Before going to bed Alan re-ran the story told by his grandma again in his mind. He had many questions to ask her, but didn't ask her anything. He knew his grandmother was re-living the memories which were deeply burried in her heart. She was having difficulty and was feeling sad while telling him about her past.
He decided not to ask her anything about her past or about his grandfather. He was happy that she was willing to tell him so much.
Alan had already developed his senses to a very high level. He would wake up instantly if his sense were triggered, even at the slightest. But he slept peacefully that night. He was not even aware of his grandmother getting up, doing all the household chores and even started to prepare the meal. When he woke up that day, he felt refreshed.
Good morning my dear boy. It seems you had a good sleep. Helen wished Alan. He was surprised and looked around and found that he had slept in long that day his grandmother was already cooking.
He immediately got up, " Sorry grandma I got up late today. Give me some time I will get the water." After saying that Alan bolted outside taking water containers to fetch water from the river.
He came back soon with water and saw his grandmother still cooking so he went out to practice the fighting skills. After an hour, Helen called him for lunch. Alan cleaned himself and went inside. Once they had their lunch, Alan looked at his grandmother. His eyes filled with expectations.
Helen was expecting this and was prepared to continue telling Alan her story.
"Come sit my child." She patted the space next to her. Alan sat besides her happily and turned his head towards her.
Helen was looking straight ahead, her gaze unfocused, as if she was looking something beyond the hut.
"Me and my parent left to the Winden city along with a couple of merchant caravan a week from the time Alec went back for his last job as an Adventurer. We even started getting news about Adventurers cleaning up the wild beasts which were causing deaths and destruction to the villages close to the forest near Winden city area.
I was excited and planned to reach the city before Alec comes back to give him the good news. We were waiting for this piece of news since 8 years.
We were about to become parents. I got the confirmation about my pregnancy just a couple of days back, after Alec left the town.
We had traveled around half of the way in our journey when out of nowhere we were attacked by a group of wild beasts that came from the edge of the forest area. Even though we had a few of the adventures with us, the wild beasts ran rampant and killed many people. The wild beasts were all killed by another group of Adventurers who were luckily returning back to the city after the completion of their job.
Our carriage was also attached. I fet the roof of our carriage collapse inwardly and my mind went blank. During this chaos I lost my consciousness.
When I regained my consciousness, 5 days had passed by and I found Alec sitting by my side looking hopeless. I was in extreme pain. The room i was in was dimly lit and felt unfamiliar. I had a strong feeling that I was about to find out something bad.
"Alec what happened? where am I? Where are my parents? What happened to everyone else?"
Alec breathed a sigh of relief once he heard my voice, but next moment he fell silent.
