Inside Vincent living room, Vincent sat down on his couch with his eyes closed and his head leaned backwards. He was thinking about something... No, someone and then he heard a familiar voice.
"I knew you would send for me." Alfred said. He was wearing a grey Italian suit and a silver Rolex on his wrist. His black eyes had a peculiar, subtle ray in them and his medium hair was as dark as a crow's wing and soft as an owl's down.
He was standing meters away from Vincent with his two hands in his pocket. The air around him was calm contradicting his expressionless face.
Without opening his eyes and giving out a reaction, Vincent only moved his mouth, "I didn't send for you. Diego did."
Diego who was standing at a corner in the room with his back leaned on the wall and his hands folded on his chest could only sigh when he heard Vincent words.
"Kill your pride, Vincent. You need me." Alfred said in a dry voice.
Hearing Alfred words, Vincent scoffed and opened his eyes and raised his head now looking at Alfred he said in a mocking tone. "Do you think I'll ever need you?"
If Vincent had said this words to someone else they would have gotten irked up by it but knowing this man at his front too well, he was someone that words couldn't get through easily and just like he expected, Alfred brushed off his words.
Walking closer, Alfred sat down on another couch, leaned backwards and crossed his legs together. "Aren't you being too careless for someone with many enemies?" He said and threw his gaze towards Vincent.
"If you are here to talk about what happened with Luis..."
"I don't have a business with that. He's not my brother and neither are you so you both should sort out things yourself." Alfred interjected then asked, "When are you going back home?"
Vincent scoffed as an unctuous smile appeared on his lips. "Home? And where exactly is my home?" intently directing his piercing gaze at Alfred, "The same place that banished me for hundred years? or the same place that everyone had a smile when I was about to get executed?" With a bitter smile on his face, "I have no home, no family and I will never have."
Alfred knew about everything Vincent was saying, it was all the truth. When Vincent killed his parents, he was about to get executed but because he was a royal blood, he was banished instead and his uncle made sure he never returned to the empire again. And now here he was trying to talk him to go back home, it wasn't going to happen unless Vincent decided on his own.
"Your nightmares... Do you still have it?" Alfred asked changing the topic.
"That's none of your business." Vincent said and stood up. He was already annoyed and he didn't want to have any conversation again. "I have work to do." he added and left the two men in his living room.
"You shouldn't have brought up that issue... You know Vincent too well." Diego who was watching them quietly said immediately Vincent left.
Standing up, Alfred sighed, ignored Diego's words and left the living room.
"pfft! I really deserve an award being friends with these two men." Diego hissed.
Meanwhile inside Ashlyn's office, she was so engrossed with her paper work after Kait had left. She and Kait were both done with their discussion after Kait was done laughing and teasing her friend she became serious and asked Ashlyn if she really wanted to go through with the idea and knowing Ashlyn, she instantly nodded so she could only support her best friend.
Ashlyn had told Clara everything that happened on her date and of course excluded the marriage part because she didn't want her mother to know about it.
Going on with her work, the rest of the day went by uneventfully for her and she was pleased it wasn't a bad day like yesterday. As the sun went down it was finally time to close for the day and workers could be seen heading home but for Ashlyn she wasn't ready to go home yet.
Tomorrow she was going to meet Mark and officially introduce him to her mum because she couldn't waste any time in getting over with this marriage issue and getting her peace of mind. Clara had walked in asking her if she was ready to go home and she said no while giving Clara permission to go home.
This wasn't her first time working so late in the night and this was definitely not going to be her last time as well. Staying alone in her office, she worked on the files she was supposed to go through tomorrow.
If anyone saw her working like this, it would be hard for them to believe that she is a CEO of a big company that has a name in the country's economy. Aren't CEO's meant to be lazy? Just come to work anytime they like, sign whatever document they want, skip meetings by sending a representative and just order people around. Those were the light people saw CEO's but for Ashlyn, it was a different case.
She was the type that worked hard till her mom's company had it present name and she's still working hard to retain it and build more.
The sound of pen signing papers stopped as Ashlyn dropped her pen. She was finally done with her paper work. Closing the file, she arranged them neatly on her desk and stretched her body as a yawn escaped her lips. It was finally time to go home.
Standing up, she took her phone and her purse and left her office. Walking through the silent corridor, she knew it was only her alone in this building and she was very late. Taking her private elevator, she followed the back door and headed to where her car was parked. Entering her car she drove off after being greeted by the security guards at the gate.
Ashlyn drove gently on the road as she enjoyed the calmness of the city and it's night light. Checking the time on her phone she saw it was past ten so she decided to take a short cut and did a U turn heading towards a lonely road that lead to the area she was living.
Though she rarely uses this road, she had to use it now if she wanted to get home on time. The road was like a bush partway because of the bushes and trees at both sides of the road, though it was creepy to use this road at night most especially this late, she just couldn't help it and just as she was already five minutes on this creepy road, her car stopped.
