The strange man as if reading Ashlyn thoughts, he carried her gently and started walking out of the bush without saying a word. Meanwhile, Ashlyn just stayed frozen by his actions, she just stared at his face lost in her thoughts as she enjoyed the comfort of his arms and chest.
'Jeez! Why am I thinking of something like this? Ashlyn get your head straight.' She reprimanded herself.
After few minutes of walking, the strange man got to the main road with Ashlyn in his hands.
"You're safe here, you don't need me anymore. From here you can find your way to wherever with ease."
Ashlyn heard the man's voice and it pulled her out of her thoughts. Looking at her surrounding, she was definitely back on track, but yet was she totally safe? It was still night and this road was lonely and creepy so what are the chances of nothing dangerous happening tonight again? And yes, her car, it was still broken down so how could she get out of this place?
No, it wasn't safe for only her here, she couldn't let this strange man go. Not until she gets out of here safely she had to do something to make this stranger stay with her for tonight.
Thinking of what to do, she remembered where she had left her car. "Can you please get me to my car? My phone is there and I'll be more comfortable there." She said without looking into his eyes.
Not that she couldn't look into them, she just didn't want to get drawn in by it again. Everytime she looked into his eyes, she felt something drawing her soul and making her unable to breakaway easily. It felt mesmerizing but akward for her so it was better this way if she doesn't look.
Hearing what she said, the strange man uttered no words and only started walking towards his left till they got to where Ashlyn car was. Standing at the front of her car, he gently adjusted his hands at her back and Ashlyn wrapped her two hands around his neck understanding what he wanted to do.
She gave him freedom and he opened the door of her driver's seat and dropped her gently on the seat. Releasing her hold, Ashlyn removed her hands from his neck and exhaled loudly.
"Thank you for saving me." Ashlyn sincerely said to the man who was now standing straight with his hands in his pocket while looking at her.
Opening her purse that was on her passenger seat, she took out her card. Stretching it to him, "Here, this is my business card. Anytime you need me you can find me through this." She said and he collected it and read what was written on it.
Seeing that he wasn't saying anything despite looking at her card and assuming that he must have read what was there, she decided to do a proper introduction. Atleast it wouldn't hurt to know the name of the strange man who tried to hurt her one night and another night saved her.
"I'm Ashlyn Pedro, daughter of Anna Pedro. The chairwoman of the P. G. C." She said politely with a smile.
Raising his eyes from her card, he looked at her and saw the smile on his face and he felt something stir within him. What was it? It felt like a sudden urge rushed through him as quickly as the speed of light and his whole being felt confused.
"Vincent Yong." He said plainly and put the card in his pocket and started walking away.
'Vincent! Vincent!' That name rang in Ashlyn head but she wasn't sure why? It didn't sound familiar yet it still rang a bell and why? As she was in her own thoughts, she wasn't the only one facing the dilemma.
'Who is she? What is this urge? Why is she feeling familiar but yet the name is not something I've heard before now so why?' Vincent was in his own thought as he continued walking away.
Ashlyn, finally breaking out of her thoughts as she saw him walking away, she couldn't let him go now. She still needed him for tonight and also she needed to ask him questions.
Was he following her? How did he know she was in trouble or was it just a coincidence? Last night at the bar was that also a coincidence or what? Who was he? What was his business with her? Those men, what did he do to them that made them flee? All this questions, she needed answers and the only way she could get them was through him if he stays here with her tonight, she would be able to ask him.
"Where are you going to?" She asked but he didn't respond neither did he stop walking.
Thinking of what to say to make him stop, she finally had an idea.
"Ah! Ouch! it hurts." Ashlyn faked her tone and put on a pained expression. For someone like her who always had to find a way to get out of some situations her mum would try to put her by faking her expression, this one was just as easy as her drinking water. She had a flawless acting skill and if she had ventured into acting as a profession, she would have been one of the biggest star in the world.
"How am I going to stay all by myself here like this? What if they come back? What will I do? Arrrgh! this pain is unbearable." She said in a low voice but a little audible enough for Vincent to hear.
Of course, she was in pain but not as much as how she faked it to be and just as she had aimed for, Vincent stopped in his tracks when he heard what she said.
Why was he acting like this? Why did he stop? Wad he caring about her? No, it can't happen. He hasn't cared about anyone in a long time so why would he care now? He was losing his mind with all this strange little things happening to him right now and he couldn't understand why.
The only reason he could come up with was because of the deal they made. He needed to keep her safe tonight for his part of the deal to be completely done or do he thought.
'Yes, that could only be why I'm still here right now. After tonight, she'll be fully indebted to me. I just have to stay here till morning when it's bright.' He said inwardly and sighed before turning around and walking back towards Ashlyn.
Seeing him coming back, Ashlyn subconsciously smiled at her victory. Now, though she was in this place, her night might be a little bit interesting. Massaging her knee slowly, She pretended like she didn't know he was walking towards her till he stood at her front then she raised her head slowly.
"You can get in the car." She said and Vincent sighed while hiding his expression behind his stoicism.
Walking around the car, Vincent entered and sat down on the passenger seat before closing the door. He was kind of frustrated and confused but yet he was curious. Curious to who Ashlyn was and what urge she stirred within him?
