Chapter 25 - The training

Aurora

Someone knocked on the door rapidly catching my attention and diverting them from the book in my hand. They don't usually knock on the door here and I was sure there was no way Lucas would knock before coming into his room.

Trevor.

The doorknob turned and Trevor came in.

"Erm…hello?"

"I knew it was you. You seem to be the only one with the sense of decency in this whole kingdom you call the Crescent Hollow. I have been waiting for you, Trevor."

He sat down on the chair beside my desk. "We are going out today, a different adventure."

"Oh yeah! Now that's what I'm talking about," I smiled and walked to him. With both palms settled on my hips, I raised a brow and asked. "How do you intend to do that with all the guards watching me?"

He stood up and sighed. He reached into his pocket and brought out an emerald necklace. He hooked it at the back of my neck and stepped back to take a look at me. "Perfect."

"It's beautiful. Thank you."

"Oh, actually, you are going to give that back. No one must see it on you, they would know you have been out. It's an heirloom, quite popular."

I rolled my eyes and left the position I was in. Turning back, it was as if I was looking at the mirror. I was staring back at myself. I looked at Trevor, trying not to freak out.

"It's called a Holoman. You know, like a hologram. It's just controlled with magic and it is more real than a hologram. As long as you have the necklace on, she will remain here doing all the things you would have done if you were here. Now, are you ready to leave? We would be teleporting…in a way Lucas won't find out. Here, take my hands."

I figured I'd keep my question until we were done with the adventure. I took his hand and in the blink of an eye, we were in a forest. The forest looked…pleasing and scary and a little too empty.

"Where is this?" I asked.

"I discovered it myself," he said. "I call it the Safe Heven. It's an empty part of this universe. An hour here is about five minutes in Crescent Hollow because there is a time barrier that was broken years ago. I'll tell you that story some other day but for today, let's focus on your strength."

"I'm here to train?" I got very excited about leaving the fucked up Crescent Hollow and getting an opportunity to come see a very beautiful place like this. And for all it's worth, I am going to train myself to be a better wolf as they call it. Trevor is really something.

"Where do I start, what do I do?" I was filled with excitement and enthusiasm.

"Okay, first things first. You see that tree over there?" He pointed to a willow tree about a mile away. I shadowed my eyes with my palm and squinted my face.

"That's pretty far. What am I going to do there?" I asked.

"You have to run there and bring back a leaf in five seconds. I know you have discovered your super speed but you need to know how to control it."

I nodded and sighed. This should be easy. I closed my eyes and focused on the tree. My legs moved, as fast as they could go. I grabbed a leaf and ran back to Trevor.

He didn't look impressed. "What?" I asked.

"You spent about three minutes. I gave you five seconds."

"You know that's not po—" he disappeared and reappeared like he was in a race with the wind. I froze, no way he just went to the tree and brought back a willow leaf.

"Now, you know it's possible."

"Dude, that wasn't even up to five seconds. Tell me you teleported."

He laughed and took a step back. He sat on the grass and brought out a sandwich from nowhere. "A bag of blood would go a long way, Aurora. I know you want it. I don't mind watching you all day. I'll take care of the time, you just keep trying."

That way, I went about a thousand times and my best was thirty seconds.

I dropped the leaf and sat on the ground next to him. I was gasping heavily. My foot was sour and my body was on fire.

"Are you giving up?" Trevor brought out the blood. My hunger and thirst surged to the peak. I tried to snatch it from him but he was too fast. He raised a brow. "How about this? I run with the blood, if you catch me, you can have it."

I smiled. "That's a good idea." He was gone before I finished my talk. I sighed and ran after him. We were too fast like we were breaking the law of time and gravity. The distance between us was too long but I was determined. I kept my mind on how good the blood would taste.

I closed my eyes, allowing the invisible taste to take control of me. With a swift movement, I got to him. I hit his leg and he fell on the ground. I sat on him before he made any other plans to run off. I held his hands to Ty on the ground and stared into his eyes.

"Gotcha. Now, the blood."

He didn't respond. His eyes were glued to mine and he looked at me like I reminded him of something. I tried reading his mind but it wasn't working. We remained that way for a while until he blinked. "Oh. I'm sorry," he said and I got off him. "Great…you umm…you did well. Here, have it."

I ripped the bag and gagged the blood down my throat. It was nourishing. I wanted more but Trevor has taught me how to control it. Three deep breaths.

We sat down and stared at the sky. "Do you know what Lucas wants to do with me?" I asked.

Trevor shook his head. "He tried to kill me. I don't know what to do. My mom, she would be very worried, I need to get back home."

Trevor sighed. There was something he wasn't saying. "You can't return. You are a danger to humans out there. Until you are sure you can control yourself, you can't go back."

I nodded, trying to pretend that everything was okay. I turned to him and rested on one arm. "Have you ever had a girlfriend?"

He stood up ignoring me. "We should get going, Aurora. He checked his wristwatch. "We must have spent an hour or two. They might start looking for you. We should get back."

I nodded and held his hand. I closed my eyes and by the time I opened them, we were back in my room. I took off the necklace and the Holoman disappeared. I handed it to him with a smile and a grateful heart.

"I hope you enjoyed the lesson today, tomorrow will be more challenging," he said as he walked out the door. I smiled and waved at him.
