrina.
They probably know each other well; otherwise, a vampire would never expose their backs to wolves.
"Interesting," I said. Startling the nearby wolves, who almost leapt on me.
"I have something to show you," I said with a gentle smile. While looking at the Alpha, I slowly put my hand in my pocket to pull out a present that all wolves will like.
The vampires looked wary, but they didn't rush. With the present out, the smell of the dead wolves on my body became so overwhelming that these newly phased wolves started howling and scratching the ground, digging craters.
I merely smiled in response to the ruckus, ignoring the quaking ground. I threw the claw of a dead wolf at the Alpha, seemingly being the last trigger needed. The Alpha no longer held them back, telepathically commanding them to attack me.
"Bang"
"Kach"
I punched the nearest wolf hard. With a sickening crunch, it was launched through several trees before falling to the ground and lying motionlessly in a crater. Its life or death unknown.
"Well, come on then," I said with a mocking smile.
