"You're finally awake." Vincent heard an unfamiliar voice as he saw a man standing at the wooden door. The man was dressed in normal leather clothes and boots worn by commoners in the kingdom and his demeanor was calm but something about him felt odd.
The man with a small smile on his face, he closed the door and started walking towards Vincent.
"Who are you? Are you here to kill me? Did my uncle send you?" Vincent coughed in pain when he asked his last question.
"You shouldn't be talking in this state... You're not completely healed yet."
"I'll ask you again... who are you?" Vincent asked again ignoring the man's words.
"Ah! How troublesome." The man sighed while massaging his temple. "Are all royals this stubborn?" He said with slight irritation in his voice. He got close to the bed Vincent was laying down and sat down on the stool near the bed while facing Vincent.
Immediately he sat down beside Vincent, Vincent could sense his aura but it felt strangely odd but yet familiar. He could sense vampire blood in him but yet It was different... something pure but imperfect, powerful yet calm. Who was this man at his front. Was he a vampire? No, he's something different.
Vincent was still in his thoughts trying to find out who was the man at his front when he heard the man's voice. "I'm Diego Alexander. The only son of Alexander Cedric, the head wizard of the Zahit Empire."
Vincent face darkened immediately he heard those words from the man. His blood lust started rising and his killing intent was being directed towards Diego.
Diego on the other hand felt an immense pressure on him. He was alone with only Vincent so of course he knew that they was no other person sending the intense killing intent towards him if not the royal on the bed but yet he wasn't affected by the pressure.
"If you don't stop now, you're going to end up killing yourself and I'll be sad because I worked so hard in keeping you alive." Diego said casually and feigned being sad.
Vincent eyes widened in surprise. He wasn't affected... Who is he? Vincent was confused as to who this man was. Ever since he started preparing for the battle field, Vincent developed a unique killing intent that is mixed with his aura and sent towards his opponent making them fall to their feet and immobile. It was something that worked on everyone and only three people ever withstood it barely, but yet as powerful as it is, this man at his side was not even affected by it. Was it because he was laying on the bed and wasn't strong enough yet?
As if reading his mind, Diego spoke. "You're not weak. I felt your killing intent and it was sharp but you see, I'm not just a witch so it won't work on me. My mother was from the house of Val in the Rykebreach Empire...."
"You're an half blood." Vincent whispered in shock and Diego nodded.
"Ah! I'm pretty much tired from the stress." Diego yawned before standing on his feet. Looking at Vincent, he saw the confusion written all over his face and he smiled. "Your uncle didn't send me, so you don't have to worry. I know the truth about everything and that's why I saved you." He said and started walking towards the door.
"You can stay here as long as you want but I don't think you'll be safe here for that long. Your uncle is still looking for you and his influence extends even to the Zahit Empire. If you want revenge your best option is to leave the dynasty for now and wait for the right time." Diego said and yawned again.
Opening the door, he raised his other hand in the air, "Good luck on whatever you decide but I hope we do meet again then maybe I can fully repay my debt to your father." He said and a smirk formed on his lips. "See you some other time prince Vincent." And he left, closing the door behind him, he raised his eyes to the sky and sighed.
That was all that happened. Now, Vincent was sure that even him doesn't know why Diego was following him. It was because of the debt he said he owes his father but what exactly was it. What did his father do for Diego to be indebted to him?
"Ah!" They was no use thinking about it. 'I guess with time I'll figure it out.' He said inwardly and sighed.
Turning his attention to the woman seated at his front who was patiently waiting for his answer. "It was all Diego's choice to follow me. I'm not his boss." Vincent said and Ashlyn smiled.
Taking the other phone with him, he stretched it forward to Ashlyn, "Here, you might be looking for this." He said and Ashlyn walked towards him and collected her phone before going back to seat.
"I had your car sent to repair. When you want to go home just tell me." Vincent said and stood up, took the file Diego had given him and left the sitting room.
Ashlyn watched his back fade as he left and ascended the stairs and she smiled. "He's different from the first time I saw him." She muttered under her breath before looking at her phone. Seeing that it was off, she switched it on and was greeted with something she expected immediately it was fully on.
"Ah! shit!" She cursed out as her eyes caught the number of missed calls she has. Checking who it was from, she saw the people she expected; Kait, Owen and Clara and sighed. Thinking of wherether to call them or not, she knew them too well and explaining what happened over the phone was definitely not the best idea right now so she decided not to.
Remembering now about her plans to meet her mother today with Mark, she knew it wouldn't be possible again. atleast if she couldn't call anyone, she would call Mark because she needed him if she wants to be free from her mother's scheme. Dialling his number, she held her phone closer to her ear.
"Good morning, miss Ashlyn." She heard Marks voice immediately it connected through and with a soft voice she replied his greeting.
"Can we postpone our plans for today?" Ashlyn said and she heard his question from the other side of the line before giving him an excuse she made up and just as expected, Mark accepted it before she ended the call.
"Ah! I'm definitely going to be extra busy from now on." She sighed and leaned backwards on the couch.
