Lucas.
"I am not leaving until you tell me what you intend on doing with that girl in your room. I have all the right to know about it. I oversee this part of Crescent Hollow and I would not allow you to toss it in the mud with your insane intentions."
Freya walked up and down the hallway while I rested on the wall and read a book. All her rants were gone to waste, I hardly heard any word.
"…are you even listening!"
I closed the book and sighed. "There is nothing you should know about Freya. Keep your nose to yourself and mind your business. You have the power you have thanks to me. What I give, I can take away so you kind that filthy mouth of yours. I would give no explanations."
I stood and tossed the book at her. "Watch Aurora and make sure she is okay. Is that fine? I don't want anything to be heard…no rumours."
She nodded and I left. I spent my day at the Beta's house and later spoke to Alexander about the report he gave earlier today.
"It is the news we got in the morning. The death however was different from the first ones. The marks were deep and some of them were slaughtered."
"What do you mean?" I asked and tested on the chair's arm.
"Some of the bodies were displaced, the head was found down north while the other parts were found elsewhere with a "M" drawn on them with a very sharp object. It's too creative for a werewolf to do. I am afraid we need to take protective measures before it comes to us."
Alexander's wife used to be a witch and this wasn't the first time he would be telling me we needed protection for the Hollow. I laughed. "Are you trying to tell me that I am not capable of protecting you?"
He lowered his voice. "That's not what I meant, Alpha."
"Then let me know what you meant. I don't want to dispose of you, Alex. Your son, he's old enough for the moon sacrifice. Would you rather us use him for it? No, I have become too calm these years but don't forget what I can do. Do not put words into my mouth and do not remember that your wife is an outcast."
All of my words pointed to the fact that he wanted me to give his wife the go-ahead to use her magic to protect the kingdom.
I left his place and travelled down to Aspen Ridge. I got a low pack, a Brantson pack. I walked into the main station and met a very old man who recognized me immediately. "I know you," he said and took a step back. "You are the psycho who did this to us."
"Where is your Alpha?"
"I'll show you." I followed the man around the station to the back of it. He pointed to a grave. "There he is. Let me know when you are done talking to him."
This man had no fear whatsoever but I was at the same time way older than him. "He's dead. Who is the next Alpha?"
"He had a wife, a kid but he had just been born. Then you killed the Alpha, and you have returned to kill the son. We would not allow that to happen."
I shook my head. "I have no idea what you are talking about but they were true and I was going to come here to get the little prince, how do you intend to stop me? With your cracked-up muscles?"
The man closed in on me. "We have witches. Witches would do the work and you would be soon gone."
I held his neck and raised him off the ground. He struggled to free himself but I've only gotten started. "Let's see who's going first then."
"I suppose you should have changed by now," a tamale voice said behind me. I threw the old man far away and turned back to meet the owner of the voice.
"Lucas Frostbite, what a pleasant surprise. You know this pack has a leader…not an Alpha."
"Emily?"
"Bravo, you remember me," she said and slid a finger around my shoulder as she walked around me in circles. "I have looked for ways to get to you but all traces ended up in Crescent Hollows. I thought I would pay a visit but thank god you came out of your prison."
I laughed. The last time I saw Emily, I was filled with mountain ash and she died on the arch, alongside Gerald. If she's alive then…she can't be the only one.
"Fine." She stopped walking. "I'll give you a tip and you can't find out the rest. I know you are curious, you want to know what happened and why I look the same as 59 years ago."
"Who did this to you?"
She laughed sinisterly. "I love the way you pretend to care, it's one of your charms. At least, be happy you met me again. I died…and so did all the humanity in me. I am sure you know what it feels like to make a kill. Of course, you killed me."
"Emily, did you get involved with a vampire? I know vampires Emy, they would make sure they kill all their creations without leaving a trace."
"And what about you? Hun? You turned me into a wolf and then killed me before I fell in love with Gerald. You should have allowed me to live my pathetic human life as you used to call it. Don't think you are too mighty to be destroyed. You have climbed too high, if you were to fall…I doubt you would survive that. Leave Lucas, I don't wanna see you here again."
"Alright then. Tell Gerald I say hi. And you, if you ever set foot in Crescent Hollow, you would never leave with them."
While leaving, I had hoped I would never cross paths with Emily again. I don't want to have to kill her the second time. She's alive, the same way she was when I killed her. She could only have survived with a vampire's blood. Vampires are in town.
