Aurora
The sun shone through the window into the house casting beautiful rays around. It was probably 7 a.m., but the sun was just getting up in the sky. I made hot coffee, two cups of it and took one to Mr Frostbite on his bed.
The smell of coffee woke him up. His scattered hair made him look hot and sexy as he sat down on the bed and yawned. His bare torso gave me a splint of joy. I have found myself a husband, or so I thought. His fairly carved lips and brows were perfect, making him look like a villain in a love story.
He yawned again and raised a brow. "Is something on my face?" He asked.
I smiled and handed him a cup of coffee. "Yes, too much handsomeness. I don't know where you got it from." I sat on the white chair and crossed my legs. I took a sip and burnt my tongue. I pretended to be fine and smiled. "What does your mother look like?"
He looked out into space and thought for a while. "I can't remember. But I know she loves everything black."
I felt sad, engrossed with instant regret. "I'm sorry."
He gulped down the coffee like it was lukewarm and smiled. "She's not dead, well, maybe she is now but I'm sure she enjoyed her life. It's nothing to be sad about. I'm glad she left because I sent her away."
I lost my words, wishing I hadn't asked in the first place. "What's that piece?" I said pointing at a royal picture on the wall. There was a man on a horse, a red cloak attached to his armour. He held a golden sword and a shield in his hands and a crown hung on his head. He had a striking resemblance with Mr Frostbite.
"Is this your grandfather?" I asked. He glanced at it and focused back on his cup. "That's me. About a hundred years ago when I went into battle against humans and witches. They wanted to end my reign but I am far stronger than that."
I laughed. His speech was amazing and he had a very good sense of humour. "Well. That fits. Care to tell me what exactly happened? Why do these humans and witches want your life?" He looked serious even when he was cracking a joke.
"I don't know. I think I am just too handsome for them to stand. My beauty has been unmatched." I nodded.
"Indeed. Well, I need to get back home and prepare for work since you might need me in the company. I was meant to meet someone yesterday too so I think I'll do that first." I went over to him and kissed his lips lightly. "Don't be late Mr Frostbite." I winked and left.
I saw a handwritten letter on the table when I got home. Mom had been worried and she wanted me to give her a call once I got home. I found my phone on the bed in my room. Mike and Mom had called. Silly me, I forgot it at home.
I called Mom first to assure her I was good and that I only had a night shift at the company. As for Mike, I sent him a message to meet me at my house. He came as soon as he got the message like he had been hanging around the neighborhood.
"Aurora," he said when I opened the door. He had flowers, lilies to be precise. "What happened?"
"Come on in. Are these for me?" Of course, they are. I smiled and took them from him. "Thank you, I love them."
He sat on the couch with me. I swirled my hair around and packed them over one shoulder. "Yesterday…something happened." I intend on telling him the truth and getting down with it. I don't love him anymore and I have found someone better. I can't stick with him anymore.
"You were going to see me. You assured me of that."
"Well I fit a job and I had to do some stuff yesterday that needed my attention. Besides, I found someone I am seeing."
His expression changed. "You found someone?"
I nodded. "Yes, and I was with him last night. Your calls, I didn't get them because I forgot my phone at home."
"Damn Aurora. That's too blunt. You can tell me something else, something like you are still thinking about it."
"I don't want to like Mike. Besides, you have broken my heart once, I don't think I want to give you another chance to do so."
He shook his head and rested his chin on his hand. "So this new guy…he is the one you want to give the avenu to break your heart? C'mon Aurora. Think! A Devil you know is better than an angel you do not know."
I smirked. "Is that you confess to be the devil? Look, I don't need silly quotes but I can play along. When a door of happiness closes, another one opens. I don't want to be so blind not to see the new door okay? I have my choices to make."
He was disappointed but he didn't say anything after that. He stood up and smoothened his suit. "I am not giving up on you and I am going to prove to you that I can do better. You deserve better…I would be better. I'll see you around baby. You just wait."
I thought he was going to take his flower along but he didn't. He left like a gentleman, making me feel guilty. I stood up to take my bath but a foreign force and feeling made me sit back. I felt heavy and light. My eyes felt blind and my heartbeat raced. I was stiff but I could see myself growing into a foreign thing.
Hair came out from my body and my bones cracked. The pain was unbearable and I forced myself to fall on my knees. I gritted my teeth and tried to scream for help but my voice was gone.
