Chapter 39 - Civilization (1)

Another milestone: 40 readers! Here is a bonus chapter to celebrate.

Aaron jumped a bit and then avoided the spears. At the same time, he ran over one of them and immediately landed behind one of the guards before pulling his arm and breaking it.

"I am sorry about this, but you guys didn't give me any other choice," Aaron said while the guard fell to his knees while, groaning in pain.

The guards looked more pissed than before and looked at each other as if they were communicating with their eyes alone. That wasn't good.. Plan A didn't work, and apparently, plan B didn't work either. At that rate, Aaron will have to choose between losing blood or making others do that.

Before the guards could charge again, Aaron grabbed the horns of the alpha wolf and then charged at one of the guards. The guy tried to stab him, but Aaron blocked the attack and then took a step forward, and then smashed the face of the guard with the side of his weapon and made the guy fall unconscious. They weren't that strong or durable, apparently. Still, the others charged at Aaron like nothing bad happened.

"This isn't good, Aaron Hayes. Those people will never see you as their equal. Your hesitation in killing them is completely useless. It doesn't matter how many of them you spare. They won't listen to you."

"I thought that you wouldn't talk to me often…" Aaron said while taking a few steps backward.

"We are not going to do this again. This is just a reminder. You can only leave this planet and all the others once you complete your mission. If you fail, you will die alongside it. We are telling you this now because it is hard to find people like you, but it is not impossible. If you are to die here, that would only be a minor inconvenience for us."

Aaron knew that things could end up like that, but he thought that the aspects would save him if the push came to shove… maybe he had been naive. He was In despair enough to do everything necessary to save Earth.

After taking a deep breath, Aaron closed his eyes and then opened them, showing a dangerous glint… he never killed another sapient being, but he had to do it now. If he hesitates, a lot more people will die, according to the possibilities of the mission. He could get a 66 percent chance of saving the world without having to kill everyone and everything in it… he had to take those chances, but the cost was the fact that he would have to spill some blood and gain enough power to do so.

While the guards were hesitating, Aaron charged at them. The guards prepared their spears and then trusted them forward. Some aimed at Aaron's stomach, while others targeted his head. Still, he jumped at middle height while moving to the side and then avoided the hits. In the next moment, he impaled the throats of two soldiers with his weapons.

The smell of blood began to spread in the area as the guards noticed the death of their allies. They froze on the spots again, and that gave Aaron enough time to approach others and stab them as well. At the same time, he finished off the ones that he knocked down before.

Some shouts coming from the city began to spread in the area. Aaron ignored that and just focused on the guards in front of him. Still, he finishes off those ten guys in the blink of an eye.

When Aaron turned to the gate, he saw some more armed people approaching, but they weren't wearing any armor. They didn't look like guards, but similar to the guys that were guarding the wagon that he saw before.

"Are you all willing to talk now, or are you going to keep fighting and die like some morons?" Aaron asked.

The soldiers and guards charged without saying anything… they either thought that Aaron was a monster or that he was from a species that was so far beneath them that talking with him would be the same as trying to have a serious conversation with a dog… that seriously pissed him off.

Still, Aaron calmed down a bit. There was no point in getting angry. Those guys would make him stronger by giving him energy, and he would use that energy to buy time for Earth. If anything, he should be thankful for that… that logic was too flawed for Aaron's tastes, he was a serious scientist, after all, but he decided to follow through with it.

The enemies threw their spears at Aaron, but he dodged them by a thin margin while he also approached them. Those who had shields lowered their stances and formed a wall to stop his advance, but that didn't help all that much. Aaron suddenly charged and then knocked one of the enemies when he attacked their shield with a drop kick. At the same time, Aaron swung his weapons to the side and stabbed the neck of two of the enemies.

While Aaron wanted to continue the attack, he stopped for a moment since he felt that something was weird… all of a sudden, the number of enemies had decreased by half, and he couldn't see any of them running away.

While he hesitated, Aaron heard the sound of grass being smashed behind him at a fast pace, and then he suddenly lowered his stance, only to see a spear suddenly passing above him…
