Ashlyn stayed on the floor as sounds of footsteps started approaching her. The more she tried getting up, the more her body became weak. Thinking of what to do with no clues, she decided for fate to take it cause. It seems her life was a short one, she doubts if she was going to make it out alive tonight.
As the sound of footsteps became louder, she knew they were closer to her and she couldn't do anything. She was already in pain from the fall and her body felt numb. The thought of her mother came to her mind and her eyes became teary.
The three figures stopped in their steps as they got only a inch away from her.
"I told you it was no use chasing after her. She's going to serve as a good meal tonight."
Ashlyn heard one of the men said and the other two laughed. She looked up at them and it felt like the moon decided to bear witness to her death. It came out shining brightly and now she could see their faces clearly a bit.
Her eyes immediately fell on their lips and her heart skipped in fear of what she saw.
'Blood,' She screamed in her head. It was blood... the red substance was blood. Now she could trace the dots from the beginning of the unknown screams she heard to the words these three men said.
'Hunting! Meal for tonight.' Now her mind was working fast, she could pinpoint what was happening or rather what was going to happen to her. Whoever these people are, they were going to kill her and eat her.
'Oh God! what is wrong with me? I'm going crazy.' Her head throbbed in pain. 'Eat?' Was she just thinking too far or was that really the situation? Would she get eaten by these three unknown men? or was it just her imagination?
The three men stood with a smirk on their face as they looked at Ashlyn. Of course, tonight was their lucky night. Catching two preys in just one night, it was something to be happy about.
Ashlyn saw the smile on their faces and she knew tonight was her end, she couldn't do anything right now... She was completely helpless. Taking a deep breath she decided to accept her fate but just as the man standing at the middle raised his right leg to walk, they heard something moving in the bush and he halted.
"Another prey?" The man said in a partly questioning tone.
Ashlyn turned her head to her right in the direction of the sound. She didn't know what was that but from the sound she knew it was a person and not an animal. She heard a slight footstep and she could tell that whoever was coming was alone.
She couldn't let whoever it was get here or else they might end up in this situation she's in. Even if she couldn't safe herself atleast maybe she could save someone else and buy her way to the afterlife once she dies.
She wasn't sure if she was going to make it to the afterlife if she dies right now. The number of times she's disobeyed her mum and refused getting married despite everything her mum has done for her was countless.
Was she ungrateful? Yes, she was... Ungrateful, stubborn and spoiled. If only she could save the life of whoever was coming then that might erase her mistake and earn her a good deed.
Thinking of what to do, they was only one way to help in her current situation. Ashlyn mustered every single strength she had and screamed on top of her lungs.
"No! Don't come here!!" She didn't know what to say but she hoped that it was enough to stop whoever it was from coming.
The three men face darkened seemingly in anger as they witnessed what she did. One of the men standing at the right hissed and walked closer to Ashlyn and gave her a smack on the head and Ashlyn winced in pain but yet she didn't relent and instead increased her determination of saving whoever it was.
"Go and check who's there." The man in the middle said and from the tone of his voice Ashlyn could tell instantly that he was the leader or rather he had more authority.
Nodding his head, the last man standing at the left started walking towards the direction of the noise and just as he took his fourth step a figure came out of the bushes.
Ashlyn looked at the figure she was trying to save. He was familiar — it was the strange and silent man. What was he doing here? Was he following her or it was coincidental.
The strange man looked at Ashlyn and their eyes met for a few seconds before he broke away and looked at the three men tracing them one after another with his eyes.
His lips curved into a smirk when his eyes ended on the man at the middle and that didn't go unnoticed by Ashlyn. Ashlyn followed the direction of his gaze and looked at the assumed leader, he was trembling on his spot and she wondered why.
Taking a step, the strange man started walking towards the man in the middle slowly and calmly. He got to the front of the man and stopped. Staring directly into his eyes for what looks like a minute, seeing the fear shining brightly in them, the strange man hissed, put his hands in his pocket and turned around.
Surprising everyone he started walking away without saying a word. Getting to where Ashlyn was on the floor, he looked at her for a few seconds and their eyes locked again.
Those eyes, his eyes... pure yet it held secrets buried within them.
"Who is he?" She asked herself but immediately remembered the situation she was in. Yes, she had to get out of this place tonight but what could she do.
This man at her front, what could he do too? She had no idea but remembering how her attackers trembled in fear the moment they saw this strange man she knew she could really make it out of here alive tonight.
The strange man still looking at Ashlyn, he broke away from her gaze and started walking pass her calmly but immediately halted in his steps when he heard Ashlyn's voice.
"Please save me."
