After a long time of silence. Helen turned towards Alan, smiled and continued.....
"After settling down in this place, We hardly went outside. As you know, we can get everything we need to survive in this area itself. We visited town hardly a few times for salt and some spices initially once every couple of years. But then I started using plants and hurbs that we get around this place and it slowly replaced the usage of other spice from our meals."
"One day I suddenly remembered about the letter and the parting gift that my Master gave me. I found it inside a bag along with my books. I took it out and opened the envelope first and took out the letter."
It read,
" My dear Helen, I am sorry I was unable to help you restore your energy core. It was damaged beyond recovery. Please consider the earth level energy stone which is inside this envelope as a gift from me.
Even though your energy core is damaged and you can't use the energy directly, you can still use the small amount of the energy stored inside this energy stone.
As you know, it can store energy by absorbing the natural energy which is surrounding us and can be used as long as it is in contact with your skin. It will act as an energy core through which you can draw the stored energy.
Keep in mind that, it can only store a small amount of energy and only can measure upto a fraction of energy you used to possess. Once used, it might take years together to gather the energy inside the stone again, unless you are in a mana dense area.
There is another way to restore the energy faster but for that, you need the blood of the spiritual beast or a spiritual amethyst stone. Which as you know are the rarest of the material in the entire kingdom.
There is a storage bag inside the box which is only of earth grade. But it has a space to fit even a caravan. Use it well my dear. You were the only one whome I took as an apprentice. As time went by I started consider you as my own daughter. The two item which I had given you now are priceless and nearly impossible to comeby..
Just like you.....
Take care my child. Live well and peacefully.
Regan."
Tears begin to slide down her cheeks uncontrollably. She had never thought that her master, a strict and grumpy old man had kept her in such a high position in his heart. She was overwhelmed by his gesture and generosity.
She tilted the envelope, a thin silver chain slid down into her hand having a small brown crystal pendent on it.
Then she opened the wooden box and saw a string spouch inside it. It looked normal from ouside except the feel of the fabric was different. She had never felt anything like this before in her hand. It had a feeling of soft leather and felt like it might weigh less than a 100 grams.
When she lifted the pouch, she found a small piece of letter folded beneath it. She took it out and opened it.
" I have kept a few books about healing arts, medicine and few of my own herbal recipes. There are a few rare hurbs and a couple of bottles of rare beast blood inside the storage bag. Hope it will be of use to you in the future." Regan...
Helen looked at the small pice of paper, lost in thought. She showed Alec the letter and the gifts. He felt his mind blown away by her teachers generosity.
Then Helen put on the chain and kept the bag safely.
....
Helen had a farawy look which recallingvher story. Sighing deeply, she came to to the present.
"After that we lived a happy and normal life in this place. I lost your grandfather around 17 years ago. One day we had our dinner as usual and slept. But he never woke up again from his sleep."
At this point Helen was completely emotional and started crying. Alan hugged her and tried to console her. It took a long time for her to calm down.
Alan gave her a glass of water to drink and sat besides her.
He looked at her and said, " Grandma, Let's stop it here, I got to know more than what I initially needed to.
You said that you found me. But whatever you may say, you are and always will be my grandma. I will always be with you no matter what. If you want to be in this place then I am more than happy to be with you. I don't want to go to Green Town or any Acadamy." Alan said with determination.
Helen who had a feeling that Alan might want to leave her knowing that she was not her real grandmother, breathed a sigh of relief. Overjoyed to here his statement, she felt most of the pain in her heart started to fade away like the mist as the sun rises in the sky.
She hugged him. Tears rolling out of her eyes, but this time it was the tears of joy. She felt really blessed to have Alan in her life. Alan while hugging back his grandmother also felt the same way.
In that moment he took an oath to himself, never to let his grandmother down in this life.
