Chapter 36 - Inhabitants (1)

If they were naked, shorter, and had bigger heads, they would look exactly like the standard alien in most people's minds. Meanwhile, the aliens for teenagers looked like hot blue chicks that had four boobs or something.

Putting that aside, the green skin sure was a bit weird… Aaron didn't think that the atmosphere would make people's bodies look like that.

"Now that I think about it… the fish were also blue, and they could almost be hard to catch with eyes alone in the water thanks to it," Aaron thought. "Maybe camouflage is a thing here, just like cell phones are a thing now for people on Earth."

Now, that made Aaron feel a bit more cautious. He was still learning the basics of stealth, and he was basically a newbie at his new job. He might learn things fast but not fast enough to immediately know what he should do or what the most optimal path was.

In any case, Aaron saw people bringing their things to the wagon that was being driven by someone who looked exactly like them, but it was being pulled by a giant lizard that seemed pretty similar to a triceratops but on a smaller scale.

The green creature retained the general body shape of a typical triceratops, with a sturdy and compact build. However, due to the absence of its hind limbs, it stands slightly shorter in height compared to its four-legged dinosaurs. Its body was covered in thick, scaly skin, which is predominantly green in color, blending with its surroundings.

Starting from its massive head, the creature also exhibited the iconic triceratops features. It possesses a large, bony frill at the back of its skull, adorned with small bumps and ridges, serving as both protection and display. From the frill, two long, curved horns extend upwards, just above its beady, expressive eyes. The third, shorter horn projects forward from the tip of its snout, forming a distinctive triangle formation.

"How curious…" Aaron rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I want one."

Putting that aside, Aaron didn't see the driver carrying any crazy shit. He was only trading a lot of things with the people in the village. The warehouses were pretty big, and there were no fields around for some reason, so he imagined that they were raising some kind of cattle there.

Their products apparently weren't that valuable since they were trading a lot more for less… Regardless, that kind of information didn't help Aaron all that much. He needed to know who was building crazy shit in that world, and it looked like he wasn't going to get many answers in a place like that. There is not even an estimation of the strength of the people there.

"I guess I will just sleep for the day and then cross the area at night," Aaron thought.

Aaron didn't have a rain cloak or anything that couldn't get wet, so he was heading to endure a crazy night. For now, the weather was fine, but he should try to run away from the rain as much as possible once the night falls.

In the end, as if he had total control of his own sleeping pattern, Aaron woke up when the sun was setting. The dark clouds on the horizon looked away more ominous now, and he also could see some flashes of lightning in the distance… he felt like he should increase the level of Dash more.

Aaron checked the village one more time and confirmed that the wagon was long gone and the people in the village were preparing for the rain as well… some buildings had some sort of long dark canvas protecting their buildings. Aaron could take a piece of those and use it against the rain… but it would be a risky move.

When night fell, and some drops of rain began to fall, Aaron approached the big buildings that had been left alone earlier. Some parts of the canvas were being held by some stones, but Aaron had an easy time cutting it off and then covering himself with it. He could hear the grunts of animals inside, so he left in a hurry to leave without being noticed.

Without wasting time, Aaron began to run toward the mountains. Dash was activated, and then he felt his speed reach fifty kilometers per hour, but one point of stamina was being drained per second. He could only keep that speed for a little more than two minutes.

After some breaks, he confirmed that he could recover the same amount per second, but once he began to run uphill, the cost doubled.

"Woah…" Aaron raised his voice when he almost slipped. "Climbing a mountain path while running in this weather isn't a good idea."

The raindrops fell steadily, creating a symphony of gentle pitter-patter as they collided with the ground, leaves, and Aaron's surroundings. Each droplet adds to the rhythm, harmonizing with his footfalls as they meet the earth in a synchronic dance. The rain created a steady patter on his body, slowly soaking his sneakers.

Feeling the texture of the earth beneath his shoes—a mix of loose gravel, damp soil, and occasional rocky outcrops. The rainwater created small rivulets and puddles, making some sections slippery and demanding extra caution. As if that wasn't troublesome enough, Aaron began to hear some howls around him… the mountain was more dangerous than he had predicted.
