Chapter 4 - Demons

"Is everyone alright?" The middle-aged Teacher in charge of the excursion asked after getting down from the bus which had flipped to the side.

Alec was the next person to get off the bus, his head slightly bruised and a somewhat enraged look in his eyes. He stared at a particular spot, not moving his gaze one bit, his eyes were on the creature that caused the bus to crash.

The rest of the kids came out of the bus with minor injuries, but the driver was stuck. After the bus flipped, a large rod pierced through the bus, going through the bus driver in the process.

Not seeing the driver, the Teacher wore a worried expression but she saw Alec walking towards another side with an enraged look, his destination, the Devon Mountain range.

'What's wrong with this kid now?' The Teacher complained softly before saying, "Alec, stay with the group, I'm going to see if i can help Mister James."

Seeing that Alec showed little to no reactions, she added, "Call for help, Alec. We're not far from the Town."

Alec stopped and turned to look at the Teacher, with a disgruntled nod, he decided to call his father.

….

Back at the Mexorburg Town.

"Timothy, how could you let it escape?" Deacon Ammon looked at the young priest standing by his side.

"I'm sorry, Deacon. It's stronger than we thought. It's in the Devon Mountains now and shouldn't come back." The priest called Timothy replied.

Deacon Ammon was about to reply when he felt his cell phone ring, bringing it out, he noticed it was a call from Alec. He looked at Timothy, clearly displeased before picking up the phone.

"What is it, son?"

After hearing of the accident from Alec, Deacon Ammon looked at the rough estimate of where Alec said they crashed and his expression turned grave. His gaze fell on Timothy before saying, "Let's go."

Timothy dropped his head but followed behind him.

Within five minutes, they arrived at the scene of the accident, and just as the Deacon had expected, it was the same demon priest Timothy let escape.

Timothy felt a surge of guilt, especially after seeing the state the driver was in.

"Deacon, you're here." The Teacher said when she saw the arrival of the Deacon and two other priests.

"My son called, and since I wasn't too far from here, I rushed over. " Deacon Ammon explained.

While he was speaking with them, the other priest started to use the holy water with him to create some ruins that will help in chasing this demon away.

Alec looked at them and saw that there was a notable change in how the creature acted the moment the holy water was brought out.

The priest handling this started subtly using it in disguise of praying, only Alec who could see the creature knew that whatever he was doing was by no means an act of prayer, he seemed to be fighting against the creature.

Just as he was about to ask the priest what was happening, he suddenly perceived a foul stench. Turning his head to the place the stench was coming from, Alec saw his father being thrown out of the bus by an eight-headed figure. Of the eight heads, one belonged to the driver, Mister James.

Bang!

Deacon Ammon's figure slammed on the ground, but he hurriedly stood up and said to the Teacher, "Take the kids and go, he's been possessed."

The second the students and the Teacher heard the word 'Possessed', they freaked out. They have all heard about how humans are possessed by demons, and knew that other than priests, no one could cast them out. This is the use of the Cathedrals that were raised in all corners of the world.

When more and more humans started to get possessed by demons, churches were created and priests were trained in other to fend off these demons. There are a few places that are regarded as off-limits due to people being possessed if they step into such places, one of such places was the Devon Mountain range. It is said to be home to thousands of demons, and even though the priests from multiple Cathedrals had come together to purge the area of these demons, it had proven to be a futile effort, and some of the priests never returned from it.

….

Alec looked at the driver who had grown to over three meters tall, and he could feel a powerful aura coming from it. The aura was so strong that it felt like he was being suffocated. He shook his head to try to regain clarity, but then, the demon looked him in the eyes, he felt his soul being sucked out of him, he appeared on a platform, surrounded by flames he heard a voice…

"I'll be coming for what's mine."

"Alec! Alec! Alec!"

The Teacher was calling Alec while shaking him repeatedly, Alec, who had fallen into a trance couldn't hear or feel anything.

"Alec!" The Teacher yelled with all her might and Alec regained his senses once again, he looked at his Teacher, then at his father before running towards his father's direction.

"Alec, go back this instant!" Deacon Ammon looked at him with a displeased expression.

"Father, I can see it." Alec refused to leave.

When his father heard him say this, he paused and looked at the Teacher, "Go with the others, I'll take care of him."

The Teacher nodded and turned around, while running past the priest who created the ruin that made the other demon show signs of withdrawal, she heard him say.

"No matter what, do not turn back."
